Thieves are targeting one type of car above all others, with this U.S. vehicle stolen far more frequently than any other make or model, new data shows.
The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, which retails for around $75,400, had a theft rate 39 times higher than the average for all vehicles with the model years 2022 to 2024, according to a new report from the Highway Loss Data Institute, or HLDI.
The Camaro sports car retails for between $32,495 and can rise to around $50,000, depending on the finishings, transmission type and other options a buyer selects.
Pickup trucks and other pricey or powerful models were also frequently stolen, and appear on the list of the top 20 vehicles with the highest claim frequencies for entire vehicle theft, according to the report.

Nice try, but I still REFUSE to buy an EV.
Maybe by the end of PDJT’s term, EVs will be relics and manufacturers won’t be making them. (Hoping.)

There seems to be conflicting data in these paragraphs, or am I misunderstanding.
In 1990, I returned to the airport from a business trip.
My camaro had been tampered with.
I notified airport security and requested a tow truck.
Turned out every Camaro in the lot (12 in total) had been tampered with. All were set to be easily hot wired.
The ZL1 is an options package. The package starts at $74,000.

It’s not you, I noticed it as well. Avoid business advice from businees reporter Megan Cerullo
Therefore the sentence should have read “The Camaro sports car retails for between $32,495 and can rise to over $75,000 with options”
Mr Vaskypilot likes retired police cars. I am glad to see the Ford Explorer on the least likely list.

Wow. Dad's first car was a brand new '69 Camaro. Sticker price, $1,500. (Car is with its ancestors in heaven, long since, but the sticker is still with us, framed in the family library.)
Least stolen vehicles... Anything electric. There is no aftermarket for electrical cars. They run, the battery dies... And then they are just trash.
6.2L turbo charged V8 (Vette) engine. Chop shop special. They want those engines & transmissions. Maybe a few of them end up in containers headed overseas?
I’d ask the author to provide comparable stats on this. At least in Minneapolis, cars badged KIA, are stolen about every
10 minutes.
I doubt there’s enough ZL-1’s in existence to rival that number.
I just avoid CBS entirely except the odd posting here on FR.

Hey look, it's the same general grill design as half the new cars and trucks have.
I also see a lot of vehicle body designs that are angular with corners like the newer Tacoma. I think some of that can be attributed to the Tesla truck.
Grill seems ... familiar. Big gaping hole in middle filled with black plastic honeycomb. Smaller grills on each side. Super common.

Seems like things went all aerodynamic for a while to save on fuel consumption, else the world was going to end. Guess they forgot all about that.
Tacoma tailgates go for a premium. A thief will remove tailgate and rip the wiring for backup cam at same time. About $2K to replace/repair I understand.
IMO, this is one of the baddest (in a good way) production cars available today. Ferocious-looking BEAST of a car with those "angel eye" headlights:

BEAST !!!

yep, the ultimate in throw-away vehicles ...
EV’s and cars with a manual tranny.
