FRED GRANDY AND ANDY PARKS

Posted on 04/29/2004 4:21:59 AM PDT by 7thson

Driving to work this morning, I was listening to Fred Grandy and Andy Parks on WMAL. They discussed how both parties are dredging up the past of Viet Nam, failing to mention that it is Kerry who continues to bring up his service time. The also fail to mention how the democrats label conservatives as murderers of women and children, how President Bush is called a draft dodger or being AWOL, or how Kerry called service men in Nam baby-killers, rapists, and murderers.

I sent them an email, which is below. If any of you want to email them and express your opinion, here are their email addresses -

Dear Fred and Andy -

Both of you this morning mentioned how counter-productive it is for both political parties to bring up the past of Viet Nam concerning the careers of Senator Kerry and President Bush. What you do not place into proper context however, is that it is Senator Kerry and his campaign staff that has raised the issue of Viet Nam. Nearly every speech he gives, the Senator feels the need to mention his Viet Nam service.

President Bush has never bragged about his military service. Like millions of us – those who served in the military – he did his time, did his job, and got out. For someone who disliked the Viet Nam war as much as Senator Kerry professes, he cannot stop talking about it.

Senator Kerry came back from Viet Nam and instead of moving on, decided to lambaste and slander those who served. He’s called soldiers, marines, sailors, and airmen in Viet Nam baby killers, murderers, and rapists! I have two brothers who served in Viet Nam – one in the Army and another in the Marines. I can tell you now that they are not murderers of women and children and I resent Senator Kerry for labeling them as such!

Senator Kerry raised the topic of Viet Nam. The Republicans now want to discuss his behavior during and after the war, as is their right to do so, since the good Senator continues to talk about this subject. You two – as journalists, talk-show hosts, whatever you want to label yourselves – have an obligation to your listeners to discuss and dissect Senator Kerry’s remarks from the past and today.

Below is an excerpt from the Boston Globe concerning an exchange between the Senator and a typical Democrat. Once again, Republicans are labeled as murderers of women and children, and the Senator cannot bring himself to forcibly distance himself from that type of remark. I resent people labeling me and my party as such, but I resent more that individuals such as yourselves fail to bring this matter to the attention of your listeners.

At a town hall meeting in Toledo, Kerry spoke dismissively of the president, saying Bush had been ''selected" to hold office by the Supreme Court and had broken with most US presidents, including Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton, who had worked with other nations and alliances on global concerns. And Kerry nodded as one audience member, 74-year-old Dorothy Sahadi, accused Vice President Dick Cheney of engineering an ''invasion" of Iraq to benefit Halliburton, the energy giant he once headed, then said of Cheney and Iraqis: ''How many has he murdered? He has murdered women, children, babies for nothing, just for the money in his pocket."

Well, in general I love both Fred and Andy, though they may have made a verbal misstep in this case. But the reallly great talent at that station is Mike Graham. He absolutely skewers liberals in a very funny, witty way, and his logic is flawless. If you're not in the DC area you can listen to him online at www.wmal.com from 10-11:45 EDT. Great new talent.

WTOP has much better traffic reports. Andy has gone through at least 5 different co-hosts over the last few years & I quit listening after Bill Press & the other lady left. They made the morning drive somewhat bearable - never a dull moment.

Actually, I am of the opinion that WMAL has better traffic. That is why I switched from WTOP to WMAL. Also, I thought the show with Press and that female was nearly unbearable. It was okay with Press and Parks, but I thought the woman to be ignorant and uninformed. I like the current format with the exception that they stopped taking phone calls in the morning. To each his own, I guess.
