Yes, I know; I went there. I said the "L" word and possibly invoked a curse on us all. The Democrats seem to be in a tailspin of disarray and despair, and I am reading about how they have given up and are now merely hoping to save the Senate and win back the House. Biden seems to be sending signals that he might be willing to step down under the right conditions. I don't buy it. The rank and file may be down in the mouth, but someone, somewhere, is working on a plan to salvage the election. It...

The man who tried to assassinate Ronald Reagan has disavowed violence in the wake of the attempt on Donald Trump's life. John Hinckley Jr, who wounded the former US president during an attack in 1981, wrote on X: "Violence is not the way to go. Give peace a chance." Although Hinckley did not directly mention the Republican presidential nominee, people were quick to draw the connection, responding with bemusement at his statement. One X user summed up the sentiment of many commenters, writing: "Dude you literally shot the 40th president of the United States." A spectator was killed and two...

Various problems were encountered by the protective detail ladies at Trump’s Butler rally. One of the glaring issues was the disparity of size and physical capabilities between the protective detail members. Given that the Secret Service is committed to DEI, a solution is to staff the women’s positions with trans females. With trans individuals you can meet the one third women DEI goal and simultaneously have the benefit of the physicality and size required for the job.

Former Barack Obama adviser Van Jones argued Thursday that the energy at this week’s Republican National Convention was comparable to what he saw when the nation’s first black president was first nominated in 2008. Jones, now a CNN senior political commentator, talked about the palpable “spirit” and enthusiasm he could feel among the people at the RNC. After CNN contributor Scott Jennings spoke with excitement about wrestler Hulk Hogan, UFC head Dana White and former President Donald Trump’s upcoming speeches at the RNC, Jones said, “This spirit that this guy [Jennings] has, you guys think it’s because he’s drunk, he’s...

It’s heading into a critical weekend for the party as Republican Donald Trump wraps up a heady Republican National Convention in Milwaukee and Democrats, racing time, consider the extraordinary possibility of Biden stepping aside for a new presidential nominee before their own convention next month in Chicago.” – the AP reported. Biden’s surrogates are desperate to take control of the narrative as Joe Biden convalesces at his Rehoboth Beach house. Damaging leaks to...

Which of the Republican controlled states will remove Biden from the ballot? Does Biden stepping down matter at all? Of what relevance is a current VP assuming the duties of President? Is the DEATH of the NOMINEE (not the current President per se) the only possible way to get some new NOMINEE on the ballot of all 50 states?

A new city ordinance in Berkeley, Calif., that officially changes the name from ‘manhole cover’ to ‘maintenance cover’ has stirred up a media commotion. (AP Photo/Jeff Chiu). It is not every day that a change to a municipal code for a medium-sized city makes international news. But when city council in Berkeley, Calif., had its first reading of a proposal to remove gendered language from its municipal code, the media went to town. The 14-page proposal provides a rationale for the changes, cites legal and grammatical support, specifies the wording that will change and estimates the cost of the initiative...

President Biden said Friday that former President Trump offered a “dark vision for the future” during his speech at the Republican National Convention the prior night, standing firm that he is not dropping out of the 2024 race. “Last night the American people saw the same Donald Trump they rejected four years ago. For over 90 minutes, he focused on his own grievances, with no plan to unite us and no plan to make life better for working people,” Biden said in a statement. Biden insisted he will again beat Trump in November, amid growing calls for the president to...

Biden said in a statement reacting to Trump’s speech last night that he will be back on the campaign trail next week. “I look forward to getting back on the campaign trail next week to continue exposing the threat of Donald Trump’s Project 2025 agenda while making the case for my own record and the vision that I have for America: one where we save our democracy, protect our rights and freedoms, and create opportunity for everyone,” Biden said. It’s a notable line given reporting that the Biden family has begun discussing a possible exit plan should the president need...

Republicans are hesitantly optimistic about election reform in Arizona following a decision by the 9th Circuit Court that requires officials to verify voters’ proof of Citizenship when registering to vote with the state. In the past, all Arizona residents were able to fill out a state registration form and those who did not provide citizenship documents were automatically enrolled to vote in federal elections only. Because of this ruling, residents are now required to provide documentation proving citizenship, if they fill out a state registration form. Unfortunately, in the same ruling on Thursday, the court maintained that Arizona must continue...

Upset that the Supreme Court's recent decision that a president has immunity for his official actions, Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) has proposed legislation that "would declare that the actions taken by Trump on January 6, 2021 were unofficial and illegal. This will ensure that justice is done and eliminate the need for long and complicated court proceedings." Schumer explained that "a power that legislatures have invoked in the past was to specifically identify a person known to be a criminal as an outlaw. This meant that it would be legal for anyone to slay this outlaw. Every decent...

There's never been a political speech like Donald Trump's address to the 2024 Republican National Convention. The former president's narration of the attempt on his life was gripping television. When he kissed the fireman's helmet of Corey Comperatore, the husband and father who was killed during the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, last weekend, he created an indelible image. The Trump who appeared on stage was humble, gracious, contemplative. Then, a half hour into the speech, Trump began to improvise. He talked. And talked. He was the Trump we are used to seeing on the campaign trail: garrulous and sarcastic, cracking...

Daily Readings from the USCCBJesus was going through a field of grain on the sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick the heads of grain and eat them. When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, “See, your disciples are doing what is unlawful to do on the sabbath.” Matthew 12:1–2When Moses gave the Ten Commandments to the people, there was a prohibition against working on the Sabbath. The Third Commandment said, in part, that “you shall not do any work” on the Sabbath (Exodus 20:10). By the time of Jesus, the Pharisees had added much commentary...
