WESLEY CHAPEL — Two armed intruders were shot dead and a third was wounded when a homeowner fired on them early Friday, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office. The homeowner said he was inside his home playing video games when at about 12:43 a.m. he heard the glass of his laundry room door shatter, according to a sheriff’s report. He saw an arm reach inside to unlock the door. Then the homeowner said he saw a masked man walk in and aim a gun at him. The homeowner said he grabbed his Glock 9mm pistol, which was just a...

Kroger on Tuesday followed Walmart in asking shoppers not to openly carry guns in any of its stores, in states where “open carry” is allowed, unless they are authorized law enforcement officers. The announced changes come amid a wave of deadly shootings in the U.S., including two at Walmart stores this summer. Both companies are also calling on the government to strengthen background checks. “Kroger is respectfully asking that customers no longer openly carry firearms into our stores, other than authorized law enforcement officers,” Jessica Adelman, group vice president of corporate affairs, said in an emailed statement. “We are also...

The race for Florida Agricultural Commissioner is currently undergoing a manual recount. Last Tuesday, Republican state Rep. Matt Caldwell was deemed the winner and claimed victory at an election watch party in North Fort Myers. But the vote differential between Caldwell and Democrat Nicole “Nikki” Fried was so small, at just 0.16 percent, that the race went to an automatic recount. The Miami Herald reported that at least 113,600 votes will be counted by hand for the race. Caldwell has filed a lawsuit against the Broward County Supervisor of Elections, Brenda Snipes. He joined Sundial to talk about the lawsuit...

HILLIARD, Ohio – An Ohio high school student says he tried to remain nonpolitical during school walkouts over gun violence and was suspended for a day because he stayed in a classroom instead of joining protests or the alternative, a study hall. Hilliard senior Jacob Shoemaker says school isn't the place for politics, and he wasn't taking sides Wednesday. The district says it's responsible for students' safety and they can't be unsupervised. Jacob's citation for not following instructions was shared online by a friend, prompting a flood of messages to his father. Scott Shoemaker says some people thought his son...

Help Senator Marchione Repeal and Replace Restrictive New Gun Control that Weakens the Second Amendment Constitutional Rights of Law-Abiding New Yorkers! In a vote held in the state Legislature last night – Monday, January 14, 2013 – the Second Amendment Constitutional freedoms of New Yorkers were weakened with passage of restrictive new gun control. I strongly opposed this legislation that was rushed through both houses of our state Legislature without a single public hearing or the proper time to carefully review the bill.

"The citizens of this state, they just want to feel secure in their homes," said the bill's sponsor Rep. Dean Kaufert, R-Neenah. "They just want the ability to protect themselves without the fear of...

ST. PAUL, Minn. - A proposal expanding the right to use deadly force in self-defense continues its advance through the Republican-controlled Legislature. The gun bill from GOP Rep. Tony Cornish goes before a House judiciary panel Wednesday after passing a public safety committee last week. The legislation would grant the right to defend oneself using deadly force in an expanded definition of home, including a garage, car, deck, tent, boat, overnight accommodation or other dwelling. The person wouldn't have to retreat from a threatening situation first.

Children and guns can mean trouble. New York Senator Eric Adams has made a step by step video showing parents how to search their children's rooms for guns and other contraband. He shows parents how to find a gun in a pillow and promptly points it at his head. He shows how something such as a child's doll can be sinister. Senator Adams boldly says that the The "First Amendment" does not apply to searching a child's room. Does he really mean the "Fourth Amendment?" Or, what exactly does he mean? See the video
