WASHINGTON – In an unexpected move, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Special Counsel Jack Smith have decided to end their cases against President-elect Donald Trump. According to ABC News, the DOJ cited its longstanding policy that sitting presidents cannot be prosecuted, a guideline that has now led to the cessation of legal proceedings against the former president.
While many had anticipated that the DOJ and Smith would continue their work up until Trump’s official departure from office, the decision to close these cases before he even takes office has raised eyebrows.
“What’s interesting here is that the DOJ is moving to end these cases even before Trump assumes office, citing the longstanding DOJ policy that sitting presidents can’t be prosecuted,” a senior official said. “There was some thought that maybe Special Counsel Jack Smith would sprint through the finish line, working up until the last day, forcing Trump to fire him or waiting for a new Attorney General to be appointed, but that does not appear to be the thinking inside the department.”

Will Jack Smith be his own Lawyer ?
ABC’s Jonathan Karl is going to have to find something else to obsess about.
What does this mean?
No threat of jail?
No threat if impeachment b/c he is a "convicted felon"?
Oh no!
The cases were all artificial devices intended to impact the election, Now that the election is over, there is no further reason to waste time on them.
The plan is to put it on ice, then resume it when he leaves office. And probably not stop prosecuting others involved in the cases.
They have no goodwill and deserve zero benefit of the doubt.
Trump should fire Smith, pardon himself and anyone else in those cases. That will prevent any future attempt.
Gee I wonder why?!?
America’s KGB nearly took over America.
The battle is not over.
It needs to be dismantled
Jack Smith is in DEEP sh#@t! Hope he is thrown in jail for fraud!
“Tell them I’m coming and He’ll is coming with me!”
They must be running scared, because Bannon said last night, and I’m paraphrasing here, “While President Trump is going take the high road, I would tell Garland and Smith and their friends at DOJ and the FBI to lawyer up.”
Democrats are calling for Biden to issue blanket pardons.
Press Conference: NY AG Letitia James said she and NY Governor Hochul are not pleased with the election and are ready to continue to prosecute Trump because he is evil.
It may be that if they dismiss the charges before there’s an acquittal, they avoid being sued for malicious prosecution. Usually you can’t sue for malicious prosecution unless you are found not guilty.
The system Smith was counting on rigging has been handed over to his target.
When did lawfare ever respect long standing policies?
According to them, this is literally someone worse than Hitler, taking office and they let long standing policies stop them?
First, Facebook, LA Times, Washington Post, go in retreat and now lawfare.
Something is up.
Is this related to the surprise?
On January 20, 2025 all Hell is coming for Jack Smith and Merrick Garland. There will be no escape, no mercy, no forgiveness. But there most certainly is going to be a lot of pain, for them.
We won’t forget. They need to prepare to be hounded to the ends of the earth. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are coming.
Or just dox the pos.
Let’s compromise. We let the DOJ thugs off with a mere firing and loss of security clearance, in exchange for unredacted docs from the last ten years.
