Do bloggers need their own Norma Rae? In a move that might make some people scratch their heads, a loosely formed coalition of left-leaning bloggers are trying to band together to form a labor union they hope will help them receive health insurance, conduct collective bargaining or even set professional standar The effort is an extension of the blogosphere's growing power and presence, especially within the political realm, and for many, evokes memories of the early labor organization of freelance writers in the early 1980s. Organizers hope a bloggers' labor group will not only showcase the growing professionalism of the...

When gunmen start throwing one another off of rooftops, most people would recoil in horror and offer some word of criticism for those responsible. Most people would have no problem stating explicitly that it is wrong to murder men in front of their wives and children. Most people would also say, without much prodding, that cutting the legs off of the corpses of your political opponents in the street is a bad thing. Not only does such behavior make people think poorly of you, it is wrong. It is disgraceful. Nevertheless, there is one group of people in the United...

Mexican thugs and drug smugglers intent on crossing the U.S. border illegally, have now begun to set fire to forests and fields along the border to distract U.S. Border Patrol Agents to make their crossing easier. These criminal invaders are also throwing Molotov cocktails at agents’ vehicles as well as even setting fire to their observation posts. It is only a matter of time before these terrorist attacks result in the deaths of Border Patrol Agents and American civilians alike. One night early last month in Arizona, Border Patrol Agents chased five illegals back across the Mexican border. Once on...

America doesn't need a liberal Iraqi democracy to be safe; America needs to stop creating al-Qaida recruiting videos with its own foreign policy. The United Arab Emirates serve as an example of a friendly Middle Eastern nation; one that doesn't require American Democracy to avoid abetting terrorist cells, and one that apparently doesn't require American invasion. Supporters of the Iraqi occupation talk often of bringing "freedom" for the Iraqi people. But what is freedom for Iraqis, but from the war that is gripping them and destroying their lives? We should end the debate once and for all. America should put...

As a result of the Muslim atrocity of 9/11, Pres Bush declared war on terror. On Sept 20th he spoke to the combined houses and declared "On September the 11th, enemies of freedom committed an act of war against our country." Although he did call it an act of war, he limited the perpetrators to "enemies of freedom" even though all 19 hijackers were Muslims motivated by the Koran. And 15 of these were Saudis. He went on to name the perpetrators as members of al Qaeda. The terrorists practice a fringe form of Islamic extremism that has been rejected...

10:50 AM 4/18/2007 - Yesterday I was at the counter of the Sunrise Diner, where I often take my meals, seated next to one of AllentownÂ’s finest. Now, the counter at the Sunrise is divided into two halves, one smoking and one not. It doesnÂ’t matter to me except that the nonsmoking half is closer to the soup and salad bar, so thatÂ’s where I usually sit. Each half of the countor has its own TV; unfortunately, the smoking half gets to watch Fox News, while the soup hounds and nonsmokers have to watch CNN. IsnÂ’t balance a beautiful thing?...

In all coverage of the Iraq war, there is ample evidence to suggest a liberal bias. Constant coverage of suicide bombings, pools of blood, wailing women, men screaming for revenge, and Muqtada al Sadr calling for attacks on US forces -from Iran- while there is virtually no mention of any progress being made on the ground. But by far, the biggest -and most blatant- example of media bias comes in the recent coverage of Defense Secretary Robert Gates' April 4th interview with syndicated radio talk-show host Laura Ingraham. In the interview, Gates was quoted as saying "So far, so good"...

The MSM is still destroying the White House, the Bush administration and the War on Terror. Today, the Washington Post claims that a memo from the Department of State denies any ties with Saddam and Al-Quaeda. Since 9/11, the CIA is constantly denying every ties between terrorism and Iraq, even when the Iraqi governement claims these evidences are overhelming, like the VP Cheney admitted in 2004 (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5233810) and like the deputy prime minister of Iraq repeated after the Senate lies in last september. Even Bin Laden's mentor himself admitted : http://www.weeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/012/710goolj.asp?pg=2 Now it is clear that liberals will deny every...

A judge threw out a libel suit this week against one of Minnesota's most popular conservative bloggers, issuing a ruling that put the political Web site on the same legal ground as newspapers and broadcast news outlets. Michael Brodkorb, a political operative behind the site minnesotademocratsexposed .com, expressed relief at the dismissal. "I think this goes back to what I said from the beginning, that this was a frivolous lawsuit, and the court agreed with me," he said. "I'm glad that it's over." St. Paul-based public relations executive Blois Olson sued Brodkorb in January 2006. The suit centered on a...

