    Kaukji is the predestined commander-in-chief of a volunteer army for Palestine. Together with the Grand Mufti, whose confidant and best friend he is, he was one of the ringleaders of the bloody Palestinian Arab uprising against Jewish immigration in 1936-39. He was severely wounded at that time and fled Palestine. During the war, he met with the Grand Mufti, who had also gone on a journey, in Germany.
