Recounts in the tight race for the 2nd District seat in Congress will take place on Wednesday and Thursday. Republican challenger Renee Ellmers led seven-term incumbent Democrat Bob Etheridge by 1,489 votes, slightly less than 1 percent of all ballots cast, when vote totals were certified Friday. Etheridge immediately requested a recount.The district comprises 10 counties, including all or parts of Harnett, Sampson, Cumberland and Lee counties.
