President Donald Trump and Prince William's outfits for Pope Francis' burial on Saturday attracted a lot of attention and sparked debates over violating strict Vatican procedure.
Trump donned his trademark American flag lapel pin, a light blue tie, and a blue suit when he arrived for the somber service in St. Peter's Square.
“Any reason why Donald Trump is in a blue suit and not wearing traditional black for a funeral?” one netizen asked on X.
In keeping with the Vatican's standards for such events, Prince William, who was filling in for King Charles III, chose to sport a traditional dark suit and tie.
His dress received praise for being acceptable and respectful of the event's solemnity, but it also garnered flak since his suit was dark blue rather than black.
Joe Biden, the former president, too broke the tradition by donning a blue tie.
All three outfits deviated from the Vatican's customary dress code, which requires male guests attending papal funerals to wear a formal black suit, black tie, and a black lapel pin.
According to the well-known Italian national newspaper Il Messaggero, Vatican protocol dictates the following dress and order for Pope Francis' burial.
"For men, dark suit with a long black tie and a button of the same color on the left lapel of the jacket, where only Vatican honors can be placed. For women, a black dress, preferably long, of the same color as gloves and veil on the head, with the only allowed ornament being a string of pearls.
“These are the prescriptions for those attending the Pope's funeral, according to well-established protocol manuals that also define the seating arrangement for dignitaries and heads of state.”

I guess if Trump were Italian (he’s not), a Catholic (he’s not) it might matter.
As for me - I don’t GAS. The guy sucked as a pope dude.
But the Pope wasn’t Catholic.;-)
Or rather, Francis was Catholic in name only (CINO).

Trump always looks terrific, has marvelous suits. I don’t give a flying fig what he wore to the anti-Catholic pope’s funeral.
I bet his black suit was at the cleaners
Traditionally, black is the color for married men when buried. However, unmarried men are to be buried in a white suit.
I know this sounds bizarre, but years ago when removing an angry ghost from a house near Philadelphia, the ghost of a young unmarried man told me that he couldn’t go to Heaven as he was in the wrong color suit.
When his mother arrived from Italy and saw him prepared for burial in a black suit, she flipped out and screamed “My son can’t go to Heaven as he is in the wrong color suit.”
The spirit of her deceased son heard this, and along with extreme anger he was holding onto, his belief was that he couldn’t go to Heaven as his suit was not white.
It took a short period of time to do some forgiveness work and then it was an easy remedy to help him cross over.

Dark blue is a dark suit. It only specified black be worn by women for some strange sexist reason.

But who gives flying fig what Vatican Dress Code requires?

They should try sticking to God Almighty’s requirements before anyone throws a stone or complains about the splinter in someone else’s eye.
Everyone there was dressed well except our Ukrainian Dry Cleaner. Anyone complain about him?

A bunch of somebodies have been losing sleep over this ‘cataclysmic’ event. Not everyone who has respect or high regard for the position of The Pontiff, is a Catholic, at least not right now.
Are they not to be welcomed in the church, vs picked apart by self proclaimed Fashion Police? I admit to being guilty of that same brand of nitpicking from time to time.
I am grateful that at least these people were conservatively attired. No ballcaps, sports t-shirts, bermuda shorts for the men, No sheer or inappropriately revealing dresses for the women.
Pope francis hated tradition and traditionalists.
They should have dressed in purple dresses.
So?
They don’t run the leaders of the world dress code, especially in such precise detail.
