WASHINGTON, D.C. â U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) wrote a letter to Chairman-elect Rand Paul of the Senate Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday. Senator Hawley's letter outlines demands for the Biden Administration to be held accountable following the New Year 2024 terrorist-linked attack on New Orleans' Bourbon Street. "When the 119th Congress convenes next week, and you assume leadership of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, I urge you to immediately call Mayorkas and Wray to publicly testify prior to their departure from office," Senator Hawley wrote. "They must give a full account of this attack and any departmental failures related...

Most weeks, the last thing we think we need is to add another event to the calendar, especially an event that requires a gift and possibly our help supplying the refreshments. Yet when the bulletin announcement appears or the email invitation arrives for a baby shower, immediately adding it to our calendar is the right response. If the shower were for our sister, our niece, or our own daughter, weâd certainly block off the time, no questions asked. But why? Baby showers are a way a culture bestows value and honor to mothers and infants, unborn children, and growing families.Baby...

Blind Items Revealed #12 August 1, 2024 In the past few months, an author managed to track down copies of former leases of an apartment complex in Texas. Why? He had been told that in the 100+ unit complex, the manager had allowed three or four off them to be used by people he had come into contact with in the federal government thirty years previously. The people sometimes needed a quiet place to stay that would keep them off the grid. No hotel rooms. The location was extremely convenient to one of the world's busiest airports. The people would...

Barely a day passes without colleges scolded in the headlines over admissions or athletics and endowments or education and expression. Schools have become scapegoats for both good and bad reasons. Prominent commentators and populist political leaders from both the far left and far right now target higher education as a common enemy. In fact the current fight over the meritocracy vs charges of elitism which would not characterize other fields such as sports or entertainment have torn open a seam on the right between Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk in favor of selectivity and merit on one side and Laura...

A commander in Hamasâs elite Nukhba force, who led the attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz during the October 7, 2023 terror onslaught, was killed in a recent drone strike, the military and Shin Bet say. According to the IDF, the terrorist Abd al-Hadi Sabah, commander of the Nukhba platoon in Hamasâs West Khan Younis Battalion, was killed in a strike in the Israeli-designated humanitarian zone in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza. The IDF says Sabah was among those who led the invasion into Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, 2023, during which terrorists kidnapped and murdered dozens. During...

Over the last year, the future strength of the global economy has been a mixed picture amid rising protectionism and geopolitical conflict. In the U.S., growth was resilient - but higher prices, despite cooling inflation, continued to squeeze consumer wallets. European economies faced slower growth, with Germany facing a two-year downturn. In China, property market troubles weighed on consumer confidence and economic growth.Given this backdrop, how confident are people around the world in the global economy looking ahead to 2025?This graphic, via Visual Capitalist's Dorothy Neufeld, shows global economic sentiment by country, based on survey data from Ipsos that asked respondents...

In a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy laid out their vision for the new âDepartment of Government Efficiencyâ (DOGE) they will head within the Trump White House. They donât yet have details (part of the plan involves identifying personnel, and then inefficiencies). But the vision has a three-part approach: âregulatory recissions, administrative reductions, and cost savings.âWith politicians itâs often hard to know what is solid conviction and what is bluster for future bargaining. With Donald Trump, itâs always hard to know. He wants to renew the 2017 tax cuts, which lowered income and corporate taxes...

Texas native Shamsud Din-Jabbar, 42, drove his truck into a crowd in New Orleans during the New Yearâs Eve festivities and then began to open fire on innocent bystanders. Fifteen people are dead, with at least another 30 injured. His vehicle had an ISIS flag. The truck was rented by Turo and crossed the border from Mexico on November 16. It had been driven by someone else. The attack occurred at 3:15 AM local time. Explosives were found at the scene, with officials now saying that thereâs evidence Mr. Din-Jabbar did not act alone, pointing to a coordinated terrorist attack....

