Carney is facing external pressure to drop Chiang after he told a Chinese-language media news conference in January that...

Odai al-Rabei, a 22-year-Gazan who has been involved in anti-Hamas protests, was abducted from Gaza City, tortured, and murdered by terrorists before being returned to his family home, according to his family. Graphic images of al-Rabei’s mutilated body went viral on social media showing the extent of the torture by Hamas’s al-Qassam brigades terrorists. The White House Correspondents’ Association on Monday pushed back against the White House’s plans to exert control over the briefing room seating assignments for journalists. In an email to members, the association — which is made up of an independent group of journalists covering the Trump administration — said it was aware of the reported efforts from the White House to take over the briefing room’s organization chart. The seating has long been set by WHCA. “If the White House pushes forward, it will become even more clear that the administration is seeking to cynically seize control of the system...

Two police officers walked into a doughnut shop. It’s not the opening line of a joke; it’s what I saw as I was working on an early draft of this story in March at the Staunton Dunkin’, about a quarter mile from where my vehicle was captured on a Flock camera in January and February coming back from my trips to Cardinal’s Roanoke office. Their eyes may have strayed to the racks of Boston creme, lemon-filled and coconut-covered doughnuts as they strode to the counter with purpose, but they were here for something else. Surveillance footage. The research for State...

The entrance to the Republican Party of New Mexico’s headquarters was set on fire and defaced with graffiti in an alleged arson attack Sunday morning, authorities and Republican officials said. The Albuquerque Fire Department has opened an arson investigation after flames broke out at the site just before 6 a.m. near where anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement graffiti was discovered. The words ‘ICE = KKK’ were sprayed onto the side of the building in red paint, leading many GOP members to believe the fire was a politically motivated arson attack. “We are deeply relieved that no one was harmed in what...

On the campaign trail, Donald Trump used contentiousness around transgender people’s access to sports and bathrooms to fire up conservative voters and sway undecideds. And in his first months back in office, Trump has pushed the issue further, erasing mention of transgender people on government websites and passports and trying to remove them from the military. It’s a contradiction of numbers that reveals a deep cultural divide: Transgender people make up less than 1% of the U.S. population, but they have become a major piece on the political chess board — particularly Trump’s. For transgender people and their allies —...

An Arizona woman claimed she was boxed in on a busy highway and beaten up by another driver who targeted her for driving a Tesla. The 61-year-old woman, who goes by Susan, told Arizona's Family that she driving was along Route 66 in Flagstaff on March 18 when another vehicle started chasing her. Shocking footage of the attack showed the green car pulling up next to Susan's Tesla, then swerving in front to box her in. The driver of the green car approached Susan while she was still at the wheel, then allegedly started attacking her. 'I started to say,...

I need help in finding a forgotten science fiction book. I can describe the plot, but have forgotten the title and author. The plot is in a future where people in rural areas live in fortified homes and are suspicious of anyone they do not know. There is significant overpopulation. Gas vehicles are frowned upon and/or forbidden in urban areas. Vehicles which exceed the speed limit on the interstate are simply machine-gunned because stopping them has become too dangerous. However, the Supreme Court has ruled there is a privacy right as part of the Second Amendment, and the government has...

Following the devasting Los Angeles wildfires there was a lot of talk about better forest management and better fire mitigation. “I think a lot of these forests have not been touched in so long that they have become an issue and a problem,” said Randy Will a heavy machine operator for Bleck Fire Prevention. Will is part of a three-man crew now clearing large areas of thick and dangerous fire fuels and turning downed trees into piles of mulch at Jack’s Peak Park in Monterey. This is a shaded fuel break and so that if there is a fire up...

Sir Keir Starmer’s attempts to strike a free trade deal with the US are at risk over a free speech row. In a highly unusual step, the US state department on Sunday night issued a statement saying it was “concerned about freedom of expression in the United Kingdom” in relation to the case of an anti-abortion campaigner. It said it was “monitoring” the case of Livia Tossici-Bolt, who was prosecuted for holding a sign near a Bournemouth abortion clinic reading: “Here to talk if you want.” The state department is responsible for America’s foreign policy, and would not usually comment...

MERIDIAN, Idaho — On Saturday at approximately 1 p.m., a protest in front of the Tesla dealership on Franklin Road in Meridian turned violent when one protester struck another counterprotester with their vehicle. PORTLAND, OR — Even people with the most secure jobs in booming industries reported feeling the widespread financial squeeze, with one local Tesla bomber forced to take a second job as a Bernie Sanders rally attendee. Devin Hansbrough, a successful Tesla dealership firebomber, said that while gigs for George Soros and various NGOs have been steady, they aren't enough anymore. He now works a side job being paid to attend Bernie rallies to pull in extra income. "Every little bit of money helps," he said. "I had my biggest month of bombing Teslas ever in March, but with how expensive...

In a mission funded and commanded by cryptocurrency entrepreneur Chun Wang, SpaceX said it plans a launch as early as Monday evening, marking the first crewed mission to polar orbit and the first to cultivate mushrooms as a crop in space. The three-to-five-day flight is to be lofted into space by a Falcon 9 booster. The mission is named after the Fram, a steam-and-sail powered ship used by Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen during his historic 1910-1912 expedition to the South Pole. A four-person international team will crew the Fram2 mission: Wang from Malta; Jannicke Mikkelsen a film director and cinematographer...

White nationalist pundit Stew Peters is no stranger to offensive commentary, but on a recent episode of his eponymous podcast, he openly called for the deportation of all Jews from the United States — even going so far as to echo Nazi rhetoric by calling it a “final solution.” Peters’ notable controversies in recent years include getting kicked off Spotify and Apple Podcasts after he peddled Covid-19 conspiracy theories and participated in a white nationalist conference held by Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes. He’s embraced the “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory, claimed the Titan sub disaster was “actually a ploy” to hide...

Over Thanksgiving last year, I got strep throat. I haven’t had strep since college and it reminded me quickly why I hope to never have it again. It’s awful. But antibiotics are God’s gift to humanity. I only had to endure the effects of strep until the antibiotics kicked in, but every hour the pain lasted, I thanked God I live this side of modern medicine. ...Back during the anthrax scare of the early 2000s, news anchor Tom Brokaw closed his evening broadcast saying “in Cipro we trust.” This drug had saved the life of his co-workers and many others....
