Recent developments in Britain and France are making it clear to everyone what European countries have done to themselves, but the full effects still won’t be seen for another few decades. Still, there are hints of what is happening, and what is to come, that are unmistakable to those who are paying attention. The attentive, however, are still few — so few that this entire ghastly drama will have to be played out to its almost inevitable conclusion. Consider, for example, a piquant and revealing news item from Sweden: crime rates go down in the summertime. Why? Because the “refugees”...

Ford is unveiling its newest electric vehicle this week. Ahead of its official debut, Ford teased the new EV, claiming “the legend is back.” Ford confirmed the new EV will be revealed on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. The new EV will follow Ford’s electric Explorer as the automaker’s second model based on Volkswagen’s MEB platform. The first all-electric Explorer rolled off the assembly line at Ford’s new Cologne EV plant in Germany last month. It was the first of a 2020 deal with VW to use its platform as it looks to revamp sales in the region. Described as a...

A proposed Republican Party platform backed by presumptive presidential nominee, former President Donald Trump, would soften the pro-life stance of the GOP, removing calls for federal restrictions to abortion access and language opposing same-sex marriage. The 2024 Republican convention platform committee reportedly voted 84-18 on Monday during a closed-door session in favor of the proposed abortion plank, which does not call for a national abortion ban nor a constitutional amendment to protect unborn human life. In 2016 and 2020, Trump ran on a platform that called for a constitutional amendment to protect unborn life and for a national abortion ban...

The World Health Organization's (WHO) cancer research agency has delivered a damning report on powdered mineral talc, calling it "probably" cancer-causing to humans, mainly because of powders being unknowingly contaminated with asbestos. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified the naturally occurring talc as "probably carcinogenic to humans (Group 2A)" based on "limited evidence" of ovarian cancer, "sufficient evidence" of experimental animals developing cancers and "strong mechanistic evidence" of carcinogenic properties found in human cells. It supports the findings of a large study published in May, which found that applying talc to female genitals was associated with a...

The Republican National Committee (RNC) Platform Committee has officially adopted former President Donald Trump’s 2024 Republican Party Platform with what it described as “overwhelming” support, detailing the comprehensive plan in a press release with 20 main points. Before providing the specific points, the committee drove home the point that despite the United States’ great history, it is now at a crucial point, going in “serious decline,” as American values are under attack from the radical left and the country needs to deal with the consequences of leftist policies. “Today we must once again call upon the same American Spirit that...

"Each one hopes that if he feeds the crocodile enough, the crocodile will eat him last," is how Winston Churchill, just months away from becoming Britain's wartime Prime Minister, described the appeasement that led to World War II. "All of them hope that the storm will pass before their turn comes to be devoured. " The same could be said of France's snap election, in which everyone from French Stalinists to the country's business interests banded together to defeat the country's "far right" at the polls. But the far right is not the threat, and the crocodile snapping at everyone's...

Whether you like leftism or not (I don’t), one of the most admirable things about leftists is that they are long-term planners. Conservatives dream of quick fixes, but leftists put systems in place and then patiently wait for them to come to fruition. San Francisco perfectly illustrates how this works...and it goes back to the 1960s. At the end of June, a San Francisco convenience store was robbed and vandalized. This happened in a city that no longer polices minor crimes (allowing it to boast that its crime statistics have improved), thereby paving the way for major crimes. The city,...

July 8 (UPI) -- Researchers with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission shared an unusual catch from a recent fish survey -- a longnose gar with a crooked back. The FWC's Fish and Wildlife Research Institute said biologists were conducting an electrofishing survey in Silver Glen Springs when they found the 2.7-foot-long gar with a bend in its back making it resemble an upside-down letter V. Researchers said it evoked memories of a recent discovery of a "squiggly" bull shark caught near Titusville that appeared to have scoliosis or a similar spinal deformity. The FWC said there were some...

— It's time to take back control of our professionAs you may recall from my recent analysisopens in a new tab or window of the 2024 Doximity compensation report, doctor pay is decreasing in real terms. That's a problem given that the same report indicated the large majority of doctors do not feel fairly compensated. Moreover, physicians are being asked to do more and more. We see this in doctors' responses that indicate higher patient workload and greater administrative burdens as top causes of burnout. Decreasing doctor pay coupled with greater workload is a recipe for disaster on both...