Joe Biden is known to be resentful and bitter, not just at being forced out of the presidential race only to see his designated successor lose to Donald Trump. He's been resentful for years, at President Obama making him a figure of fun during his administration, at Obama endorsing his rival in 2015, and at Obama famously telling him in 2019 "you don't have to do this, Joe," all the while, watching Obama remain popular with the left. Of course he's bitter. Now he's blowing up things as he prepares to leave office -- selling off border wall materials, launching...

Upon learning that Syriaâs dynastic dictatorship had fallen, Iman Mohammed, a Syrian refugee living in Germany, felt a surge of elation at the idea that she could return to her homeland. But that joy quickly faltered as another thought occurred to her: Going back to Syria could mean giving up everything that she and her family had built in Germany since making the dangerous trek to arrive there nearly a decade ago. âIn the cold light of day, when we really looked at everything that had happened, we realized, not just yet,â Ms. Mohammed, 41, said of the idea that...

A stark difference between the public and private sectors:In March of 2023 Gavin Newsom promised to deliver 1200 tiny homes at a cost of 625,000 taxpayer dollars apiece. To date, not a single tiny home has been delivered. By comparison, the Amish just built 12 tiny homes in less than 48 hours at a cost of $25,000 apiece. pic.twitter.com/KAWvPASbdi â Kevin Dalton (@TheKevinDalton) December 31, 2024As the tweetâs author Kevin Dalton writes, Gavin Newsom announced a âtiny homeâ project in March of 2023, which was to be completed in a matter of âmonthsâ and not âyearsâ â but as you...

America is under Attack. This most important question in the country right now: How many hundreds of FBI counterterrorism agents were reassigned to âhuntâ peaceful January 6th protesters while terrorists poured into our country to organize and kill us. This is the REAL Crime ... Poured in at the invitation of @POTUS and @VP . And at the same time they undercut law enforcement, allowed rampant crime, allowed unprecedented drug deaths, divided America with vitriolic spittle laced insults and accusations, jailed and persecuted political opponents and cheated in elections in an attempt to grab permanent power. Their hands are soaked...

One of the most insidious assertions of the pro-trans left is that those who oppose puberty blockers, wrong-sex hormones, and other pseudo-scientific medical interventions for trans-identifying youth have âblood on their hands.â This is because, such ideologues claim, children deprived of this purported âmedical careâ are more likely to kill themselves. The fallaciousness of such declarations, however, is becoming more evident in light of acknowledgments from some unlikely sources in the media and medical establishment. The Inflammatory Ideological Charge Regarding Trans YouthâŚThe âblood on the handsâ slander of the pro-trans left has become predictably commonplace in recent years. NBC earlier this...

Portlandâs lame-duck Democratic district attorney is angling to reduce the sentences of several violent criminals, including a convicted murderer, days before his tough-on-crime replacement takes office. Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt, who was voted out of office on Election Day, petitioned an Oregon judge on Monday to reconsider the sentences of eight individuals â which could result in reduced charges and see the convicts freed from prison, according to Oregon Live. âThese have all the appearance of a last-minute giveaway,â Multnomah County District Attorney-elect Nathan Vasquez, the Republican-turned-independent who defeated Schmidt, told the outlet. âTheyâre extremely violent individuals who...

Law enforcement has confirmed the cause of the Cybertruck explosion outside Trump International Hotel Las Vegas on New Yearâs Day was caused by a bomb and/or large fireworks in the truck bed. Additionally, the Cybertruck was rented through the app Turo â the same company the terrorist in New Orleans used to rent the truck that he drove through a large crowd on Bourbon Street that had gathered to celebrate the new year.

At least 10 people, including two children, were killed and four others were injured in a shooting on Wednesday that followed a bar brawl in the western Montenegrin city of Cetinje, The Associated Press reported, citing local officials. Speaking at a news conference, Interior Minister Danilo Saranovic said Martinovic fatally shot the bar owner, the ownerâs children, and members of his own family. âAt this moment, we are focused on arresting him,â Saranovic stated, according to AP.
