Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell has caved to outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and will allow the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to include the highly controversial media cartel bill the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act (JCPA), sources familiar with the matter told Breitbart News.Over objections from House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy, the likely next speaker of the House come January 3 of next year, other congressional leaders acquiesced to lobbyist pressure and agreed to include the JCPA in the base text of the NDAA. McCarthy was the only member of congressional leadership to...

Nestled among the 12 titles and 880 pages of the $2.2 trillion “Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act of 2020,” approved unanimously by the Senate late March 25, is a paragraph sending $400 million to state governments “to help prepare for the 2020 election.” The provision’s senatorial proponents promise it will enable state election officials to increase the ability of citizens nationwide “to vote by mail, expand early voting and online registration, and increase the safety of voting in-person by providing additional voting facilities and more poll-workers,” according to a summary prepared by Democratic staff members of the Senate...

Tea party groups in Kentucky have finally united behind one candidate. Kentucky businessman Matt Bevin today is declaring a primary challenge to Mitch McConnell. He’s going after McConnell’s record in the Senate. Having talked to a number of tea party groups in Kentucky, they are pretty united around this challenge for now. McConnell is wasting no time responding to Bevin with an attack ad calling him Bailout Bevin. I’m just not sure that’s the wisest first attack from McConnell given that McConnell authored it and pushed it through the Senate by loading it with sweetheart deals. From Congressional Quarterly: The...

Al Gore’s campaign against global warming is shifting into high gear. Reporters and commentators follow his every move and bombard the public with notice of his activities and opinions. But while the mainstream media promote his ideas about the state of planet Earth, they are mostly silent about the dramatic impact his economic proposals would have on America. And journalists routinely ignore evidence that he may personally benefit from his programs. Would the romance fizzle if Gore’s followers realized how much their man stands to gain? Earlier this year Gore experienced a notable public relations debacle. The Tennessee Center for...

Something Wicked This Way Comes Silencing The Media To anyone but the most ardent liberal, its quite apparent that the majority of the media is blatantly supporting Obama’s every action. The revelation that for 17 years Rahm Emmanuel (Obama’s Chief of Staff), George Stephanopoulos (ABC News), James Carville and Paul Begala (CNN) have had daily hour long calls that have continued into the Obama administration is but one example. Even though CNN is selling Obama shirts they will tell you they are not bias. Actions by the Obama administration have made it quite apparent to the media you are either...

Since the Democrats came to power in 2007 America has had nothing but grief and heartache with a 6000 point drop in the Dow and trillions of dollars of lost home value. First they hit us with punch one: their phony energy crisis. Now just as were getting up off our knees from that punch, they have slammed us with a second powerful punch to our mid section: their corrupt Fannie and Freddie mortgage mess crimes that threaten our whole economy. America is a powerful country. We can take one Democrat punch but maybe not two. The Democrat line, “We...

Talk about lipstick on a pig: the bailout measure, which began as a modest, $700-billion, three-page oink, reached the U.S. House of Representatives yesterday wearing about 450 pages of lipstick. Its maximum final cost was no longer calculable -- after bipartisan negotiations to add "sweeteners" to the thing, to buy it support from various congressional factions. Americans, and anyone else who happened to be watching (most of the world), got a good taste of what "Congressional oversight" means; to say nothing of the explanation of why, in opinion polls, the U.S. Congress enjoys even less popular esteem than President Bush....

If you were wondering how the Bush/Paulson financial bailout bill slipped past the Senate last night, the answer is all too familiar: too many senators signed onto this monstrosity after their pet pork was included. And what were among the emergencies that were included? This allegedly critical financial rescue bill is loaded down with tax breaks (or more precisely, extensions of current tax breaks) for such emergencies as: -- “Wooden arrows designed for use by children” This provision was put into the bill by Oregon Senators Smith and Wyden for the primary benefit of an Oregon arrow manufacturer…estimated to save...

We expect it from the likes of Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi, but when we hear conservatives from George Bush to David Brooks speak as if it’s a scientific fact that the only solution to the mortgage/liquidity mess is to put the geniuses of the federal government in charge of $700 billion of the people’s money, we immediately detect a powerful stink in the air. Yes, something smells rotten when a gang of politicians, bureaucrats, and CEO’s tell us they are so certain about their solution to a problem (which their rapacity created) that there is no need to consider...

The Senate Finance Committee has published a summary of some of the additions to the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act. There are many provisions in the bill that will directly benefit millions of Americans -- what's called the "AMT patch," for instance, which will protect 20 million middle class Americans from seeing a tax increase in 2009. Or tax deductions for tuition, and for teacher expenses. Corporations will see extensions of popular tax cuts -- for research and development, or renewable energies. But there's also some other stuff. My colleague Z. Bryon Wolf points out that it bears mentioning that all...

Remember all the doom and gloom warnings that if the $700 billion bailout bill did not pass yesterday that we would be facing an immediate financial collapse? Well, the bailout bill didn't pass yesterday thanks in large part to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's partisan rantings in that chamber. So today comes and instead of financial collapse and panic, the stocks surge as you can see in this Associated Press story. However, the fact that the economic sky did not fall hasn't kept the AP Chicken Littles from continuing to plug for that bailout bill (emphasis mine): NEW YORK (Sept. 30)...

The government has just extended it to $11,315,000,000,000 with their new bailout bill they have been feverishly working on. In written form, that is eleven trillion, three hundred fifteen billion dollars. With the population of the United States of America at 301,139,947, we are looking at each person owing $37, 573.90.
