Does the 'Nguoi Rung' roam the forests of Vietnam, or is it a legend? This is my strangest wildlife adventure yet. Through the years, I’ve searched for various rare animals—forest elephants in Borneo, tamaraw in the Philippines, lions in Africa, Komodo dragons in Indonesia. Today, we’re on the trail of an animal that probably doesn’t even exist. This is my first foray into the field of cryptozoology, the study of unknown animals. Bigfoot of North America, the Loch Ness Monster of Scotland, the Yeti of the Himalayas, and the Chupacabra of Mexico are among the world’s best-known cryptids. Most cryptids, like...

John O’Connor’s The Secret History of Bigfoot: Field Notes on a North American Monster is a work of mourning. Bigfoot, as O’Connor, a journalism professor, illustrates, is thriving—if by “Bigfoot” we’re talking about the legend of Sasquatch and the communities that have sprung up to seek out the hairy, towering primate said to lurk in the depths of America’s few remaining old-growth forests. It’s that Bigfoot, the symbol, who, O’Connor argues, flourishes and does so because of how much we’ve lost. This Bigfoot is a black armband commemorating everything from the environmental devastation wrought on the continent to the dearth...

One of President Joe Biden's long shot Democratic challengers released an ad Friday in which Bigfoot searches for the incumbent in New Hampshire.

The footprint, which measured around 9 inches in width, was found in a patch of mud in Ritchie County. There are few cryptozoological creatures that have generated as much debate and intrigue over the years as Bigfoot - a large hairy hominid said to roam the remote forests of North America. For many, Bigfoot is little more than a myth, while for others, its existence is undisputed - often due to a personal experience that has left little doubt in that person's mind that the creature is the real deal. One individual who would seem to fall firmly into the...

Arkansas may be the Razorback state, but Miller County residents live under the hairy shadow of a different beast. For decades, locals in the small town of Fouke and its surrounding area have said that something inhuman stalks the deep, dark swamps in their region...the Fouke Monster. Reba Killian was a little girl when she says she first saw the creature on a late-night drive. "Seven and a half to eight feet tall. And we just started screaming, we were banging on the truck trying to get our parents to stop because we were kids, nobody was going to believe...

A Cheyenne couple says they spotted Bigfoot while on a train ride in Colorado over the weekend. The video, of course, has gone viral and the media has gone bonkers over it. A Cheyenne couple might be among those to finally answer the age-old question of whether Bigfoot exits. Shannon Parker told Cowboy State Daily that she, her husband and another passenger aboard a train they were riding in Colorado on Sunday saw what very well could have been a specimen of the legendary creature. “From our perspective, it seemed pretty legit,” she said of the apparently huge, bipedal creature...

Incredible video that seemingly shows a Sasquatch darting through the woods of Mississippi is going viral, with some saying it’s the best footage of the creature ever captured. The video was recorded by Josh Highcliffe, who posted it to YouTube back in 2015, where it has clocked up more than 811,000 views. In a caption beneath the 2-minute clip, Highcliffe explained that he came across the creature ripping bark off a tree trunk and throwing it to the ground. He added that he was “afraid” of the hairy beast after stumbling across it on a hunting trip.

The hunt for the elusive creature - said to be 10ft tall, part man, part ape and otherwise known as the Abominable Snowman - has frustrated scientists for decades. Now tests at Oxford Brookes University on hairs said to be from a Yeti in India have failed to link the strands with any known species. Ape expert Ian Redmond, who is leading the research, said: "The hairs are the most positive evidence yet that a Yeti might possibly exist. "It may be that the region this animal is inhabiting is remote enough for it to remain undiscovered so far." The...

Scientists in the UK who have examined hairs claimed to belong to a yeti in India say that an initial series of tests have proved inconclusive. Ape expert Ian Redmond says the hairs bear a "startling resemblance" to similar hairs collected by Everest conqueror Sir Edmund Hillary. He told the BBC the Indian hairs are "potentially very exciting". After extensive microscope examinations, the hairs will now be sent to separate labs for DNA analysis.

A prominent Bigfoot hunter who claimed to have filmed the cryptid — and even sued the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to prove its existence — has died. Claudia Ackley, 51, was found dead at her Tennessee home on July 3 following a suspected heart attack, her heartbroken partner Ed Brown confirmed to the US Sun. After allegedly first sighting the mythical, hairy humanoid nearly a decade ago, Ackley devoted her life to showing that the species does exist — and to warn others that the creatures are dangerous. Brown told the Sun that the Bigfoot community had “lost...

YouTube wildlife documentarian Coyote Peterson has posted photos of what he claims is a “Bigfoot skull” that he found in British Columbia. Peterson broke the news on Facebook, explaining that he found “a large primate skull in British Columbia”, smuggled it through customs and TSA, and has placed the skull “in a secure location awaiting primatologist review.” According to Peterson, he though it was a bear skull when he found it, but is now “100% sure” it is not. He also warns that he is “sure these pics will be taken down… as will probably the video by government...

A creepy video captured by a man in Canada appears to show a pair of eerie figures stalking a deer in a forest and some suspect that the odd interlopers could have been Bigfoot. The strange scene was filmed earlier this year by Terence Leano as he was doing a live demonstration of his throat singing technique for his TikTok channel. As the start of the video, he acknowledges a deer that has emerged from the nearby woods in what he theorized was the creature "looking for where the sound was coming from" as he was talking to the viewers...
