Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) predicted Wednesday that former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), President-elect Trump’s pick for attorney general, will not get confirmed by the Senate.
Asked for his response to Trump’s Cabinet picks so far, McCarthy told Bloomberg Television in an interview, “I think the choices are very good, except one.”
“Look, Gaetz won’t get confirmed,” he continued. “Everybody knows that.”
McCarthy, a loyal Trump ally while serving in the House, was asked why the former president would bother tapping Gaetz if he knew the Florida Republican couldn’t get confirmed.
“You can talk to [the] president, but it’s a good deflection from others, but it also gives …” McCarthy responded, cutting himself off. “I’ll let it stand at that.”

Everyone’s been saying that and it’s not correct. Recess appointments are made when the Senate is in sine die recess. Someone said that won’t be until the 4th of July, and I dont think that’s correct —- I think there’s a recess around Easter. Don’t remember the particulars but while Trump was President there was an occasion or two or three where the Senate never recessed. Though everyone was gone, a pro forma session was held every day, where the Senate was called into session though only a couple or few were present and there was no quorum. This is why Trump insisted during the campaign that the Senate adjourn during its recesses
This situation involved how long Gaetz could be acting attorney general and it’s governed by the Federal Vacanies Reform Act of 1998. I was looking at it yesterday. It’s terribly complex and I didn’t get an understanding ding of how it works. But what were are talking about here is how long Gaetz could be acting AG

Now remember, he resigned from THIS Congress. Depending what happens, he can still be sworn in on the 3rd. Yes??....I think. that's what's happening. So I'm guessing Trump has someone behind Door No. 2 if he doesn't get confirmed.
Mccarthy turned out to be more of a crybaby that Kinzinger and Boehner combined.
