California liberals move to red Texas, keep voting Democrat, and longtime residents sound alarm In McKinney, Texas, California transplants explain why they're voting Democrat despite leaving a blue state, as Republicans fear a political shift. McKinney, Texas, is ground zero for the migration of voters from California to Texas over the past several years. On Election Day, it is these newcomers who may well tip the balance not just in the Senate and governor's races. They may also decide whether the once ruby red Lone Star State will continue to grow bluer. I met Oren at The Celt on the...

The European Union has over four-hundred-fifty million people. The non-E.U. nations of Europe — including the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Moldova, and Albania but excluding Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and Turkey — have another hundred million people. Combined, Europe has over two hundred million more people than the United States and over four hundred million more people than the Russian Federation. As an “associate member” of the E.U., Canada would give Europe another forty million bodies. There is no reason why Europe should struggle to defend itself with this kind of population advantage. In fact, it is downright embarrassing...

We conclude our study of the character and benefits of God's Word by focusing on the benefit that ties all the others together: training in righteousness. Everything the Word accomplishes in you through teaching, reproof, and correction is aimed at increasing your righteousness so you'll "be thoroughly equipped for every good work" (2 Tim. 3:17, NIV). "Training" refers to training or educating a child. The New Testament also uses the term to speak of chastening, which is...

Harry Houdini died 100 years ago on Halloween, and depending on who you ask he either died whilst performing a stunt inside a water torture cell, as the result of being punched in the abdomen, at the hands of spiritualists he had annoyed, or, according to one book, "by a crew of malevolent circus midgets who surreptitiously entered his hotel room to add arsenic to his morning tea". Not to complicate things further, but a recent book has suggested that none of these are correct, and that he didn't even die on Halloween. Harry Houdini used his time here on...

She was quite serious about it.In the 1970s, I personally...

We are told that “the people there were observing him carefully.” On one hand, such attentiveness might...
