Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley defended President Trump as "truthful" and said she never questioned the president's fitness for office during a combative interview with Today's Savannah Guthrie. Haley, 47, has been defending the president on her media tour to promote her new book, With All Due Respect: Defending America with Grit and Grace, which was published on Tuesday. "I am way over time, but let me just quickly, because it’s been out there and you worked in this administration. Did you ever have any doubt about the fitness of this president?" Guthrie asked Tuesday morning. Haley, who alleged...

HAVANA (AP) -- Brushing off decades of distrust, President Barack Obama and Cuban President Raul Castro shook hands Monday in Havana's Palace of the Revolution, opening a meeting aimed at advancing the diplomatic opening that both leaders have pursued. Obama and Castro stood together as a Cuban military band played the national anthems of Cuba and the United States - stunning sounds in a country where resistance to the U.S. has been part of the government's national mission for decades. Obama and top U.S. officials warmly greeted their Cuban counterparts before the two presidents sat down for their meeting. For...

I’m a guy who talks to everyone. Ask my wife. A trip to the grocery store for milk can turn into a thirty minute conversation with the bag-boy. Most of the people who work with me on this site (Brodigan, Krystal, Jared, Caleb and ‘FunDip’ Dan) are just people with whom I’ve had a good conversation at one point or another. Never once did I ask for a resume. They dread my phone-calls because I always go long. I’m that guy. I’ve always loved talking with people. But in the last few years, something’s changed dramatically. Political correctness has become...

Since the beginning of the health care debate in Congress, companies have been concerned about the eventual costs that the bill would create if passed. A couple of days ago some companies like ATT, AK Steel, John Deere and Verizon followed the laws of full disclosure and made public statements about the potential fiscal environment the “Health Care Bill” would force them to exist in. Now that the statements have been made, Henry Waxman is again using bully tactics and intimidation to stop these companies from: 1)expressing their concerns to the public and 2) following the law that requires that...

I month or two ago (maybe longer) I posted a thread on why I was leaving Free Republic. I was angry over a post that was pulled (which Jim very nicely re-posted). I took some heated comments, and some justifiably so. I registered with a couple of conservative websites, and I will maintain those registrations. But after comparing those other websites, along with a few others, I have come to the conclusion that I was wrong for threatening to leave and I wanted to make an apology for my actions to Jim and others who were angered or offended.

MONTREAL (CP) - The federal Liberals are wasting their time trying to persuade the New Democrats to form an alliance of so-called left-wing forces in an attempt to take power back from Stephen Harper's Conservatives, says NDP Leader Jack Layton. In an interview with a Montreal newspaper, Layton said the Liberals are far from a left-wing party and that the sponsorship scandal has tarnished the party's image for a long time to come, especially in Quebec. Layton added that the NDP risks sabotaging the gains the party has made in Quebec and the rest of Canada if it aligns itself...

CBS News legend Dan Rather was one of the few people to get his hands on an advance copy of the hotly awaited and tightly guarded 975-page memoir My Life, by former President Bill Clinton. So what’s the verdict, Mr. Rather? "Maybe he didn’t come totally, absolutely clean with himself, but he made an effort to do it," he said, "an effort it would be difficult to find with any former President." Did Mr. Rather like the book? "I liked it more than I thought I would," he said, "more than I was prepared to like it. Who knew that...

Bush's new hard-line policy restricting travelers to a single visit every three years “punishes and isolates the Cuban people and harms the Cuban Americans with relatives on the island while leaving Castro unharmed,” Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., has told the Miami Herald. According to the report, Kerry would encourage "principled travel" to the island and lift the cap on gifts to its people. Although embracing the U.S. trade embargo against Cuba and support for dissidents, Kerry was critical of Bush's restriction of travel and cash gifts to Cubans on the island as a “cynical and misguided ploy for a few...
