France 24 reports that archaeologists from the Moesgaard Museum in Aarhus uncovered a tenth-century Viking cemetery at a construction site in Lisbjerg. The site contained as many as 30 graves, likely belonging to a noble family who lived on a nearby farm that was first discovered in the 1980s. Many of the burials still held objects such as coins, ceramics, and beads that attest to the family's high status. However, the most unusual find came from the grave of an elite woman who was buried with a rare wooden box. The exquisitely crafted, 12.5-inch square object contained a fine locking...

Results from a new clinical trial suggest that a high-fiber plant-based diet could benefit patients at risk of developing multiple myeloma, the second most common type of blood cancer. Multiple myeloma is often preceded by early, non-cancerous conditions involving abnormal plasma cells. Having a high body weight, a poor-quality diet and an unhealthy balance of gut bacteria have been shown to increase the risk of developing these conditions and progressing to multiple myeloma. The pilot study, which is part of the NUTRIVENTION Trials, included 20 patients at risk of developing multiple myeloma due to precursor conditions and an elevated body...

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he kept his promise from the beginning of Israel’s conflict against Iran that Iran’s nuclear facilities would be destroyed. In a Hebrew video statement to the Israeli public following the US strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Netanyahu says the American operation was conducted in “full coordination” with the IDF. Netanyahu says the US finished the job against Iran’s nuclear sites that was started by the IDF on June 13. “At the beginning of the operation, I promised you that Iran’s nuclear facilities would be destroyed, one way or another. This promise was kept,” Netanyahu says....

@RealCandaceO “A full payload of bombs was dropped” followed by “now is the time for peace”. Utterly deranged. If we had raised the 100 million Adelson gave him on Go Fund Me, maybe he would have kept his promises. Guess we’ll never know.

Patients with colon cancer who consumed an anti-inflammatory diet during a Phase III clinical trial showed longer overall survival post-treatment compared to those on a proinflammatory diet, according to analysis. Engaging in higher levels of physical activity may amplify the positive influence on survival. The median 5-year survival for patients with stage III colon cancer is around 80%. The CALGB/SWOG 80702 (Alliance) trial was initiated in 2010 to reduce the risk of cancer recurrence. Patients in the trial were treated with surgery followed by either three or six months of chemotherapy, with or without celecoxib, an anti-inflammatory drug. Of 2,526...

The first word anyone heard of American B-2 bomber strikes on Iranian nuclear sites was by President Donald Trump himself on TruthSocial right after 8 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday night. image: https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/114724035571020048 There was nary a leak. There was no chest beating from Congress. No reports of "we hear that..." The Operational Security leading to this strike on a Saturday appears to have been flawless. While all the pieces on the chess board were being moved—doomsday planes, B-2, carrier strike groups, there were multiple feints used by the Trump Administration to lull the mullahs into thinking they had a...

A newly discovered mechanism that leads to liver dysfunction may be a key factor in type 2 diabetes and other metabolic disorders in individuals with obesity, according to a new study. The dysfunction identified—dysregulated hepatic coenzyme Q metabolism—leads to excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced by mitochondria at a single specific site in an enzyme called complex I. Mitochondria metabolize nutrients and generate the building blocks needed to maintain metabolic homeostasis. During this process, mitochondria also generate ROS—molecules that, in small, controlled amounts, are essential to support normal body functions, but that can be harmful when produced in large quantities....

First-line treatment with the triplet combination of encorafenib, cetuximab and mFOLFOX6 significantly improved survival compared to the standard of care in patients with BRAF V600E-mutated metastatic colorectal cancer, according to data from the Phase III BREAKWATER trial. The findings demonstrated significantly longer progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) compared to standard chemotherapy-based regimens. The median PFS was 12.8 months with the triplet combination compared to 7.1 months in the standard-of-care group, and the median OS was 30.3 months compared with 15.1 months, respectively. "The latest data from the BREAKWATER trial further confirms that targeting the BRAF V600E mutation up...

I know this has been a very busy night with the events in Iran, but this is something I've that's been on my mind for quite some time and I didn't know who else to ask. Basically, does anyone know of any good Christian chat sites? I know of the one at Rapture Forums, but I'd like to find others if possible. I know there are many Christians here on FR, and your fellowship and prayers have been a great comfort. But with me being home bound due to the hits my health has taken due to Covid/Long Covid, I'm...

House Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) on Saturday night said that President Donald Trump has “failed” to bring peace to the Middle East after Trump ordered the bombing of Iranian nuclear sites. Jeffries, the leader of House Democrats, said in a written statement: Donald Trump promised to bring peace to the Middle East. He has failed to deliver on that promise. The risk of war has now dramatically increased, and I pray for the safety of our troops in the region who have been put in harm’s way. President Trump misled the country about his intentions, failed to seek congressional...

Jim Himes, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, was not briefed before the US strikes on Iran — even though his GOP counterpart on the panel, Chairman Rick Crawford, was in contact with the White House, per a person familiar. Sen. Mark Warner, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, also was not briefed before the attack, per a source familiar, but the GOP chairman, Tom Cotton, was briefed. Both Democrats are in the “Gang of Eight,” which typically would be briefed before a significant US military engagement. The Gang of Eight includes the House and Senate...

Seeing that Democrats are out-of-sync with what most voters want for the country, some of them are turning toward a strategy aimed at maximizing the number of sympathy votes they can get by instigating confrontations that result in them clashing with law-enforcement. Sen. Alex Padilla (Calif) made his pitch for "most oppressed" by describing how he was treated at the press conference of Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem in Los Angeles. "I had serious questions that I wanted answered," Padilla said. "Why was Los Angeles singled out for ICE raids? Why did Trump illegally seize control over the California...
