Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced on Tuesday that he would file to vacate Democrat seats if they did not return to vote by the end of the week.
He declared that breaking quorum constitutes an abandonment of office.
Paxton said this on X:
“I will seek judicial orders declaring that runaway Democrats who fail to appear by the Speaker’s deadline have vacated their office,” Paxton said in a statement.
“The people of Texas elected lawmakers, not jet-setting runaways looking for headlines,” he added. “If you don’t show up to work, you get fired.”
Texas State House Speaker Dustin Burrows has set a Friday deadline for the fleebaggers to return and present themselves before the House.
Paxton previously vowed to ensure the runaway Democrats would face the full extent of the law.
House Democrats have fled the state in a cowardly desertion of their responsibilities.

I do not agree. Judges have no authority to change the rules of the legislature.
Fleeing the state of Texas to interfere with quorum rules cannot be allowed to stand. If not stopped, it can be used repeatedly to undermine the powers of the voters to elect representatives who will fulfill their duty.
This childishness is a conspiracy to stop the legislative process.
I would prosecute those who fled for their conspiracy to cancel the designated constitutional powers of the Texas legislature.
