Venezuelan police crushed and chopped up nearly 2,000 shotguns and pistols in a Caracas city square on Wednesday, as the new interior minister relaunched a long-stalled gun control campaign in one of the world's most crime-ridden countries. State officials may soon give police officers at Oregon University (OU) permission to carry firearms for the first time in the school’s 137-year history. Bethlehem police said three Lehigh University students who were walking alone at different times Thursday night were robbed by two men, one armed with a handgun. The college students – two men and a woman – were likely targeted by the men because they were walking alone, said Bethlehem police Detective William Dosedlo. In addition to stealing cash and cell phones from the victims, police said the robbers demanded their student identification cards – likely to intimidate the students from reporting the thefts to police.

The Philippine government is experiencing the same kind of compliance with their Gun Registration Amnesty as New Jersey had with their “assault weapon” turn in program of the 1990’s.
