Donald Trump seems to get indicted on a weekly basis. Yet he is utterly dominating his Republican rivals in the polls, and he is tied with Joe Biden in the general election surveys. Trump’s poll numbers are stronger against Biden now than at any time in 2020. What’s going on here? Why is this guy still politically viable, after all he’s done? We anti-Trumpers often tell a story to explain that. It was encapsulated in a quote the University of North Carolina political scientist Marc Hetherington gave to my colleague Thomas B. Edsall recently: “Republicans see a world changing around...

In an interview with Vanity Fair today, Rian Johnson, who directed the popular movie "Knives Out," shared an interesting tidbit about iPhone product placement deals for films. Apple, he says, allows iPhones to be used in movies, but bad guys aren't allowed to have iPhones on camera. The relevant passage starts at 2:50 into the video Also another funny thing, I don't know if I should say this or not... Not cause it's like lascivious or something, but because it's going to screw me on the next mystery movie that I write, but forget it, I'll say it. It's very...

Gun control advocates have speculated about the gunman in Philadelphia who wounded six police officers on Wednesday. They were quick to assume that somehow America's so-called "lax" gun laws were to blame for the man having access to a firearm. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the gunman is 36-year-old, Maurice Hill, who has a long criminal history of gun convictions, resisting arrest and drug dealing. Hill was reportedly identified when an anonymous source told the Inquirer Hill's lawyer, Shaka Mzee Johnson, received a phone call asking him to come to the apartment building he was barricaded in.

A report published on Jan. 9 by the Department of Justice (DOJ) found that in 2016, criminals who carried firearms while they committed crimes most frequently obtained the guns either off the street or underground, rather than through legal purchases. The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) reported that an estimated 287,400 prisoners possessed a gun in 2016 while they committed the crimes for which they were imprisoned. Of these, “more than half (56%) had either stolen it (6%), found it at the scene of the crime (7%), or obtained it off the street or from the underground market (43%). Most...

When the boys in blue have to catch a handfull of bad apples, why take the time to climb a fence when you could just bust through it? In this video we see two cops taking the “straightforward method” of getting to the perp, busting through a helpless fence like the Kool-Aid Man with a schedule to keep. While you might be able to find fault with their destruction of presumably private property –and the construction of the fence– you can’t find any with their effectiveness! Shout out to the perp who jumps the fence twice to get away from...

Don't try this at home.)Majoue was captain of the wrestling team at Brother Martin in the early '90s. That sets up the rest of the story. 3/2/2006 - LOS ANGELES AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. (AFPN) -- When U.S. forces get to Iraq and Afghanistan, they’re finding dry, featureless terrain with no real landmarks or points of reference to use when they travel across these wide-open and often dangerous landscapes. In the past, maps and a compass were the decisive tools used by servicemembers to track down the enemy and find their exact location in theater. That’s no longer the case. Warfighters are now turning to a 12-channel device known as the Defense Advanced Global Positioning System Receiver, or DAGR, to get vital information. A screen about...

WASHINGTON - Al-Qaida may attempt to attack Veterans Affairs hospitals as an alternative to more heavily guarded U.S. military installations, the FBI and Homeland Security Department warn in a new nationwide terrorism bulletin. Although U.S. authorities say there is no credible intelligence regarding a specific threat against such hospitals, the bulletin said there have been persistent reports of "suspicious activity" at medical facilities throughout the United States. That includes "possible reconnaissance activities" this year at unspecified military medical facilities in Bethesda, Md., and Aurora, Colo., the bulletin said. Even though later investigation of these two incidents uncovered no links to...
