The youngest witness to George Floyd's death in 2020 published a children's book detailing her perspective and the weeks to follow. Judea Reynolds, 11, released her book "A Walk to the Store" on Friday, the day Floyd would have celebrated his 49th birthday. Floyd was killed on Memorial Day 2020, when former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin held his knee to Floyd's neck for more than nine minutes. Reynolds was nine years old when she witnessed Floyd's death after walking to a store to buy snacks with her then 17-year-old cousin, Darnella Frazier, who had recorded Chauvin and Floyd.

But it could be argued that Hemingway should have either chosen his battles more wisely or stayed out of some altogether. During the Spanish Civil War he fought on the side of the Communists. I want to be clear as a tolling bell here. I am NOT saying he should have been fighting on the side of the Fascists. He shouldnÂ’t have been there at all. The Spanish Civil War was not a war of good against evil; it was a war of two evils, between two man-centered ideologies, two modern scourges that continue to reverberate and manifest themselves long...

Bob Woodward's new book, "Fear: Trump in the White House," sold more than 750,000 copies through its first day of release, the most for any title in Simon & Schuster history, according to the 94-year-old publisher. The investigative book by the veteran Watergate reporter, who has written books about every administration dating back to President Nixon, was powered by excerpts published before the book's public release Tuesday and President Trump's public rejection of it. Trump called the book "a con on the public" consisting of quotes that are "made up frauds" designed to boost Democrats ahead of the 2018 midterm...

Former White House staffer Omarosa Manigault-Newman said President Trump's mental decline "could not be denied" while he appeared for an interview with NBC News's Lester Holt in 2017, according to an excerpt in her new book obtained by The Daily Mail. "'While watching the interview I realized that something real and serious was going on in Donald's brain," she writes in "Unhinged: An Insider's Account of the Trump White House," which is set to be released on Aug. 14. "His mental decline could not be denied.'" Manigault-Newman added that "many didn't notice it as keenly as I did because I...

A 47-year-old mystery finally may be resolved. Grand Rapids-based publisher Principia Media announced yesterday it has released a book that allegedly reveals the real identity of “D.B. Cooper,” the infamous skyjacker who in 1971 demanded a $200,000 ransom on board a flight from Portland, Oregon to Seattle’s Sea-Tac airport, before jumping 10,000 feet to his escape. The book, “D.B. Cooper & Me: A Criminal, A Spy, My Best Friend,” is by Carl Laurin, an alleged friend of the skyjacker, and details an investigation into Cooper’s identity. Laurin claims that Cooper was the late "military paratrooper, daredevil and intelligence operative" Walter R. Reca, Principia Media said. Reca,...

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said he regrets choosing former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) to be his running mate during the 2008 presidential campaign. The New York Times reported on Saturday that McCain, while still defending Palin’s performance, said in his upcoming book “The Restless Wave” that he wishes he had instead selected former Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.) His advisers reportedly had warned against choosing Lieberman, who was once a Democrat, stating that Lieberman’s support of abortion rights could divide Republicans. “It was sound advice that I could reason for myself,” he writes. “But my gut told me to ignore...

Facing down an aggressive brain tumor that's kept him out of Washington for months, John McCain appears to be taking a hard look at his own mortality vis-a-vis his forthcoming book, The Restless Wave. "This is my last term," he writes in excerpts out now, via NPR and the Daily Beast. "If I hadn't admitted that to myself before this summer, a stage 4 cancer diagnosis acts as ungentle persuasion. I'm freer than colleagues who will face the voters again. I can speak my mind without fearing the consequences much." On President Trump: "He has declined to distinguish the actions...

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is set to offer a "no-holds-barred" assessment of the Trump administration in a new memoir. The book's publisher, Simon and Schuster, said Monday that the title, "The Restless Wave," will begin with McCain's 2008 White House run against now-former President Barack Obama, and will reflect on his time in the Senate during Obama's tenure in office, according to AFP. But he will also "share his experiences during the divisive 2016 election and his no-holds-barred opinions on the current developments coming out of Washington," the publisher said.

Time magazine released a list of 2017's best non-fiction books Tuesday, and the winning author is the candidate who finished second in the presidential election. Hillary Clinton's election memoir What Happened grabbed Time‘s No. 1 spot. The blurb accompanying the book's position on the list reads, "Clinton offers one answer to the question that rang collectively from more than half the country on Nov. 9, 2016. The writing is frank, reflective and a piece of modern history." Clinton tweeted that she was honored for her placement the list. ✔ Wow. I wasn’t sure how letting my guard down would go...but...

Hillary Clinton calling new book 'What Happened' Updated: July 27, 2017 — 9:13 AM EDT NEW YORK (AP) - Hillary Clinton is calling her new book "What Happened" and promising unprecedented candor as she remembers her stunning defeat last year to Donald Trump. "In the past, for reasons I try to explain, I've often felt I had to be careful in public, like I was up on a wire without a net," Clinton writes in the introduction, according to publisher Simon & Schuster. "Now I'm letting my guard down." Simon & Schuster told The Associated Press on Thursday that Clinton's...

Amy Schumer’s book, “The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo” — despite being No. 1 on the best-seller list for two weeks — is a disappointment, sources say. Although it sold 36,000 hardcover copies in its first week, Simon & Schuster paid $9 million for the funny memoir. “The publishers are hugely disappointed. They are going to lose a ton of money,” an industry insider told the New York Post.

Rebel Without A Clue by: Malcolm A. Kline, December 04, 2007 It always mystifies the education-for-social-change crowd that no one is quite as excited about their pet causes as they are. “While there is no inopportune time to teach protest art, the present moment, marked by a perpetual ‘war on terror’ and the contraction of civil liberties, dramatic and growing inequality, and a remarkably narrow mainstream political spectrum, offers an especially compelling context in which to explore with students the tradition of artworks that seek to challenge injustice, promote oppositional thinking, and spark counter-hegemonic political activism,” Joseph Entin writes in...
