Trump said, “I will ask Congress to send a bill to my desk…[for] national concealed carry reciprocity.”
He added, “Just like your driver’s license or your marriage license, your Second Amendment must apply across state lines. It will. We’ll get it done pretty quickly, too.”
BREAKING: Donald Trump calls for national concealed carry reciprocity at the NRA Convention: “Just like your driver's license or your marriage license, your Second Amendment must apply across state lines.”

Breitbart News reported that Trump stressed his support for national reciprocity going into his 2016 presidential campaign.
He did so via a policy paper on Second Amendment rights, saying:
The right of self-defense doesn’t stop at the end of your driveway. That’s why I have a concealed carry permit and why tens of millions of Americans do too. That permit should be valid in all 50 states. A driver’s license works in every state, so it’s common sense that a concealed carry permit should work in every state. If we can do that for driving — which is a privilege, not a right — then surely we can do that for concealed carry, which is a right, not a privilege.
During his speech Friday at the NRA Leadership Forum Trump also pledged a tax credit for teachers who train to be armed.

‘Second Amendment Must Apply Across State Lines’
The Second Amendment DOES APPLY across state lines.
He promised this his first run.
What we got was a ban on bump stocks, and not this.
I supported the guy from the day he announced. I will continue to support him.
That being said.....AT WHAT F*CKING POINT DO WE STOP RELYING ON THE FEDS TO DO EVERYTHING?
Reciprocity is an agreement between two states.
Somewhere, deep, deep down in the books of every state....in Georgia it’s the OCGA- Official Code of Georgia Annotated....are the guidelines for reciprocities for your Drivers License, Marriage License, etc etc etc.
One very slow night, me and a co-worker discovered that Georgia didn’t have reciprocity with California when it came to traffic summons. Meaning that if a Cali resident was pulled over in Georgia for a traffic violation, they couldn’t receive a ticket. They had to go to jail and make bond.
The state legislatures come to an agreement, shake hands and accept each others rules. For years, a Georgia CCW license was not valid in South Carolina. SC mandated a class and simple shooting course(which I’m in total agreement with). Georgia did not.
Why can’t the Feds just stay out of it? If NY doesn’t want to recognize a CCW from Georgia, big EFFIN’ deal. If you’re from Georgia, don’t go to NY. WTF!!!!!
What we got was a ban on bump stocks, and not this.
Are you kidding? He was getting hammered from all sides and still got a lot done. But he didn't get this one. He was also avoiding the many assassination attempts and impeachments.
Sounds like the Dems got your mind right. Really sick of you anti-Trumpers. Whine some more. Maybe Haley will fulfill your dreams.
The bumpstock ban prez…. Lol. His record speaks louder than his political blather. The lockdown, bumpstock banning Pfizer Moderna king has a record.
He can talk, talk talk… but what he has done for isclear evidence of what he believes as principle.
The President does not makes laws. Blame Congress.
I’ll politely disagree. How is it a federal issue, just because liberal states won’t do what you think they should be doing.
The people of each state vote for and elect people to represent them and enact the laws they want. If the legislature in the states you mentioned don’t want it, don’t go to the states.
I carry, damn near all the time, I have family in two of the states you mention. If I make a decision to visit them, then I’m making an informed decision to visit without my Glock. That simple.
The Federal Government has nothing to do with it.
Decades ago, when Republicans controlled the House, the Senate, and the Presidency, the House passed a national reciprocity bill. Senate President McConnell refused to allow it to be heard.
That is what they can use to pit one against another, and generate money and votes from the heat.
With more than half the States having Constitutional Carry, I would think the Supreme Court would be hard pressed to find any gun control laws at the State level, valid anymore.
“national reciprocity”
All that is needed for that is for the government to come up with a law that defines minimum requirements to obtain a conceal or open carry license.I also believe there should be a certain number of training hours required not only how to use a fire arm but also when to use one.
I heard this in 2015 during the campaign. Nothing can happen without congress. Let’s hear a majority say this and I’ll believe it.
Free, American states like Montana and Arkansas don’t require a “license”. Are the un-American states going to honor that?
Okay, and through 2020 nothing was done.
The coninwombatboots will be along in no time to bring up Syrians or something.
Oops, I should have read downthread before replying, it took him all of sixteen minutes to throw the spam.
Just return to the procedures that were in place in the 1700s when the second amendment was restricted.

So you’re OK with Mississippi, for example, reinstating chattel slavery? “Hey, I just won’t go there. It’s their choice! “
BS. The Second Amendment recognizes and protects a FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT OF ALL AMERICANS. It is absolutely the place, and indeed the duty, of the Federal Government to make all states play by those rules, by force if necessary.
