President Joe Biden said Wednesday that he's considering ending the prosecution of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. In February, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese requested that the yearslong prosecution of Assange be ended and that he be returned to his native Australia. Biden is entertaining a fellow member of the Quad, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, at the White House Wednesday for an official state visit. 'We're considering it,' Biden told reporters when asked about Assange as he walked with Kishida along the colonnade of the White House after Wednesday's welcome ceremony on the South Lawn. Assange is in custody in...

Smith is trying to stretch Section 1512 in hopes of bypassing a potential ruling deeming the government’s abuse of the law illegal.Democrat hacks have claimed that Special Counsel Jack Smith’s indictments against Donald Trump over the former president’s challenging of the 2020 election are legally sound. So why is Smith grasping at legal straws in his latest court filing? On Monday, Smith filed a brief with the U.S. Supreme Court urging the nation’s highest judicial body to dismiss Trump’s presidential immunity claims. Citing the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol, the special counsel indicted Trump in August over his...

There's been chatter when it comes to Democrats calling for Justice Sonia Sotomayor to retire, so that President Joe Biden can nominate another liberal justice. Of course, the left has done it before, forcing now former Justice Stephen Breyer to retire so that Biden could nominate now Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. The retirement was even leaked beforehand. Not everyone is calling for Sotomayor to rush into retirement, though, with Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) offering a suggestion for someone else who should retire.According to HuffPost's Igor Bobic, Fetterman said that "I have no opinion on anyone else’s ability to retire unless...

Explanation: What wonders appear when the Moon blocks the Sun? For many eager observers of Monday’s total eclipse of the Sun, the suddenly dark sky included the expected corona and two (perhaps surprise) planets: Venus and Jupiter. Normally, in recent days, Venus is visible only in the morning when the Sun and Jupiter are below the horizon, while Jupiter appears bright only in the evening. On Monday, though, for well-placed observers, both planets became easily visible during the day right in line with the totally eclipsed Sun. This line was captured Monday afternoon in the featured image from Mount Nebo,...
  • Smackdown: CNN's Fareed Zakaria tries to egg Finland's leader into blasting Trump, gets egg all over his face instead

In a recent discussion with Alexander Stubb, who is the president of Finland, CNN’s Fareed Zakaria apparently thought it would be a cakewalk to get the newly elected European leader to say something negative and alarming about former President Donald Trump. It did not go well for Fareed. President Stubb ended up praising Trump for doing what is right. Fareed, pushing a familiarly deceptive media line, asked President Stubb to comment on “what everybody is talking about,” namely that:Donald Trump said he would tell Russia to do what you have to do, words to that effect, about NATO members if...

For Joe Biden, it's got to be maddening.Day after day, he cooks up another legally questionable student loan forgiveness program, announces it to much fanfare to a fawning media, and all he gets for it is young people moving to vote for President Trump.According to Politico:Polls show former President Donald Trump is ascendant with the youngest bloc of the electorate, even leading President Joe Biden in some surveys, as less-engaged young voters spurn Biden. Meanwhile, Biden is stronger with seniors than he was four years ago, even as his personal image is significantly diminished since he was elected last time.That...
  • Civil War-Era Law Upheld to Ban Abortion in Arizona

    04/10/2024 10:19:12 AM PDT · by Eleutheria5 · 18 replies
The Arizona Supreme Court has decided to uphold a Civil War-era law that bans abortion. A law on the books from 1864 is enforceable, according to Arizona judges. The year in which that law was passed, 1864, was before human chattel slavery was outlawed, and almost 50 years before Arizona was officially part of the United States. The law makes abortion a felony punishable by two to five years in prison. But the ban may be overturned at the polls in November. The 1864 law goes back into effect in 14 days.

Following the report, traders pushed the first expected rate cut out to September, according to CME Group calculations.

A new poll from the media outlet Axios found that President Joe Biden’s support among the Latino population is eroding while support for former President Donald Trump is rising. The latest Axios-Ipsos poll found that among Latinos, Biden was only leading Trump by nine points (41-32) as opposed to Biden’s first year as president when the margin was a whopping 29 points (53-24). That could prove pivotal in swing states such as Nevada and Arizona. “In almost every case, Trump performs better than the Republican brand and Biden performs worse than the Democratic brand,” Ipsos pollster and senior vice president...

I used to enjoy the occasional Tucker Carlson monologue on Fox News. His content was usually pointed and amusing and delivered with a breezy charm. But I rarely bothered with a Tucker Carlson interview. As an interviewer, too often, I found him strangely incurious and glib instead of breezy. But his interview on Tuesday with Reverend Munther Isaac was so much worse than merely glib or incurious. Carlson chose to interview Isaac to find out how the Jewish State of Israel treats Christians. Isaac is a priest who neither lives nor works in Israel and who uses the loaded phrase...

President Joe Biden took on a heckler who interrupted his speech at the D.C. train station, then joked that the man could probably best him in a fight. Biden grew fiesty immediately after touting provisions in his American Rescue Plan that had the 'biggest investment in childcare ever.' At that point a man briefly interrupted his remarks, pegged to 'care workers recognition month.' 'I tell you what - You want to come make a speech or shush up, okay?' Then, Biden added, 'He looks like he could take me,' drawing a laugh from the crowd of supporters. He quickly moved...

President Joe Biden is spending more than $1 trillion on his climate agenda, but it does not seem to be resonating at all with voters in battleground states, according to new polling from The Wall Street Journal.Only 2% of registered voters surveyed named climate change as the most important issue in the 2024 election, compared to 25% who identified immigration as the top issue and 22% who indicated that the economy was their top concern, according to the WSJ’s poll. California lacks information on the costs or efficacy of its homelessness programs, despite allocating billions of dollars to them, a report released by the state auditor’s office on Tuesday found. California Interagency Council on Homelessness (ICH) is responsible for coordinating and evaluating the efforts of California’s state agency in reducing homelessness. ICH, however, “has not consistently tracked and evaluated” the state’s efforts to prevent and end homelessness and, as a result, California “lacks current information on the ongoing costs and outcomes of its homelessness programs,” according to a report from the California State Auditor. The homeless population in California has...

The ridiculous claim that Israel is guilty of committing an actual genocide in Gaza is just a Hamas talking point that leftists have sadly parroted, the latest one being Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren. In a video that was posted to social media by a reporter for Boston-based GBH, the serial exaggerator was seen telling a crowd at a local Islamic center that she agreed that the Jewish nation was guilty of the wholesale liquidation of the Palestinian people, a blatant falsehood that has been repeated ever since Israel retaliated against the terrorists that slaughtered over 1,200 of its citizens last...

DALLAS – Thousands of guns sent off by North Texas local law enforcement agencies to be destroyed were first stripped of parts that were then sold online by a private company. Several police departments told the CBS News Texas I-Team they were unaware of this practice, even though it was stated in the contracts they signed with the company While the federal government does not regulate or require a license for businesses involved in firearm destruction, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) recommends disposing firearms by destroying the entire weapon including all unregulated parts. An investigation by...

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., is planning to devote much of his energy in the remaining months of his term as Republican leader, as well as the next few years of his term, to ensuring Ukraine is supported as its war with Russia rages on. "It may not be fashionable now, but I’m a Ronald Reagan Republican: peace through strength," the longtime Senate GOP leader said during a speech in Shelbyville, Kentucky, per local outlet the Kentucky Lantern. McConnell has been a proponent of continued support for Ukraine, even after members of his party began to push back.
