Maura Healey relied on “unlawful” no-bid contracts — some to political allies — to fund her massive program of free housing for migrants. The new report released on Tuesday claims that Healey dispensed with the proper competitive bidding process, mismanaged contracts, and did not keep proper records, the Boston Globe reported. The auditor alleges that the lack of transparency and “lack of administrative oversight” led to massive waste in funding the migrant shelters.

Problematic, in a very big way even if the offer was made.Qatar’s ties to Al Qaeda and ISIS aren’t news. They’ve effectively served as intermediaries in everything from ransom exchanges for hostages to Taliban negotiations. But actually trying to secure terrorist swaps for prisoners on their own behalf would have been a new frontier. Before he was released from a U.S. maximum-security prison last week, a confessed al Qaeda sleeper agent was offered up in a potential prisoner swap that would have freed two Americans held abroad.According to two individuals with direct knowledge of the case, the proposition was...

FRANKFORT — Kentucky Republicans didn't settle for Matt Bevin's win in the governor's race; the GOP scored a major upset with Mike Harmon defeating Democratic incumbent auditor Adam Edelen. Harmon, who was widely outspent, won 52 percent of the vote, throwing up a roadblock to Edelen's future ambitions, perhaps as a challenger next year to U.S. Sen. Rand Paul. Edelen is considered Kentucky Democrats' rising star and best politician, in the mold of populists like Wendell Ford. He ran on a strong record of exposing wasteful spending by special taxing districts, a former commissioner of agriculture and auditing public schools....

I am not one to frown on a drink while I am at a social gathering with friends, but prudence is certainly on my mind. Missouri State Auditor Susan Montee does not seem to share the same opinion, at least if she is to be judged based on this video clip. It appears that she enjoyed a few too many sips at the Democrat Days in Hannibal, MO. Watch – and pay attention towards the end as she jokes about using “contributor money” for a margarita machine in her state car. VideoIf I can be blunt for one moment I...

Suzanne Bump is the former Secretary of Labor and Economic Development for MA Gov. “Coupe” Deval Patrick, and the current Dem nominee for State Auditor in Massachusetts. She and her husband own two homes. One is in the western Mass town of Housatonic, and the other is in South Boston. Somehow, Ms. Bump has deluded herself into thinking that she can register both homes as primary residences. Mind you, she claims that she is following both the letter and the spirit of the law when claiming that: (1) Her South Boston residence is her “principal” residence, and apparently has received...
