(CNN)With just a week left until the 2022 midterm elections, the political environment appears to be eroding rapidly for Democrats -- especially in areas where the party has long held sway. "The scariest Halloween reality for House Democrats is the number of seats President [Joe] Biden carried comfortably in 2020 that are at genuine risk a week out," wrote Dave Wasserman, the House editor at the Cook Report with Amy Walter, a nonpartisan campaign tipsheet. To that end, Wasserman shifted race ratings for 10 Democratic-held seats into more jeopardy -- including three apiece in the Democratic redoubts of California and...

Bolduc leads Hassan 48-47. This poll has never been favorable to the GOP in the past. Momentum is clearly on the GOP side.

The evidence that a wave is growing transcends the polling. Take a moment and listen below. But let me explain it to you in writing as well. . . . Democrats are redirecting resources to areas that should be safe. In close races, they would not be moving money from Florida to Washington State. Florida should be a tight swing seat. Washington should be a locked-in Democrat seat. But Democrats are cutting Val Demming's money in Florida against Marco Rubio and redirecting it to incumbent Senator Patty Murray of Washington. That does not happen if there is no wave. It...

Senate hopeful John Fetterman has cast himself as a champion of Pennsylvania's public schools, telling voters he will "make sure our public schools have the funding they need." But his tax records tell a different story. In fact, as mayor of Braddock, Pa., Fetterman failed to pay tens of thousands of dollars in taxes on time to his local school district, one of the poorest in the state. Woodland Hills School District, which serves Braddock, placed nearly three-dozen tax liens against Fetterman totaling $18,692 for unpaid property taxes from 2006 to 2019, according to records reviewed by the Washington Free...

Things do not look good for Democrats in our forecast. Our Forecast currently designates only 13 seats as tossups, but even if the Democrats were to win all 13, AND keep all of the seats that they currently hold, they would still wind up with only 208 seats - 10 short of the number that they need for a majority. The national environment just isn't favorable for Democrats, so they are expected to lose control of the chamber.

The map crafted by Gov. Ron DeSantis' Office will govern races in 2022. The Florida Supreme Court won’t hear a challenge to Florida’s new congressional map before the Midterms. The court announced on Thursday it has denied a request for a new hearing on redistricting. That means the final voice on the matter before the 2022 elections will be Florida’s 1st District Court of Appeal, which last month struck down a circuit court decision to replace the map. “The right to come before the high court “is restricted to preserving jurisdiction that has already been invoked or protecting jurisdiction that...

The Supreme Court on Tuesday sided with the technology industry and blocked a controversial Texas law that bars large social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter from removing posts based on the viewpoints they express. The justices divided 5-4 in an ideologically scrambled vote. Three of the court’s conservatives (Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett) joined two liberals (Justices Stephen Breyer and Sonia Sotomayor) in putting the law on hold while lower courts continue to assess technology companies’ constitutional challenge to the law. The other three conservatives (Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, and Neil...

The crux of Robinson’s post: “On Primary Day in Georgia, Kemp gets 74% and Perdue gets 22%. Nobody in any election in America gets 74% of the votes. Ever. It doesn’t happen. Obvious fraud.” But the thing that Robinson claims never happens actually happens with regularity. Aaron Blake points to a 2009 study that “found that about 1 in 10 Senate incumbents took less than 75 percent of the vote in their primaries. Many faced token or no opposition, but it does happen — very regularly.” . . . Marjorie Taylor Greene carried 70 percent of her district at the...

Yesterday, a federal district court judge dismissed MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell's counterclaims against election machine manufacturers U.S. Dominion and Smartmatic. The counterclaims were filed in the companies' defamation suit against Lindell, who had accused the firms of stealing the 2020 election with rigged election machines. In addition, Judge Nichols imposed sanctions on Lindell, given the "groundless" and "frivolous" nature of his claims. Last fall, Judge Nichols had also denied Lindell's attempt to dismiss the defamation claims. After he was sued for defamation, Lindell filed a series of counterclaims against Dominion and Smartmatic, including abuse of process, RICO, and violations of...

In his revised New York state congressional maps — the final version of which was released 12:17 a.m. Saturday — Special Master Jonathan Cervas tossed aside Democratic gerrymandering to create a slew of intriguing new districts, some of which could fracture the established political landscape. In Manhattan, the new 12th district will pit the East Side’s Rep. Carolyn Maloney against the West Side’s Rep. Jerry Nadler. The two liberal warhorses have been in Congress three decades. A new 10th district covering lower Manhattan and a slice of Brooklyn — suddenly without an incumbent — may create an opening for former...

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Kansas’ highest court on Wednesday upheld a Republican redistricting law that makes it harder for the only Democrat in the state’s congressional delegation to win reelection in a big victory for the GOP.

“Not unexpected, but this NY map is pretty bad news for Democrats. With so many competitive seats, it’s not hard to envision a 16D-10R (or even 15D-11R) split on a great GOP night, which is a far cry from the 22D-4R rout Dems initially tried to gerrymander.”

Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., will be opposing a Democratic abortion bill when it is up for a procedural vote Wednesday afternoon, stating that it is too broad for his liking. Manchin said that while he would vote for a bill that would legalize abortion on the federal level, the bill before the Senate now "is not what I was hoping for and what I expected" because it goes too far.
