DICK CHENEY’S COMPLICATED LEGACY. When George W. Bush ran for president in 2000, he faced a widespread public perception that he was callow and inexperienced, even though he was 54 years old and the governor of Texas. That’s not an unheard-of situation in presidential politics; the solution is for the less-experienced candidate to pick an older and more experienced running mate to give the ticket some gravitas. That is what Bush did. It’s fair to say that Bush’s choice, Dick Cheney, fit the bill, and more. Cheney, who died Monday at age 84, probably knew more about the workings of...

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Immigration rights groups are calling on the Los Angeles Dodgers to decline a visit to the White House over the Trump administration's immigration enforcement operations in the city. Typically, professional sports teams who win championships visit the nation's capital and president. But the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) is urging the Dodgers to break from that tradition following ongoing immigration raids across Southern California. "Los Angeles is a city built by immigrants, working families, and dreamers. We celebrate our champions, but we also stand for justice, dignity, and love for our community," the non-profit organization...

Even as New York City mayoral-race polls started to point to a victory for Zohran Mamdani last night, Andrew Cuomo’s biggest fans refused to give up the fight. One of the most recognizable faces advocating for Cuomo in his final push was Debra Messing, who has spent the past 48 hours posting Islamophobic content and misinformation about Mamdani on her Instagram Story. Messing participated in early voting last week, writing in a post that she opted for Cuomo because “we need someone with experience.” “Our city is too massive, complex, and consequential to have someone 33 years old who has...

NEW YORK, NY — In the wake of his overwhelming election win that signalled a dramatic political shift in the United States, New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani was reportedly horrified to wake up this morning and discover that he now had a job. The Ugandan-born socialist won a landslide victory on Tuesday over former Governor Andrew Cuomo, Republican Curtis Sliwa, and common sense, only to come to the stunning realization that he would now have to work. "I didn't think this through," Mamdani reportedly told one of his aides. "I was all excited about the campaign and wanted to...

VIDEOA lot of people are depressed in the wake of Zohran Mamdani's victory in the New York City mayor's race. Perhaps they are thinking short term. In the long term, his victory will just speed up the Democrat party collapse as, in the French Revolution, they eat their own. It's bound to happen and sooner rather than later. However, the biggest upside to Mamdani's victory is that his win inspired an HILARIOUS meme in the form of some very angry New York person screaming and cursing about Curtis Sliwa splitting the vote leading to the defeat of Andrew Cuomo. Check...

A 39-year-old woman is being held in Switzerland after a body was found "severed in two" in France, Swiss authorities said Wednesday. The French woman, who lives in the Swiss village of Sainte-Croix, was "placed in pre-trial detention following her arrest on November 2 by a border guard patrol," police in the Vaud canton of western Switzerland said in a statement. "She is suspected of having set fire to her home and of being involved in the disappearance of her landlord," police said. Multiple sources told the AFP news agency Tuesday that a French woman residing in Vaud had been...

The King is reportedly “furious and deeply rattled” by this, per Rub Shuter on the Substack page #ShuterScoop. A protestor reportedly recently asked the King if he’d asked police to cover up for Andrew.

…Gotham’s mayoral contest, which the Democrat secured shortly after the polls closed Tuesday night, has reverberated throughout the country as liberal Democrats scored the first major win of the Trump II era. And, needless to say, reverberated throughout Hollywood too. The entertainment industry’s liberal core has been divided over the candidacy of the Democratic Socialist and how much he should be the face of the anti-Trump resistance. Mamdani’s win should settle some of those divisions — maybe. The 34-year-old Queens assemblyman (also of course the son of Monsoon Wedding and The Namesake director Mira Nair), put together a coalition of...

Alex Soros, the son of leftist billionaire megadonor George Soros, on Tuesday hailed socialist Zohran Mamdani’s election to become the next mayor of New York City. “So proud to be a New Yorker! The American dream continues! Congrats, Mayor Zohran Mamdani,” Soros wrote, sharing a picture of him and Mamdani. George Soros in 2023 handed control over the family’s $25 billion-plus philanthropic enterprise that bankrolls leftist causes, otherwise known as the Open Society Foundations.

