California Secretary of State Shirley Weber announced on Friday that Assemblyman Vince Fong cannot run for former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's (R-CA) House seat next year because he has already filed to run for state Assembly. Weber confirmed that under California state law, a candidate cannot appear on one ballot for two separate offices. "Under state law, a candidate who has filed their declaration of candidacy is not permitted to withdraw as a candidate at that primary election," the secretary said in a statement. "Mr. Fong filed his completed nomination documents for Assembly District 32 prior to the close of...

ALBANY, N.Y. — A new bill in the New York State Assembly would require all restaurants at Thruway rest stops be open seven days a week. That includes Chick-fil-A. The fast food chain has a company policy of being closed on Sundays — which lawmakers backing the bill say is a “disservice and unnecessary inconvenience” for travelers on the Thruway. The bill was just introduced Wednesday, meaning it has a while to go before it could b voted on or potentially signed into law. Right now, Chick-fil-A eateries are open at seven of 27 Thruway service areas being rebuilt.

I may be Jewish but I think I give the best Christmas present. I am a coin collector and I enjoy giving my Christian friends an ancient coin known as the widow’s mite. I will be doing it again this Christmas. According to Mark 12:41-44 (King James):

On the evening of Dec. 16, 1773, a crowd of armed men, some allegedly wearing costumes meant to disguise them as Native American warriors, boarded three ships docked at Griffin’s Wharf in Boston. In the vessels’ holds were 340 chests containing 92,000 pounds of tea, the most popular drink in America. With support from the patriot group known as the Sons of Liberty, the intruders methodically searched the ships and dumped their tea into Boston Harbor. According to the British East India Company, whose proprietors owned the destroyed cargo, losses totaled more than a million dollars in today’s currency. The...

The number of unruly passenger incidents has doubled this year compared to 2019 onboard KLM flights and at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, the Dutch flag carrier said Thursday. That's despite the Air France-KLM group being 6% below its pre-pandemic capacity, as it reported during this year's third-quarter results. It suggests that airline passengers are misbehaving more frequently across the board, with scores of high-profile incidents this year — from Tiffany Gomas, the American Airlines passenger who went viral after accusing another customer of not being real, to several passengers trying to open emergency exit doors.

I am talking about normal Christians who do have a working mind. It is a sin for them not to use it. Sure, some folks might be smarter or brighter than others – maybe even have higher IQs and the like. But that is still no excuse. Some Christians will just have to work harder at this and put more effort into it. This is true of all areas of life. In Christ we are to grow and mature in all spheres. The English humourist P. G. Wodehouse once said: “Some minds are like soup in a poor restaurant—better left unstirred.”...

I have noted several times in the past few years that the nature of our relationship with government seems to have shifted. Specifically, We The People now appear to be in an abusive relationship with government. In all abusive relationships there is a common set of behaviors; the DC control system is following a familiar pattern. My recent research trips helped me to understand exactly how severe and deep this shift has become.Certain abusers distort reality in the mind of their victims through gaslighting. Essentially manipulative and strategic lying, to make the abused think something, perhaps even their reality, is...

The Biden administration has told Israel that attacks intentionally or inadvertently against Lebanon’s armed forces are “unacceptable” over fears that the conflict in the Middle East could expand, according to a report. US officials believe that since Oct. 7 at least 34 Israeli strikes have hit areas where members of the Lebanese Armed Forces were present, resulting in eight injuries and one death, CNN reported Friday. ... “The United States is proud of its partnership with the LAF, an essential institution, not only to the stability and security of Lebanon, but of the entire region,” the spokesperson said.

resident Biden's administration has begun probing the nation's largest banks to assess their plans to mitigate climate risk with their loans and business. A recent "discovery review" led by the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) looked into more than two dozen banks to determine how they are accounting for climate risk in their loans and investment strategies, in addition to investigating how they manage energy finance and greenhouse gas emissions, Reuters first reported. The purpose of this review is to supervise bank activities and support the effective management of climate-related financial risks among institutions...

FIRST ON FOX: Lawmakers want to know why the Social Security Administration has reportedly erroneously overpaid benefits to millions of Americans and then hit beneficiaries with demands for repayment to the tune of thousands of dollars. A bipartisan letter sent by House members in the Ohio delegation presses Dr. Kilolo Kijakazi, the acting commissioner of the Social Security Administration (SSA), for answers on its efforts to claw back overpayments from Americans, many of whom did nothing wrong. Those affected are elderly or disabled people on a fixed income who may have their benefits frozen or cut until their debt is...

Israeli soldiers foiled “an elaborate Hamas ambush” that used dolls and children’s backpacks rigged with speakers playing sounds of crying to lure them into a terrorist tunnel in the Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces said Friday. Footage released by the IDF showed the alley where the ambush would have been staged. “Here in every corner were … explosives,” .... The forces subsequently found children’s dolls and backpacks with speakers to imitate crying sounds and songs, the footage showed. “The goal is to draw us in to look for, to see these things … they play voices in Hebrew so...

The Washington Post editorial board admitted that the Justice Department has a "strong criminal case" against Hunter Biden, President Joe Biden's son, and argued that Hunter's involvement in Burisma was a scandal. "The Justice Department has strong criminal cases against Hunter Biden for allegedly failing to pay federal taxes, claiming false deductions and lying about his drug use on paperwork to buy a gun," the editorial board argued. "Congress, by contrast, lacks any reasonable basis for moving forward with impeachment against President Biden over his son’s dubious business dealings and personal conduct." The editorial board criticized Hunter for his involvement...

Alex Batty was found Wednesday in southwestern France by a delivery driverA 17-year-old British boy was found safe in France this week, six years after being taken by his mother, and recently ran away from her because she wanted to move them to Finland, according to a report. In 2017, Alex Batty went on a two-week trip to Spain with his grandfather and mother, Melanie Batty — who didn't have legal custody of him and allegedly abducted him — but the trio failed to return to the U.K. at the time. Alex said after they went off-the-grid, they were constantly...
