Consumer prices rose 0.2 percent in July following two straight months of flat or declining prices, the Labor Department reported Wednesday. The consumer price index (CPI) also slowed to a 2.9 percent annual increase in July, down from 3 percent in June, falling below 3 percent for the first time since March 2021. The latest inflation reading comes as the Federal Reserve gears up for long awaited interest rate cuts ahead of the upcoming election, and at a moment of economic anxiety as the unemployment rate has started to tick up. Borrowing costs have remained at a 23-year high since...

On Tuesday’s broadcast of CNBC’s “Power Lunch,” New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) said that in the next weeks, the Harris-Walz campaign should do “more of the same” even as the campaign gets more policy-focused. Co-host Kelly Evans asked, “What do they need to do right in order to solidify the gains that they’ve made in the weeks that are to come, where we have the debate, it will get more policy-driven, I imagine. Everyone will be pressing for more details on what exactly they would do in office. What do you think?”

Harris, the Democratic 2024 nominee, appeared in Texas three times in July, in both an administrative role and as part of campaign events for her White House bid which has seen her overtake Donald Trump as the current overall front-runner. The Lone Star State is certainly not considered a swing state, having voted for a Republican candidate in the previous 11 elections, including for Trump in 2016 and 2020. Despite this, there have been continuing suggestions that Texas could be on the verge of an unprecedented switch in voter dynamic, such as when former Texas congressman Beto O'Rourke was only...

With headlines like “Harris Surges Ahead: A New Era of Democratic Enthusiasm and Opportunity” and “Former Friend Exposes JD Vance’s Radical Transformation: A Study in Political Opportunism”, you might mistake NioThinker for another mainstream media outlet. Only the occasional odd word choice and convoluted bit of grammar hints that the digital media site flowing with enthusiasm for Kamala and contempt for Trump isn’t really American. Classified as part of Iran’s ‘Storm-2035’ network: NioThinker is an enemy operation. Why is an Islamic terrorist state spending its time putting up articles like “Trump Silent After Fox News Poll Favors Harris in Swing...

German prosecutors have issued a first arrest warrant in their investigation into the undersea explosions in 2022 that damaged the Nord Stream gas pipelines between Russia and Germany, according to a media report Wednesday. German authorities refused to comment. German public broadcaster ARD, the daily Sueddeutsche Zeitung and the weekly Die Zeit said in a joint report that federal prosecutors obtained an arrest warrant in June against a Ukrainian man believed to have resided until recently in Poland. The reports, which did not cite sources, identified the man as Wolodymyr

In his 17-month stint as UF president, Ben Sasse more than tripled his office’s spending, directing millions in university funds into secretive consulting contracts and high-paying positions for his GOP allies. Sasse ballooned spending under the president’s office to $17.3 million in his first year in office — up from $5.6 million in former UF President Kent Fuchs’ last year, according to publicly available. Citing his wife’s recent epilepsy diagnosis, Sasse abruptly resigned from his post in July — leaving the future of his UF inner circle unclear. The university did not respond to questions about whether his political appointees...

Former GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley weighed in on the state of the 2024 race Tuesday as Vice President Kamala Harris gains momentum in key battleground states ahead of the November election. Haley told Fox News chief political anchor Bret Baier on "Special Report" Republicans and former President Trump should focus on policy and messaging instead of crowd sizes at rallies, Harris' race, or attacks on her intellect. "You can't win on those things. The American people are smart. Treat them like they're smart," she said. "It's not about her. It's about the American people. Talk to them and let...

Following a tumultuous year of layoffs and an ongoing merger, Paramount Television Studios is now shutting down. Today, Paramount Television Studios President Nicole Clemens announced that the division will shut down by the end of the week via a memo sent to employees, according to Deadline. The decision comes just days after Paramount announced that it would lay off 15 percent of its employees in the U.S. "This has been a challenging and transformative time for the entire industry, and sadly, our studio is not immune," she wrote. "Over the past 11 years, PTVS has weathered seemingly insurmountable obstacles through...

It seems that every day we’re force-fed nightmarish stories about how the earth is constantly warming because there are too many humans and we consume too much oil, coal, natural gas, and even meat. The solution is always more government control, regulation, and higher taxes. The powers that be seek to destroy companies that produce reasonably priced energy, and use the weight of government to force us to buy electric vehicles powered by the highly flammable pollutant lithium, and inefficient appliances. SNIP If journalists were curious, instead of talking puppets pushing the Democrat agenda, they could ask a simple question...

A quote from Wyoming's governor and a local prosecutor were the first things that seemed slightly off to Powell Tribune reporter CJ Baker. Then, it was some of the phrases in the stories that struck him as nearly robotic. The dead giveaway, though, that a reporter from a competing news outlet was using generative artificial intelligence to help write his stories came in a June 26 article about the comedian Larry the Cable Guy being chosen as the grand marshal of the Cody Stampede Parade. "The 2024 Cody Stampede Parade promises to be an unforgettable celebration of American independence, led...

In an article published by Newsweek on August 7, 2024, Dan Gooding AND Billal Rahman make some incendiary claims. From the article: Immigration into the United States is being partly driven by gun violence — which itself is fueled by firearms bought in the U.S. and illegally transported back to Mexico by organized crime networks. Over 200,000 firearms found in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico between 2015 and 2022 were linked back to the U.S., recent data from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) shows. The 200,000 number seemed interesting. This correspondent went to the ATF website...

The Musk-Trump interview was a conversation between two businessmen who understand government regulations better than most politicians or media lapdogs do. It was huge, or whatever other adjective explains a two-hour conversation over the internet. The Harris-Walz team, or the ones who have not sat down with anyone, are furious that Donald Trump had a conversation with Elon Musk. It came about 24 hours after Mr. Vance made the Sunday show rounds. One team is talking and the other isn’t. Hello media! Let’s check out one reaction in particular: Axios’ @sarafischer: ‘@elonmusk will let Donald Trump speak all of the...

Many of us start thinking about what we’ll name our future children when we’re basically still children ourselves. With youthful-yet-earnest contemplation, many young people choose the names of their future sons and daughters based on such things as an inspiring book character, a beloved geographical location, or (cringe) the pop culture craze of their era. Some people go on to give their children the names they’ve held dear over the years. Others lament when their spouses put the kibosh on a favorite moniker. Yet others discover that life’s unexpected circumstances steer them toward names they hadn’t considered for their child...