CNN anchor Van Jones called out New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani for his "character switch" during an intense victory speech on Tuesday, arguing that he missed an opportunity to bring more New Yorkers into his camp after a contentious election. "I think he missed a chance tonight to open up and bring more people into the tent," Jones told the election night panel. "I think his tone was sharp. I think he was using the microphone in a way that he was almost yelling. And that's not the Mamdani that we've seen on TikTok and the great interviews and...

Voters in the Golden State passed Proposition 50, a ballot measure that will allow lawmakers to redraw congressional lines ahead of the midterm elections. The state’s congressional Democrats — including Reps. Jim Costa, Adam Gray, Josh Harder, Doug LaMalfa, Dave Min, Derek Tran and George Whitesides — saw their ratings shift toward more favorable reelection bids following the passage of the redistricting plan, according to the nonpartisan election analyst at the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics. California Republican Reps. Darrell Issa and David Valadao are now rated as being in toss-up races after previously residing in GOP-leaning districts. Their...

Five people have been injured, two of them seriously, after a driver rammed into pedestrians and cyclists on Île d’Oléron, a popular tourist destination off France’s Atlantic coast, authorities have said. “This morning, starting at 8.40am, an individual driving his vehicle went on a journey during which he deliberately hit several people who were in his path, either on bicycle or on foot,” the French interior minister, Laurent Nuñez, said on Wednesday. “Five people were hit during his journey, which lasted about 35 minutes,” he told reporters on the island. He confirmed media reports that the man had shouted “Allahu...

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey was elected to a third term on Wednesday, according to unofficial results, fending off challengers who criticized his response to homeless encampments, the pace of police reform and what they described as a lack of collaboration with other elected officials like City Council members. Frey’s main opponents were state Sen. Omar Fateh, minister DeWayne Davis and attorney Jazz Hampton. In ranked-choice voting, candidates with fewer votes are eliminated and their supporters’ votes are reallocated to their next choice. In the end, the race came down to Frey and Fateh in a second round of tabulation in...

A woman who previously declared she was living in the U.S. illegally won the election to become the next mayor of St. Paul, Minnesota. Democratic State Rep. Kaohly Vang Her emerged victorious late Tuesday night in the St. Paul mayoral election, defeating incumbent Democratic Mayor Melvin Carter after a tabulation of second-choice votes, according to election results. Her, who was born in Laos and entered the U.S. as a refugee, once claimed during a public debate that she and her family were illegal migrants, but later walked those claims back. “I am illegal in this country. My parents are illegal...

Tuesday night’s elections might have liberals popping the champagne, but the whole “Trump repudiation” narrative is way off the mark. Sure, Democrats swept big races in heavily blue states and cities — Virginia, New Jersey, New York City — and grabbed wins that the media is hyping as a Republican bloodbath. Abigail Spanberger snagged Virginia’s governorship, Mikie Sherrill took New Jersey’s, Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic socialist, won the New York City mayor’s office, and Jay Jones, who’s been openly wishing death on political foes, secured Virginia’s attorney general spot. The headlines scream doom for the GOP heading into the 2026...

Here’s a serious question: Who on God’s green earth made CNN believe it has the credibility to finger-wag at President Donald Trump over inflation after salivating over Bidenomics for four years? CNN Executive Editor David Goldman and Senior Reporter Matt Egan positioned themselves to lecture Trump over his recent 60 Minutes appearance on CBS where he said “We have no inflation” and “Our groceries are down,” which the network castigated as false. Of course, any journalist who’s been following Trump around for any length of time knows he almost always speaks in hyperbole like a second language. But even so,...

As Oklahoma braces for a temporary suspension of SNAP benefits due to the government shutdown, Governor Kevin Stitt is urging nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and everyday Oklahomans to step up and support families in need. In Tulsa and across the state, churches are answering the call. Sheridan Church, for example, is expanding its existing programs, planning food drives and community meals to help families struggling to put groceries on the table. Faith leaders say the demand is already high. Rev. W.R. Casey Jr., President and CEO of the Christian Ministers Alliance, shared that while local farms have donated some supplies, the...

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez insisted Zohran Mamdani's victory in New York City was an omen to the 'Old Guard' of the Democratic Party, as former President Barack Obama gave a subdued response to the socialist swing. Mamdani, 34, will become the Big Apple's first Muslim mayor after defeating former Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa in a race that became a massive flashpoint in national politics. The democratic socialist earned more than 50 percent of the vote with 97 percent of ballots counted.
