House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Monday slammed the GOP’s stopgap funding proposal as “unserious and unacceptable,” setting the stage for a close vote in the lower chamber on Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-La.) gambit to avert a government shutdown. Jeffries, in a letter to colleagues, said Johnson’s government funding legislation — which pairs a six-month continuing resolution with a Trump-backed bill to require proof of citizenship to register to vote, titled the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act — is “partisan and extreme.” Jeffries zeroed in on the timing of the continuing resolution, arguing that a shorter stopgap would...

Kamala Harris has faced criticism from both the left and the right for not clearly outlining her policy positions on her campaign website. However, she has finally posted an "Issues" page — no doubt to preempt any criticism during the upcoming debate on Tuesday and likely to give her a place to direct viewers to so she can avoid having to explain her positions during the debate. "Vice President Harris and Governor Walz are fighting for a New Way Forward that protects our fundamental freedoms, strengthens our democracy, and ensures every person has the opportunity to not just get by,...

Vice President Kamala Harris expects former President Donald J. Trump to lie repeatedly during their debate Tuesday, she said in a radio interview that was broadcast on Monday.“We should be prepared for the fact that he is not burdened by telling the truth,” Ms. Harris told Rickey Smiley, a morning radio host whose show is broadcast on 76 stations. “We should be prepared for the fact that he is probably going to speak a lot of untruths.”Ms. Harris’s prediction, which she made in an interview she recorded last Wednesday, serves as a bit of table-setting for a campaign that has...

The European Union needs up to 800 billion euros ($884 billion) in additional investment per year to meet its key competitiveness and climate targets, according to a report from economist and politician Mario Draghi. The bloc’s goals of bolstering its geopolitical relevance, social equality and decarbonization are being threatened by weak economic growth and productivity compared with the U.S. and China, the report states. The wide-ranging study led by Draghi — who previously served as prime minister of Italy and president of the European Central Bank during the euro zone debt crisis — found EU priorities must include reducing energy...

As everyone knows, the Associated Press is 100% trustworthy in every single quote they have ever covered. It truly seems like they are the only ones, apart from us at the Bee, who don't add any bias or spin to their stories. To commemorate the AP's long and distinguished record of quoting people accurately, we at the Babylon Bee have put together 10 famous historical quotes as reported by the Associated Press: "The only thing we have… is fear itself." — Franklin D. Roosevelt: What a downer! "That's one small... man." — Neil Armstrong: Everyone looks small from the...

Pop icon and left-wing activist Barbra Streisand reacted to the Apalachee High School shooting by pushing the very gun control that failed to prevent the infamous Columbine attack. Thirteen people were killed in Columbine High School when two attackers opened fire April 20, 1999, a time at which the federal “assault weapons” ban was in full effect. Despite the “assault weapons” ban’s failure to prevent Columbine, Streisand is pushing a renewal of the ban as a remedy to the attack that occurred September 4, 2024, at Apalachee High School: Streisand not only failed to point out that the federal “assault...

According to a Reuters report, 27 silver Roman coins were discovered in the ancient Greek acropolis on the remote Mediterranean island of Pantelleria by a team of researchers led by archaeologist Thomas Schaefer of the University of Tübingen. He thinks that the coins, which first surfaced in loose soil after heavy rains, may have been hidden during a pirate attack. Additional coins were later found under a nearby rock. Analysis of the coins shows that they were minted in Rome between 94 and 74 B.C. "This discovery... offers valuable information for the reconstruction of the events, trade contacts, and political...

On today's Morning Joe, a furious Mika Brzezinski accused the so-called "mainstream" media of "sanewashing" Trump -- never confronting him with his alleged affronts to democracy as described by Dick Cheney in his statement explaining why he, like his daughter Liz, will be voting for Kamala Harris. [snip] Scarborough wondered whether Trump's lead is due to all the "disinformation" that is leading almost half of Americans to support Trump. That led to this answer from an angry Mika: MIKA: Well, it's a mixture of that and a lot of other things, including, I think, the mainstream media that claims to...

Daily Readings from the USCCBOn a certain sabbath Jesus went into the synagogue and taught, and there was a man there whose right hand was withered. The scribes and the Pharisees watched him closely to see if he would cure on the sabbath so that they might discover a reason to accuse him. But he realized their intentions… Luke 6:6–8Jesus had a gift. Of course, He had every good gift to perfection. But in today’s Gospel, we see one of Jesus’ gifts made manifest. Namely, Jesus was able to realize the intentions of those He daily encountered. Normally, we can...

Vice President Kamala Harris will likely try to cast herself as an agent of change during Tuesday’s debate, even though she has been in power for nearly four years. Under the Biden-Harris administration, costs soared about 20 percent across the board, migrant crime spiked, illegal immigrants invaded the southern border, Russia invaded Ukraine, and 13 U.S. troops died during the Afghan withdrawal. Former President Donald Trump, who is the most experienced debater in the “modern age,” according to CNN, will slam Harris on those issues, holding Harris accountable for the administration’s failed policies.

New York Democratic Rep. Grace Meng has longstanding ties to an organization reportedly linked to a Chinese intelligence agency and alleged Communist Party operatives, the Daily Caller News Foundation found. The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Tuesday indicted Linda Sun, who served in two New York governors’ offices as well as Meng’s chief of staff while she served in the state assembly, for allegedly acting as an unregistered foreign agent of China and money laundering. The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday that Sun met the “heads of key groups identifiable in the indictment as being United Front-linked, including the...

Dana Bash was none too impressed after she interviewed Kamala Harris and her Emotional Support Governor, Tim Walz. We suppose even she couldn't argue with the fact that out of 41 minutes all they could use was a whopping 18 minutes. Hard to claim the interview went well when Americans saw it and could tell differently. But still, this is surprisingly honest from Bash, watch: The post continues: 'Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me' should be the approach of the American people towards the Biden-Harris administration. Wow. Sounds like Dana is more than willing...

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken probably discussed China's involvement in the de-dollarization movement during his recent visit to that country, London metals trader Andrew Maguire tells this week's edition of Kinesis Money's "Live from the Vault" program. China, Maguire says, may have as much as 40,000 tonnes of gold is its "shadow" banking system, ready for use in the gold-linked international trade currency being prepared by the BRICS nations and Russia. Mainstream financial news organizations, Maguire says, still don't understand that the classification of gold as a "Tier 1" asset by the Bank for International Settlements has triggered the...

Ladies and gentlemen, over the weekend, we saw the results of a fascinating social experiment involving 20,000 illegals from Haiti that have swarmed one Ohio town like locusts. (Because Joe Biden and Kamala Harris sent them there.)
