You miss the point. The debt also represents the amnount of taxes that have yet to be extracted from those who are creating jobs and wealth. The investments are what can be made after taxes. The noney has already been spent so to cover the cost the only source is taxes and taxes is a drain on the economy. The question that should be debated is what level of debt is ideal to grow the economy, not that the debt should be zero.
As a pastor its hard for me to see so many not understand the cohesiveness of the bible from beginning to end and its consistant themes of sin, judgment, grace, mercy. How a loving God cannot turn a blind eye to sin and nations that are so corrupt they kill their children.
They believe their wisdom is greater than God’s. They believe the same God who raised Jesus from the dead cannot control what we see as Scripture. They discount the Holy Spirit’s ability to reveal the nature of God to the Apostles and the early church.

Many believe all debt is bad but in the finance world that is not true. Sometimes debt cna be used to make investments that rerturn higher than the cost of the debt. Also, using leverage can create a higher return on the marginal portion of investment.
So zero debt should not be the goal, zero debt would mean we are taking taxes or wealth from the wealthy who are hopefully are using that wealth to create new wealth.
1994 was mentioned on this thread and then the GDP was about 7 trillion and today we are probably at 32 trillion. So the goal should be a target of debt reduction that allows economy to grow and at some point that amount should not be zero.
I would have to hear the whole sermon in context but I would technically agree that God is not a follower of Christ, or a Christian. God is Christ, and also the Father and the Holy Spirit.
