I know things are tough out there, folks -- but its got to be even more tough for our wonderful men and women in uniform serving overseas. If you haven't done it before, or time has passed you by (like me, something you've been meaning to do, but haven't) -- make this year to be the year that you resolve to tell a complete stranger how much you appreciate his/her hard work in securing your liberties and freedoms. An e-mail costs nothing, and means everything. Pass on your sunshine to another. Because my feeling is, they really need it now!

Civilians, soldiers serve side by side in Iraq Opinion | Editorial Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch | Monday, July 30, 2007 at 12:30 am Two months ago I celebrated my 30th anniversary with the Army. During all those years, I've been privileged to command fine American Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and Sailors. All are patriotic servants in our uniformed services. The fight in Iraq is truly a joint effort- Navy electronic warfare officers and explosive ordnance disposal teams are helping to keep our roadways clear. The Air Force is providing amazing support to ground commanders. And our Marines are fighting side-by-side with...

GRAND PRAIRIE – Sgt. Chris Hockman didn't hear the 18 first-graders chanting his name minutes before he arrived in their room at Moore Elementary School on Monday. But he has been feeling their love for five months. The students have been writing to Iraq since November, when their teacher, Claudia Flores, "adopted" Sgt. Hockman through the nonprofit group Operation AC. He has become so close to the students, he decided to spend part of his two-week leave meeting them. "I didn't know when I would get back again, and in a few weeks the kids will be out for the...

FORT BENNING, Ga., Mar 06, 2003 (AP Online via COMTEX) -- Pamela Bates worried about getting depressed after her husband shipped out to Kuwait for the possible war with Iraq. Her solution was a project that keeps her busy 16 hours a day and lifts the spirits of thousands of soldiers living in tent cities in the Kuwaiti desert. Her Adopt-A-Soldier Web site - Hugs to Kuwait - was originally intended to serve only members of her husband's unit, the First Battalion of the 10th Artillery Regiment from Fort Benning. But the overwhelming response from soldiers, military families and...

To my Rush Limbaugh donor, I am writing to thank you for your Adopt A Soldier subscription to the Rush 24/7 program. I was thrilled and pleasantly surprised at how quickly the process was completed and matched with your generous gift. I must admit I was somewhat reluctant at first to participate as I felt a little guilty for accepting such a contribution. However, Rush eloquently addressed my reservations on his show last week and I signed up the very next day. My name is [name withheld] and I am a [rank withheld] in the United States Air Force. My...

Sergeant Clay: Afghanistan Vet and Adopt-A-Soldier Adoptee in the UK November 22, 2005: A Fourth Hour Phone Call Download Windows Media PlayerListen to Rush Conduct Broadcast Excellence BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: This is Sergeant Clay calling from the UK, the United Kingdom. Welcome, sergeant, to the program. It's an honor to have you with us. CALLER: Oh, my gosh! Hey, Rush. Professor Limbaugh, mega-mega-megadittos if ever such a thing there could be. We owe it all to you, brother. I just wanted to call and to let you know I've been listening to you since 1989, and I've been a...

Rush today claimed the left was bashing his 24/7 offer to 'adopt a soldier' because they wanted to bash him. The reality is this - the left fears the volunteer army now and in the future because they have lost the 'moral high ground' of the anti-war movement of the Vietnam era and they fear most of all the serving members getting used to thinking like us. The Limbaugh Letter (in their eyes) is propaganda that would pollute the next generation of political leaders. They are in abject fear of that. Let them tremble, help Rush get him the truth....

ANY SOLDIER As the Veterans Day weekend wraps up, a letter-to-the-editor published in today's Nevada Appeal tells about a wonderful program called "Any Soldier" in which all of us across the country can do something a little more substantive than slapping a "I Support Our Troops" bumper sticker on the backs of our cars. http:\\www.anysoldier.com is a Website with a huge database of troop names and units where one may read their messages and choose whomever you would like to adopt," Jessi Winchester notes. "The contact person for each unit has agreed to accept mail and packages for distribution to...

Rush 24/7 Adopt-A-Soldier November 10, 2005 Download Windows Media PlayerListen to Rush Conduct Broadcast Excellence (highly recommended by poster while reading along) BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: It was Monday and Tuesday that they were debating the Harkin Amendment on the floor of the US Senate, and the purpose of the Harkin Amendment was to set up an ombudsman for Armed Forces Radio that would oversee fairness and balance and so forth, and Harkin's concern was that there was way too much of me and not enough liberalism on Armed Forces Radio, discounting that NPR was all liberal, and so in...

Dear "Army Mom," Just wanted to take a second to tell you what happened in Iraq today. It was raining - and I was just coming in to my headquarters when when I passed by one of my newer soldiers - an immigrant from the former Soviet Union - and one of my BEST privates. I was stopped in my tracks, for behold - on such a dreary day he was smiling. I was being funny (at first) and I said "awww you got a package with some goodies? Who sent that to you?" And as I expected to hear...

SIERRA VISTA - Karen and Wally Sumby were facing Thanksgiving Day without family Thursday. So were Pfc. Tony Wilkinson and Pvt. David Cooksey. Thanks to Fort Huachuca's Adopt a Soldier Program, the two 18-year-olds got a home-cooked dinner, and the Sumbys got some company. The Sumbys' two children are grown, and the couple has two grandchildren the age of the soldiers they adopted for a day. All of them live outside Arizona. Having moved to their Winterhaven home just two years ago from the San Francisco Bay area, the Sumbys are relative newcomers. They shared Thanksgiving dinner with neighbors last...

During one visit for a planning conference, Olinger happened to grab a letter out of a stack of “Any Soldier...
