This is no ordinary blizzard that’s blasting Buffalo and the Southtowns. Not only is the lake-effect fueled storm dropping snow at a rate of 1 or 2 inches per hour, powerful winds are creating whiteout conditions. Then there’s the deep, bone-chilling, even life-threatening cold.

A group of parents in Western New York wants more than a mere “voice” in reforming the city’s failing schools. Public school administrators often complain about parents’ apathy. If only parents would be more engaged with their children’s education, the lament goes, schools would have a much easier job. School district officials in Buffalo sound a different complaint: if only the parents weren’t so outspoken. A noisy group of 4,000 parent-activists are demanding more than just another “voice” in the listless reform “conversation,” but rather what one local journalist called “a place at the table with some juice to go...

It has been almost two Months since the vicious attack on Brian Milligan, and still no arrests have been made. If He were black and the perpetrators were white, it's my guess that the FBI would be involved to find the perpetrators of the hate Crime.Am I the only one who thinks that Obama should tell his FBI Director Robert Mueller to investigate the crime? After all, we are reminded often how it was the federal government and the FBI who had to go into the South and investigate crimes against the black community by the KKK because the...

Western New Yorkers say they're up to their eyeballs in taxes. Now, they're using a party to protest proposed tax increases. It was quite a scene at the waterfront Saturday as hundreds of western New Yorkers didn't hold back criticizing what they call a floundering state government. Western New Yorkers at Saturday's tea party tax revolt had a clear message for Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and Governor Paterson. Tax activists, some in costume and others not, all had the same message. They're tired of dysfunctional government that they say only know one thing, raising taxes. Small business is going to...
