The Washington Times announced Thursday that it is moving aggressively into the burgeoning marketplace of on-demand radio, forming a partnership with the Kaliki Audio Newstand, the first major player to bring streaming news talk radio into Americans’ cars. Beginning in early March, The Times will broadcast daily and weekly shows into millions of cars rolling off assembly lines at major automakers including Ford and General Motors. Parks was once half of the “Grandy and Andy” morning show on WMAL (630), working with former TV actor and ex-Congressman Fred Grandy. More recently, he partnered with the Washington Times newspaper to create a daily radio show based in its newsroom, and carried on a regional network around Washington DC that included Metro Radio’s WTNT (730 plus a translator at 102.9). DCRTV hears that DC area talker WTNT, 730 AM, will soon get an FM relay on 102.9. Bruce Houston, head of Vienna-based Metro Radio, tells us that he's got a contract to purchase the low-power license from Lynchburg's Liberty University. When launched in a few weeks from a tower off West Ox Road in Fairfax, the new FM signal should cover much of Fairfax County day and night, Houston says. I've been tuning in to Andy Parks' radio show, Andy Parks Live from the Washington Times since it began seven weeks ago. By now, it seems Andy's settling in to the show quite nicely. I enjoy the drive home, and he mentioned today that he'll be taking calls soon; up to this point the show was mostly news and commentary, with guests from the Washington Times reporters and columnists. A familiar voice is back. Veteran radio host and newsman Andy Parks will return to the Washington airwaves with an afternoon program that combines his inimitable personality with a powerful news source and established media brand. “Andy Parks Live From The Washington Times” debuts Aug. 22 from a studio overlooking the newsroom of The Washington Times. The afternoon drive-time show from 3 to 6 p.m. will be heard on Metro Radio Inc. stations WTNT-AM (730) and WKDL-AM (1250), and streamed live on washingtontimes.com and 730wtnt.com.

The longtime host of "Grandy & Andy" on Washington, DC's WMAL-AM (630) left the news/talk station in March 2010, ending his 25-year partnership with former Iowa Rep. Fred Grandy after the station decided to go in a different direction in mornings. Parks, a well-known airborne traffic reporter before becoming the morning show co-host, has been off the air since his departure from the Citadel-owned station. Parks will now be heading across town in the Nation's Capital, joining WTNT-AM (730) for afternoon drive, becoming the host of his own show that will include Washington Times Columnists Jeff Kuhner and Jennifer Harper....

Fred Grandy (a.k.a Gopher from "The Love Boat) and Andy Parks are out. FishbowlDC sources have confirmed and DCRTV (www.dcrtv.com) is reporting that WMAL's (630 AM) duo has been fired. Grandy is a former Republican member of Congress. It won't happen immediately -- their end date is still up in the air. The news has been circulating at the station all day long. Word has it that corporate-wide cuts of the most expensive employees are necessary to save money. Station manager Paul Duckworth did not return a phone request for comment at FBDC press time.

You cite a USA/Gallop poll showing Senator Allen up by 3 points. It looks suspiciously like the USA poll from 8/21/2006. Yesterday morning, you mention bot Senator Allen and James Webb are tied. You did not report at all on the Zogby poll showing Senator Allen with an 11 point lead. Your reporting concerning the local polls is dishonest. But who cares about honesty as long you get the ratings. I will mention to all concerning your dishonest election coverage.

A very interesting conversation this morning on WMAL. Andy Parks and Bryan Nehman (a dimwit if there ever was one) were discussing the court ruling from yesterday concerning the NSA wire tapping. Andy basically came out and stated he wants a bumper sticker saying DEMOCRATS=TERRORISTS. He also said the Dems would be happy if there was another attack on America. The dimwit was aghast that someone would say such a thing. Callers called in and basically agreed with Andy. There was one caller who called them a bunch of government supporting statists. Kudos for Andy calling that guy a dummy!...

On WMAL’s Sam Donaldson show this morning, Sam closed his last program by stating “You know the old saying, God protects fools, drunks, and the United States of America. He’s got His work cut out for Him.” I am highly pissed off that you allow this anti-American tripe go unchallenged. The other night, Chris Core encouraged his listeners to call Channel 9, WUSA, and complain about 60 Minutes showing more prison photos. How would you like the same done to you. I demand an apology to all of WMAL’s listeners for this anti-American viewpoint.

Driving to work this morning, I was listening to Fred Grandy and Andy Parks on WMAL. They discussed how both parties are dredging up the past of Viet Nam, failing to mention that it is Kerry who continues to bring up his service time. The also fail to mention how the democrats label conservatives as murderers of women and children, how President Bush is called a draft dodger or being AWOL, or how Kerry called service men in Nam baby-killers, rapists, and murderers.
