In the summer of 2013, a Moscow restaurant owner was gunned down in the Russian capital. A hooded man jumped off a bike and shot his victim twice before fleeing. Six years later, an exiled Chechen commander, Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, was murdered in a busy Berlin park in eerily similar circumstances, shot by a man on a bike with a silenced Glock 26 in broad daylight. The assailant was arrested after dumping a pistol and wig in the River Spree close to the Reichstag, the building housing the German parliament. A passport bearing the name "Vadim Sokolov" was found on the...

I purchased a decent network laser printe earlier this year and it’s been great. . It’s been great. Now we have grandkids and I learn that inkjet printers do a much better job of printing pictures. So I am looking for recommendations for network inkjet photo printers. My last one sucked (10 years ago) ate ink and never operated well. I figured there were some ameture photography people that could recommend a good network printer for pictures. The laser will handle everything else. One that works with apple/MS os would be great. Anyone have a good recommendation that doesn’t just...

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis spoke about race in a speech on Friday, seemingly in response to part of Judge Scott McAfee's recent order that said she could remain on Donald Trump's Georgia election interference case. **SNIP** Willis previously rejected the accusations and said during a speech in January at an Atlanta church that her critics were "playing the race card" given that they had singled out Wade, who is Black. As part of his March 15 ruling, McAfee focused on Willis' January speech and noted that "the District Attorney described the effort [to disqualify her] as motivated by...

There is little doubt that the COVID-19 restrictions in place now have caused major disruptions in our daily life and have had negative economic impacts on California families, especially the working poor. But consider how much worse it would be if we in California hadn’t moved quickly to “flatten the curve.” An out-of-control pandemic would rage through our state at numbers unimaginable and would have much more severe consequences on the health of Californians, as well as the economy. Thankfully, California is once again leading the way by taking major measures such as shelter in place, physical distancing, orders to...

Congressman Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) had choice words for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Saturday comments, calling him a “maniac” who “needs” to be removed from office. The progressive Democrat initially discussed the Biden administration transferring 1,800 MK84 2,000-pound bombs, 500 MK82 500-pound bombs and 25 F-35A fighter jets to Israel without notifying lawmakers, an arms package reported exclusively by the Washington Post on Friday.

Quite depressing program on the BBC. Conservatives promised in 2016 to reduce levels of net migration from 300k. It is now doubled to 600k+. (per year) despite Brexit and having more control. They played video of ministers promising to cut it... They lied. The minister says "We have seen conflicts in Ukraine, Syria and Afghanistan". This was his excuse. Now talking about graduate work visas introduced despite recommendations made by experts who said it should not go ahead. All in all, legal migration has exploded under the Conservatives to 1.44 million (a year!) They've been handing out visas like candy...

The Biden administration's plan to relocate grizzly bear populations to rural parts of Washington State will have a devastating impact on agriculture and livestock in the region while posing a significant danger to local communities, a fifth generation cattle producer warned. Residents of Washington State are doubling down on their concerns surrounding the federal government's plan to translocate grizzly bears, an apex predator, to the federally-managed North Cascades National Park, after the National Park Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service declared the strategy their preferred plan for grizzly bear management in the region. The North Cascades National Park borders...

People are not satisfied with the San Francisco city government’s progress in providing reparations to descendants of African Americans who have suffered historical discrimination, according to a new report. Although a city government panel proposed monetary reparations for eligible Black residents last year – with some potentially receiving $5 million, "So far, all they’ve received is an apology," The Washington Post reported. The Post detailed how the city has had to cut funding for the project, and that people are growing frustrated over the lack of progress on reparations. The San Francisco Board of Supervisors put out an official apology...

A fertilizer spill into the Nishnabotna River containing 1,500 tons of a liquid nitrogen solution is annihilating the aquatic wildlife in the river, including the portion in Missouri. According to Ecological Health Unit Science Supervisor with the Missouri Department of Conservation Matt Combes, the spill has affected 60 miles of the Nishnabotna River, including the 10 miles in Missouri. Combes said the spill has led to a near total fish kill, with an estimated 40,000 fish dying in the Missouri portion. "That included catfish of the size that anglers like to catch and shovelnose sturgeon... and blue suckers and other...

Russian forces have deployed a powerful ODAB-1500 bomb in Ukraine for the first time, striking the town of Velyka Pysarivka in Sumy Oblast, Russian Bild reported on Telegram on March 30. Following the ODAB-1500 strike, a smoke cloud billowed to a height of 1 kilometer, reported Bild military analyst Julian Röpcke. The ODAB, or volumetric detonating aviation bomb, is a relic from the Soviet era. About 10 meters before impact, this bomb releases a combustible liquid in aerosol form, igniting upon contact, resulting in a volumetric explosion. These bombs primarily target enemy soldiers and lightly armored vehicles, delivering devastating blast...

Bangladesh on this date in 2007 hanged six Islamic militants* for a terrorist bombing wave two years prior. Several were agents of the terrorist organization Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh, notable for a headline-grabbing coordinated bombing on August 17, 2005 that saw hundreds of explosions throughout Bangladesh. That organization’s chief Shaykh Abdur Rahman was among those executed on March 30, 2007, as was “Bangla Bhai” (Siddique ul-Islam), the leader of the Al Qaeda-aligned Jagrata Muslim Janata Bangladesh (JMJB).

Incredible map shows the places on the moon where we might find ‘infinite energy’ or trillions in minerals by 2030. A new space race is warming up after half a century, with Russia, China and America racing to put robots, human astronauts and even lunar trains on the moon. The prize is enormous, with resources ranging from ‘rare earth’ minerals used in electronics to Helium-3, a potential energy source which could power a nuclear fusion revolution offering infinite clean energy. Morgan Stanley has previously suggested that the global space industry could be worth $1 trillion annually by 2040 - and...

Jesus crucifixion is one of betrayal. Denial. Cowardice. Envy. Hate. Brutality. Suffering. Despair. Defeat. Death. Yet, Christians celebrate the cross because the story does not end on that fateful Friday. It does not end at the cross. The irony of the cross was the very instrument Jesus' enemies used to defeat Him became His greatest victory. Little did they know when Friday ended what would happen on Sunday to change the course of the world's history. And so in the spirit of this theme, I want to share a part of that famous sermon by Lockridge. As you read this,...

Holy Mother Church offers us Readings from Scripture this Easter Sunday that comprise an elegant review and statement of the whole Gospel message. In particular, they focus our attention on the Resurrection, the Eucharist, and the relationship between the two. 1. The First Reading is Acts 10:34a, 37-43: Peter proceeded to speak and said: “You know what has happened all over Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached, how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power. He went about doing good and healing all those oppressed by the devil, for God was with...
