Walsh made the comments Friday as he discussed security for the event alongside Boston Police Commissioner William Evans and Gov. Charlie Baker. The 34-year-old homeless man accused of a vicious attack on two park rangers yesterday in the Boston Common was ordered held on $1 million cash bail today. Bodio Hutchinson pleaded innocent to numerous assault charges in the 4:36 p.m. alleged slashing that prosecutor Lynn Feigenbaum said left both rangers with five stab wounds each.

Two park rangers were stabbed on Boston Common Tuesday afternoon, according to a tweet from Fox 25. One of the stabbing victims is reportedly suffering from “serious/life threatening injuries.”

A small group of activists crossing the country speaking against illegal immigration, were chased out of Boston by a group of Spanish speaking immigrants Saturday while attempting to deliver a speech on Boston Common. While police continue to sweep heroin and crack fiends from the Boston Common and Public Garden, Mayor Thomas M. Menino is preparing to launch an anti-litter campaign for all the city's parks. Even with police trying to shut down the startling open-air drug abuse in and around the two premier greenspaces, some of it observed in broad daylight by the Herald in recent weeks, Menino said it was the right time to launch the litter crusade.
