I know some were asking the same question: why would White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles sit down with Vanity Fair for this candid interview? She offered brutal assessments of some of the Trump administration’s top figures, from JD Vance to Pam Bondi; Wiles was no-holds-barred. For starters, you need to talk to the media, even if you hate them. President Trump does this daily.
Second, it once again highlighted that even when you cooperate, and they all did, the mainstream press will still cook you. It’s why many have flocked to other sources of information. You can’t trust these guys covering this administration—ever. You already know this, but ‘Susiegate’, as some are calling it, while not pleasant for the top Trump aide, isn’t going to undercut or weaken her. To the contrary, the reaction to this piece showed how much power she wields.
Rachael Bade, formerly of Politico, wrote that the president and Wiles met privately about the article, where Trump was reportedly ‘unfazed’ by the piece. Even those Wiles criticized heavily came to her defense. Like clockwork, once the piece dropped, Wiles, who reportedly feels “blindsided” by the article, claimed a great many things were taken out of context:

The Republicans are like Lucy with the football. They keep thinking the press is going to be kind to them but they always pull the rug out from under him in the last second
I agree 100%. I thought Wiles was smart. There is something about Trump and apparently some of his staff where they want to engage with the mainstream media. Trump did it in his first term and got burned repeatedly. I thought they learned their lesson this time but apparently not. Now they all will complain and rage against the press. But its their own stupidity - including Trump’s stupidity - that puts them in this position.
WHY would the Chief of Staff do an interview especially with Vanity Fair. Look how they treat the First Lady. Wiles should have known better. Maybe it is time to replace her.
Yeah, whatever.
Jesse Kelly’s 2 minute rant on this. “Are we dealing with the dumbest people on the planet?”

Somebody in the White House should have told Susie that, if she walks into a Lion’s den, she’s gonna get bit.
No. That’s wrong to promote such dangerous attitudes. No.
Even if only said in jest. That’s the same tactic the Jasmine Crocketts of the Dem Party throw in our direction.
You would think a basic requirement for her job is to NOT be blindsided by such things.
You would think so, but apparently she was flattered to get out in the limelight. STUPID STUPID move.
If Wiles still “doesn’t know” any better than to conduct such a series of interviews, she is the wrong person to be Chief of Staff. At her age, she is not likely to change by very much. Too bad Rubio is needed elsewhere right now.
Anyone at Wiles level should know better - I think Trump is the best president we’ve had in the last 100 years, but one of the failings he had in his first term was not picking the right people, and at least this time (so far) it appears he only made one questionable choice.
Feeding the selfish ego can sometimes cause more dysfunction.
Everyone wants to be somebody. Fools rush in!
Following up on what you said, I think this is indicative of a bigger problem. writing an article about it now.
“ Saying you, as a conservative, were blind sided by an interview you gave to Vanity Fair…”
Apparently, she was blindsided 11 times, since she had 11 sessions of interviews with these Dims.
Maybe she learned a lesson. Some people learn from mistakes, others go back Jack and do it again.
Susie Wiles thought she was too big to fail. All these other people just don’t know how to walk into the lion’s den and come out untouched like she can; she is so grand and talented that she considers herself immune from the turbulence that would slap her lessers around.
After all, the first girl chief of staff; felt secure enough to advise Trump on issues she became an expert on suddenly — imposition of tariffs, for example.
What did you think was going to happen? How stupid can you be. I think she is just another Democrat Bush family plant thinking they are going to be back in power.