When it comes to climate science, basically, researchers, mainstream media outlets, the UN, and the Democrats simply make things up as they go along to fit the narrative. When the earth didn’t warm up as much as they predicted, they changed the terminology from global warming to climate change. When hundreds of dire predictions never came true, and they had no scientific data to support their policies to destroy industries and our quality and way of life, they just made things up, just like they did with COVID. Now, take a look at this, from The Washington Post, via Yahoo...

(ESO/M. Kornmesser) Observations by the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) have provided astronomers with unprecedented new insights into the early universe, thanks to detailed imagery of the quasar PJ308–21 recently obtained by NASA’s premier space observatory. The new imagery reveals the appearance of this celestial object as it would have looked when the universe was less than a billion years old, offering a detailed view of the quasar’s spectrum and host galaxy. Obtained with Webb’s NIRSpec instrument, the new imagery of quasar PJ308–21 reveals its spectrum with an uncertainty of less than 1% per pixel despite the object’s incredible...

A 75-year-old Journey fan in Cleveland, Ohio was reportedly scammed out of $122,000 by an online imposter posing as Steve Perry. According to WKYC, in January the woman responded to a Facebook message from someone claiming to be the band's former lead singer. According to Westlake police, "The fake Mr. Perry had a business opportunity and of course 'needed a woman in his life.'" According to the police report, over the next several months the woman sent the Perry imposter $72,000 in wire transfers to "various persons in various different states, designated by 'Perry,' through her bank" as well as...

"Are you better off now than you were four years ago?" was famously used by Ronald Reagan in the 1980 presidential debate and remains relevant in elections today. Recent polls indicate that many Americans do not feel better under President Joe Biden's administration. According to a February AP-NORC poll, only 24% of Americans feel better off since Biden took office, while 41% feel worse off and 34% feel the same. These figures highlight the mixed sentiments about economic progress during Biden's presidency. Economic challenges such as inflation, high mortgage rates, and increased living costs are central to these perceptions. The...

Joe Egan, the creative partner of Gerry Rafferty in Stealers Wheel, died at 77 on July 6. Egan co-wrote the band’s most popular song, “Stuck in the Middle With You,” which became a Top 10 hit in both the U.S. and the U.K. in 1973 – reaching No. 6 in the Billboard Hot 100 – before a resurgence as a result of its use in 1992 movie Reservoir Dogs. “Very sad news that the other half of Stealers Wheel, Joe Egan, passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon with his nearest and dearest around him,” read a post on Rafferty’s official Facebook...

Iran has lost one of its newest indigenous warships after it capsized in an "accident" in its home port, the country's state media said on Sunday. The Iranian navy's Moudge-class frigate the Sahand was under repairs at a dock in Bandar Abbas, on Iran's south coast, when the incident took place, according to the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency, quoting a statement from the military. A water leak caused the warship to "lose its balance," the Iranian military said. Photos carried by state media showed the Sahand rolled over and partially submerged among several ships moored nearby.

(NOQ Report)—Joe Biden stirred up voters during a series of campaign stops in Pennsylvania on Sunday, attempting to quell growing concerns among some Democrats about his suitability for a second term. “Dark Brandon is coming back,” he quipped to a supporter in Harrisburg who mentioned the meme, initially used to counter worries about Biden’s age early in his campaign. Despite facing increasing pressure from members of Congress to withdraw from the race after a lackluster debate performance last month, Biden claimed he hasn’t seen a similar reaction from voters. “We’ve been drawing big crowds. Ever since the debate, not joking,...

WASHINGTON - U.S. President Joe Biden wants Democrats in Congress to know he has no intention of exiting this year's election, sending them a letter on Monday on his personal letterhead. Here is Biden's letter to the congressional Democrats whose backing he likely needs: Fellow Democrats, Now that you have returned from the July 4th recess, I want you to know that despite all the speculation in the press and elsewhere, I am firmly committed to staying in this race, to running this race to the end, and to beating Donald Trump. I have had extensive conversations with the leadership...
