The director of research at a Massachusetts biotech firm has been accused searching online for deadly poisons and purchasing 800 castor bean seeds so he could extract the toxin ricin from them, federal prosecutors say. Dr. Ishtiaq Ali Saaem, 37, was charged on Tuesday with obstruction of justice after he allegedly lied to FBI agents when they were investigating why he was trying to acquire the deadly toxin. Authorities say Saaem had ordered 100 packets of castor beans, which each contained eight seeds, online.

Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman revealed a startling new look Saturday that had some social media users likening him to Walter White, the infamous meth-cooking chemistry teacher played by Bryan Cranston on AMC’s “Breaking Bad.” “Lost a bet with Karl,” Fetterman posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, with a selfie showing off a blocky pair of eyeglasses, a bushy new mustache — and the disappearance of his signature gray goatee. The freshman Democrat, 53, did not describe the wager he had made with his 13-year-old son, but the photo sparked hundreds of reactions. “Breaking sad,” one critic snarked. “ITS TIME...

AMC’s Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston is no fan of former President Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan. In an interview Sunday with CNN’s Chris Wallace, the actor argued that “MAGA” could be construed as “racist.” “When I see the ‘Make America Great Again,’ my comment is, do you accept that that could possibly be construed as a racist remark?” Cranston said. “And most people, a lot of people, go, how could that be racist? Make America Great Again? Just ask yourself from an African-American experience, when was it ever great in America for the African-American? When was it...

Crimo is from of the Highland Park area and posted rap videos online using the name Awake. In one song, the suspect wrote: 'My actions will be valiant and my thought is unnecessary, I know what I have to do, I know what's in it, not only for me, but for everyone else.' The doom-laden words were set to drawings of a figure who looked like Crimo pointing a rifle while a person lies prone on the ground, and another holds their hands up in the air.

The wealthy political activist and Democratic donor Ed Buck was sentenced to 30 years in prison on charges that he supplied and personally injected gay men with methamphetamine in exchange for sex, leading to two deaths and multiple other overdoses. Buck, 67, was found guilty in July by a federal jury on all nine counts, including having a drug house, distributing methamphetamine and enticing men to travel for prostitution. Thursday’s sentencing closes a long saga, involving Buck, who prosecutors say used his wealth and influence to prey on and exploit mostly vulnerable Black men for “party and play” encounters at...
