Alex Batty was found Wednesday in southwestern France by a delivery driver
A 17-year-old British boy was found safe in France this week, six years after being taken by his mother, and recently ran away from her because she wanted to move them to Finland, according to a report.
In 2017, Alex Batty went on a two-week trip to Spain with his grandfather and mother, Melanie Batty — who didn't have legal custody of him and allegedly abducted him — but the trio failed to return to the U.K. at the time.
Alex said after they went off-the-grid, they were constantly moving, including living in Morocco and the French Pyrenees, which is known for people who seek out alternative lifestyles, with a group of around 10 "spiritual" people. Alex said he finally ran away from his mother because he wanted to go back to his life in the U.K., BBC News reported.

But I thought Finland has it all!
Whoever his mom is, she must be loaded with ready cash, leapfrogging from one expensive European country to another, based on a whim.
Outside of Helsinki, Finland gets to being fairly rural and remote in nature.
The only cult I know of in Finland....some American-tribal-pretender group from the 1990s. They dressed up in traditional US Indian garb and lived the authentic lifestyle. I think the winters got to a point where it wasn’t practical....after a few years, they dissolved and headed to warmer climates.
Group was Iriadamant. Wouldn’t shock me if this gal was in some group to ‘re-brand’ and bring them back.
I don't know many Finnish slackers.
Finland is the happiest place on earth. Or so we’re told. Not everything is hyvaa there. There are problems with alcohol and drugs. There is currently debate over a citizens initiative to provide “safe drug use rooms”.
They love their Death Metal in Finland.
So glad he is coming back to his grandmother. There definitely was a reason she got custody!
also no freedom of speech and saying your church shouldn’t celebrate lgbtq issues will land you in a legal battle for years...
