A YES vote on Proposition KK would mean: a new tax on firearms, firearm parts, ammunition, and using the revenue for crime victim services, mental health services for veterans and youth, and school safety programs. A NO vote would mean: the state’s taxation of firearms and ammunition will not change. A new ballot measure in November would create a 6.5% excise tax on firearm-related purchases within the State of Colorado. The ballot measure, titled Proposition KK, is the result of a bill that was signed into law in May of 2024, but because it deals with taxes, it must be...

Aug. 21 (UPI) -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection said on Wednesday that its officers at the El Paso port of entry confiscated 92,000 rounds of large-caliber ammunition leaving the United States over the weekend. The seized ammunition nearly tripled the amount of ammunition agents seized in outward bound inspections at the El Paso field office over the past three fiscal years combined, CBP said. Border Patrol said the ammunition was found on a commercial bus leaving the United States for Mexico at the Bridge of America port of entry in El Paso. "CBP's primary mission is to inspect all...

Chris Baker at Lucky Gunner has produced a very good video summation of the use of handguns to defend against bears published on AmmoLand. The graphics in the video are well done. There were over 95 thousand views in five days, with 748 comments. The vast majority of comments were favorable. This is a well-made video worth watching if you prefer to obtain your information via video instead of print. The video is 11:48 minutes long. Chris has obviously studied the data collected and analyzed it from the long-running series at AmmoLand. He has created a good narrative and visual...

During Monday’s airing of ABC’s The View, host Joy Behar suggested a “20 year-old white guy” buying 50 rounds of ammunition “should be reported.” SkyNews.com.au noted Behar and the other hosts were discussing the failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump, which had occurred two days prior, and Behar said, “According to a CNN report, a senior law enforcement official said that [the would-be assassin] bought 50 rounds of ammunition from a local gun store hours before the rally.” Behar then looked up at her fellow hosts and said, “Shouldn’t that have been reported? Somebody buys 50, a 20-year-old white guy,...

Their vending machines are locked and loaded. Two grocery stores in Alabama are selling gun ammunition in artificial intelligence-powered “retail kiosks” that scan buyers’ identification cards and faces before spitting out bullets. The refrigerator-sized machines, located at Fresh Value stores in Tuscaloosa and Pell City, use 360-degree facial recognition to verify a customer’s age and ID in order to make it easier for folks to get firearm ammo, AL.com reported. “One of the ways we’re changing the landscape of ammunition sales is to make it more available,” a rep for American Rounds, which operates the machines, said in a promo...

On Monday’s broadcast of “CNN This Morning,” Biden Campaign Co-Chair Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) said that Israel dropping leaflets warning civilians is “yet another example” “of the IDF continuing to follow the rules of war.” But the reported paused ammunition shipment to Israel “does signal that there are grave concerns on the part of many of us. It is a reminder that many have raised concerns about the conduct of what might be the last phase of this war in Gaza” in Rafah.

The Biden administration last week put a hold on a shipment of U.S.-made ammunition to Israel, two Israeli officials told Axios. Why it matters: It is the first time since the Oct. 7 attack that the U.S. has stopped a weapons shipment intended for the Israeli military. The incident raised serious concerns inside the Israeli government and sent officials scrambling to understand why the shipment was held, Israeli officials said.

BOCA RATON, Fla., Jan. 31, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Marking a major victory for California gun owners and advocates of Second Amendment rights, a federal court in the District of Southern California today ruled to strike down the state's 2019 ammunition law requiring in-person background checks for every individual purchase of standard ammunition. The decision comes after a knockout lawsuit—uniting the national online discount ammo retailer Ammunition Depot, the California Rifle & Pistol Association (CRPA), and Olympic shooter Kim Rhode, among others—and challenging the new process' excessive restrictions on law-abiding residents. The court firmly sided with challengers in concluding that the...

The Attorneys General of 28 states are demanding that President Joe Biden ignore a request to investigate the Lake City Army Ammunition plant’s policy of selling 5.56 mm rifle ammunition to civilians. A Jan. 24 letter written by Attorneys General Andrew Bailey of Missouri, Brenna Bird of Iowa, and Todd Rokita of Indiana and signed by 25 other attorneys general, warns that ending sales would harm America’s military readiness and do nothing to prevent crime. The letter derides a previous missive, dated Jan. 9 and written by New York Attorney General Letitia James and signed by 19 other Attorneys General...

Ukraine is running out of the ammunition needed for its US-supplied Howitzer guns as additional American aid for its military is held up by Congress — all while Russia is quickly bolstering its firepower, Kyiv soldiers warned. A Ukrainian artillery crew operating an M109 Paladin Howitzer said they have been forced to start rationing their shells to try to beat back Russia’s forces near Bakhmut because of the dwindling supply.

NY Attorney General hates the thought of everyday Americans owning firearms. She works tirelessly to attack gun owners at every turn, including trying to run the NRA out of business. As if her current civil corruption trial of Wayne LaPierre isn’t enough, on Wednesday she launched a new front in her war for civilian disarmament: surplus Lake City 5.56 ammo.

New York Attorney General Letitia James led a multi-state coalition of 20 attorneys general calling on the Biden administration to halt the sale of 5.56 caliber ammunition to civilians by the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, a Missouri-based supplier for the U.S. military. “Billions of rounds of military-grade ammunition manufactured at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant have been sold on the commercial market, leading to their use in many of the most tragic mass shootings in recent history,” the AGs stated in a Jan. 9 letter to the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. “We ask your Office...

Furthermore, ammunition vendors must conduct...

Once upon a time, Israel did this too—how’d that work out? Just today I penned a blog on news out of Texas that a Trump-appointed federal judge had issued a nationwide stay on the ATF’s pistol brace ban—but the high was short-lived. Allow me to explain: In a move that the Democrats and the bureaucratic left clearly would have anticipated, the judge in that case announced that “public safety concerns must be addressed in ways that are lawful.” Gee, what a concept, the federal government (at least somewhat and sometimes) being held to the supreme law of the land too?...

Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) are pushing legislation to require background checks for ammunition purchases. They are joined by other Democrats, including Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL). The Democrats are pushing the Ammunition Modernization and Monitoring Oversight Act, or AMMO Act for short. In addition to requiring background checks for ammo purchases, Redstate noted the Act would also limit the number of rounds law-abiding citizens can buy over a five-day period and mandate that ammo dealers get a license separate from the Federal Firearms License (FFL) required for gun sales.