Creepy nutroots freak Mike Stark is stalking Michelle Malkin. UPDATE at 3/2/07 5:47:26 pm: Does Stark’s picture remind you of anything? UPDATE at 3/2/07 6:01:46 pm: If you’re not familiar with Stark’s history, check out the posts at Hot Air. UPDATE at 3/2/07 6:07:36 pm: Allahpundit emails: Imagine the absolute nuclear outrage if some male righty blogger with a history of getting uncomfortably close to people on the other side faked his way into an event with Jane Hamsher (of firedoglake.com)? The left would be calling for him to be prosecuted. UPDATE at 3/2/07 6:33:36 pm: Here are the photos...

ALEXANDRIA, Egypt -- An Egyptian blogger was convicted Thursday and sentenced to four years in prison for insulting Islam, the Prophet Muhammad and Egypt's president, sending a chill through fellow Internet writers who fear a government crackdown. Abdel Kareem Nabil, a 22-year-old former student at Egypt's Al-Azhar University, an Islamic institution, was a vocal secularist and sharp critic of conservative Muslims in his blog. He also lashed out often at Al-Azhar - the most prominent religious center in Sunni Islam - calling it "the university of terrorism" and accusing it of encouraging extremism. *snip* Nabil, wearing a gray T-shirt and...

Excerpt - For three and a half years, a blogger named Pamela Jones has led a relentless online crusade against software maker SCO Group, posting thousands of articles bashing the company for suing IBM over the Linux operating system. Now the Lindon, Utah, software company is fighting back by seeking to take a deposition from Jones. Just one problem: They can't find her. SCO tried last week to serve a subpoena to Jones at a house in Darien, Conn., where they believe she's been living, but the attempt was unsuccessful, according to a person close to the matter, who spoke...

Well, so much for the whole 72 virgins thing and the radical Islamist desire to die in martyrdom: The story tonight in Iraq is not the arrival of more U.S. troops, but the departure of one of the country's most powerful men, Moqtada al Sadr and members of his army. According to senior military officials al Sadr left Baghdad two to three weeks ago, and fled to Tehran, Iran, where he has family. Al Sadr commands the Mahdi Army, one of the most formidable insurgent militias in Iraq, and his move coincides with the announced U.S. troop surge in Baghdad....

RALEIGH NC - - One of the chief campaign bloggers for Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards quit Monday after conservative critics raised questions about her history of provocative online messages. Amanda Marcotte posted on her personal blog, Pandagon, that the criticism "was creating a situation where I felt that every time I coughed, I was risking the Edwards campaign." Marcotte said she resigned from her position Monday, and that her resignation was accepted by the campaign. Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, demanded last week that Edwards fire Marcotte and a second blogger, Melissa...

Josh Wolf, a blogger who refused to give a videotape of a San Francisco anarchist protest to a federal grand jury, achieves an unwanted distinction today, when he becomes the longest-imprisoned journalist for contempt of court in U.S. history. Wolf, 24, is spending his 169th day at the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, surpassing the imprisonment of Vanessa Leggett, a Texas freelancer who defied a grand jury's subpoena in 2001 for notes from a book she was writing about a murder case. Leggett was freed when the grand jury's term expired. The grand jury in Wolf's case, which is investigating...

Sergeant in Afghanistan - Stop the BS and "Let's Get It Done" "It is proper to demand more from the man with exceptional advantages than from the man without them. A heavy moral obligation rests upon the man of means and upon the man of education to do their full duty by their country. On no class does this obligation rest more heavily than upon the men with a collegiate education, the men who are graduates of our universities. Their education gives them no right to feel the least superiority over any of their fellow-citizens..." - Theodore Roosevelt I've got...

Wednesday, October 25, 2006 And ANOTHER lying liberal blogger Over here (sorry about the bad formatting on that post), I talk about how liberals lie about what Rush said and did on a specific episode of his tv show so many years ago and go into great depth with many examples. And here is one liberal blogger who repeats the phony information. When he is corrected in the comments section of his blog: "This is the guy who held up a picture of Chelsea Clinton and called her a dog, when she was still a young teen." Didnt happen that...

US Army Watching BlogsPosted By Blackfive Note: One reason that I wanted "The Blog of War" published was to preserve several excellent military blogger entries from blogs that were either shut down by the military or the author decided to shut down in order to avoid trouble with the military (The Questing Cat, Armor Geddon, Training For Eternity, This Is Your War, A Day in Iraq, etc.). This topic is a difficult one for me to navigate. I hope this post effectively describes what I think about monitoring milblogs. I just spoke to an *ackk!!!* AP reporter who talked with...
