A day after the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi that left Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead, local residents held a demonstration to express their support for the United States and their indignation at the radical Islamists’ violence. The gathering took place at Al-Shajara square. Demonstrators held posters with messages including, “Benghazi is against terrorism” and “Sorry Chris, Benghazi couldn’t protect you.” This photo of the demonstration was posted on Facebook.
