Johnson's House Republicans passed the current "Clean" Continuing Resolution "on or about" Sept 19. It extends last year's 2024 Budget until 21 Nov. After that extension - which should not be needed anyway, but that is an editorial remark - the next budget was to be "discussed and voted upon" by both House and Senate, and life would continue under Trump's Big Beautiful Bill and its guidelines through the 2026 fiscal years. But. Johnson's House Committees have not been in Washington in regular session since that CR was passed. What is the status of their "continuing budget proposals and discussions?...

[Catholic Caucus] Pius XI’s Encyclical on Education Schools Leo XIV’s Letter on EducationThe entire Vatican II revolution has been evil, but God has permitted it for some good. We are tracking who is casting ballots ahead of Election Day for the mayor’s race in New York City and governors’ races in New Jersey and Virginia. Here, we are comparing voters who have cast ballots so far with the makeup of the early and overall electorate in the 2024 presidential election. One of the most closely watched metrics in New York this year is age. Since the city’s mayoral elections are held in off years (without a presidential election on the ballot), the electorate tends to be much smaller. And it skews older than in presidential elections, since older...

A total of 46 workers at a warehouse in Avenel were arrested by the Department of Homeland Security. The arrests were part of an immigration raid conducted on Wednesday. Those taken into custody were working inside of a warehouse belonging to Savino Del Bene, an Italian-based shipping company. Despite the loss in workforce, trucks were moving in and out of the bays at the warehouse on Wednesday. The Department of Homeland Security sent out a statement about the raid saying it’s part of “…ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with customs and immigration regulations, safeguard the integrity of the supply chain,...

U.S. Sen. John Fetterman noted Saturday night on Fox News Channel’s “My View with Lara Trump,” hosted by the president’s daughter-in-law, that he’ll “get grief” for sitting down with her. Still, he said, having conversations is “really important.” “We can’t ever collectively turn our back to others and people are increasingly forgetting to remember that we really need each other,” Fetterman said. Both Democrats and Republicans are feeling the effects of a federal government shutdown. Fetterman was one of three Democrats to side with a Republican bill that would’ve paid certain federal workers during the shutdown. “I’ve been really consistent...

A group of strip club executives allegedly bribed a New York state tax auditor with cash, luxury Florida trips and lap dances worth thousands of dollars a day to slash millions from their tax bills, according to a sweeping indictment by Attorney General Letitia James. The 79-count indictment accuses top leaders of RCI Hospitality Holdings Inc., the Texas-based parent company behind strip clubs Rick’s Cabaret, Vivid Cabaret and Hoops Cabaret, of using their venues to disguise bribes as "promotional" expenses and avoid more than $8 million in sales taxes between 2010 and 2024. Prosecutors say the auditor received at least...

Explanation: Often imaged but rarely mentioned, Messier 43 is a large star forming region in its own right. It's just part of the star forming complex of gas and dust that includes the larger, more famous neighboring Messier 42, the Great Orion Nebula. In fact, the Great Orion Nebula itself lies off the lower edge of this scene. The close-up of Messier 43 was made while testing the capabilities of a near-infrared instrument with one of the twin 6.5 meter Magellan telescopes at Las Campanas Observatory in the Chilean Andes. The composite image shifts the otherwise invisible infrared wavelengths to...

Democrats are flummoxed that President Donald Trump can keep winning when they find his views so despicable. Recent elections from around the world, though, provide the answer: People want conservative populism. Argentine President Javier Milei’s recent unexpected win in his country’s congressional midterms is just one example. His Liberty Advances alliance swept to victory in most of Argentina’s 26 states, crushing the Peronist opposition by 9 percentage points. Milei’s allies did this the Trumpian way, by winning the blue-collar former Peronist strongholds around Buenos Aires and in rural “flyover country”. And they did it despite relatively poor economic news: While...

When Chen Chung-ho strolled up to two African lions at Taipei Zoo, nearly 21 years ago, visitors were left confused and stunned. Some are said to have believed it was all part of a show, while others thought he was a trained worker who had access to the beasts' enclosure. But soon after Chen stood in front of the lions, his bizarre behaviour made it increasingly clear that an impending danger loomed. Armed with a Bible, he had one motive - to preach the gospel and 'convert' the lions on November 3, 2004. Witnesses said he shouted 'Jesus will save...

Whenever you delve into the modern history of internal national conflict you’re bound to come across post-crisis accounts from people who said “We never saw it coming…” or “The violence hit us from nowhere…” Generally speaking, these were the people who weren’t paying attention and they just happened to survive by sheer luck. I think of this dynamic a lot these days. I see a large contingent of American society (perhaps 25% of the population) which has been radicalized or brainwashed beyond all reason or repair. These people (leftists) operate deep within a protective bubble of propaganda and zealotry; they...

The senseless murder in Uxbridge demands a reckoning on illegal migration.A man is dead, and a nation is seething. The blood-curdling murder on Monday night of Wayne Broadhurst, who stepped out at 5pm to walk his dog and never returned home, has left his neighbours along with millions of his countrymen wondering ‘what if?’. What if they had turned a corner as Broadhurst did, only to have a knifeman rain blow after blow down upon them. The killing in Uxbridge, a suburban town in the western reaches of Greater London, speaks to fears that run wide and deep.Broadhurst was 49....

I heard this morning from Chris Robinson that his dad had passed away on October 27, 2025. They live in Fresno, California. His beloved wife, Sheila, passed away on 11-18-2020. He is survived by his loving sons, Chris and John. He was the founder of this important internet platform for Conservatives, and was a true patriot. As with many things Trump, the administration’s “Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education” provoked accusations of authoritarian takeover of vital American institutions. And, as with many things Trump, the administration’s compact overreached in pursuit of a worthy goal, giving critics ammunition to oppose urgently needed reform. On Oct. 1, the Trump administration sent the compact to nine universities – the University of Arizona, Brown University, Dartmouth College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Southern California, the University of Texas Austin, Vanderbilt University, and the University of Virginia. (Subsequently the administration opened the deal to...

Finances are becoming dire for the more than 750,000 government workers who have been going without pay for a full month. The government has been closed for a full month — and federal workers who have missed two paychecks are now using credit cards to pay their bills, visiting food pantries to stock their kitchens and reviewing their bank accounts, plotting exactly how long they can manage without a salary. The answer is not much longer for Cynthia Brown, a Government Publishing Office staffer who has been working without pay. The 53-year-old said she is barely eating, subsisting on coffee and...

After an antisemitism watchdog posted a new video warning about socialist efforts to take over the Democratic Party from within, socialist leaders from across the country embraced the video and its message, appearing unafraid of such accusations. The Canary Mission's advertisement included recorded remarks from various leaders of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) describing their opposition to, and in some cases "hatred" of the Democratic Party, which one speaker says must be torn down. The video also shared remarks from DSA leaders describing how the Democratic Party, which one of the socialist speakers in the video referred to as...

It seems like every time I look at the news these last couple of weeks, there is another piece predicting doom and gloom for the Democratic Party. The latest came from Harry Enten at CNN, who said the data shows the shutdown standoff in Washington is backfiring for the left.“You might think,” he said, “given that the Republicans are in charge of both the House and the Senate, that a government shutdown might actually hurt the Republican brand. But in fact, it hasn’t. If anything, it’s been helped a little bit.”Enten went on to evaluate the Democrats’ chances in the...
