  • NYC, Eric Adams must wage campaign to curb diabetes ‘epidemic’ affecting 1 million New Yorkers: health report

Mayor Eric Adams tamed his own diabetes — now a report commissioned by his Health Department is recommending a well-funded citywide campaign to curb the debilitating and potentially deadly chronic disease afflicting 1 million other New Yorkers. The report calls for the opening more diabetes treatment centers in hospitals in poor neighborhoods, overhauling Medicaid reimbursement to cover more diabetes monitoring and prevention programs, expanding healthier food options in underserved communities and sponsoring public health campaigns. The report notes an increase of amputations of people with diabetes and that the chronic disease disproportionately impacts residents of color.

For centuries, the Church has battled against the heresies of Emperors, kings, tyrants, and even its own adherents. Today, Islam has slithered into some of the inner circles of the highest-ranking Church officials. One such instance is the confidant and secretary for left-wing female Archbishop Antje Jackelen of the corrupted Church of Sweden, a theologian named Jakob Wiren. In a new book, Wiren claims that the Church should regard Mohammed as a prophet. In an interview with Swedish newspaper Dagen, Wiren states, “Regarding the concept of prophecy, it’s quite open. There are prophets and prophesying even after Jesus’s resurrection, especially in...

A plan to overturn London's Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) scheme has received major new backing just days before the Bill is heard in Parliament. Gareth Johnson, Conservative MP for Dartford, will present The Greater London Low Emission Zone Charging (Amendment) Bill to the House of Commons on December 6 in a plan to axe the charge. The new Bill will give Parliament a chance to overturn the expansion after the Tory MP said London Mayor Sadiq Khan had "no mandate" for the scheme. FairFuelUK, an industry-leading campaign group has now thrown its weight behind the project as the campaign...

NASA has announced that its 30-year-old iconic space telescope has stopped working and paused all scientific operations following a gyro error. The space agency explained via its blogpost that the Hubble Space Telescope entered safe mode on November 23 due to an "ongoing gyroscope (gyro) issue", and that the space telescope's instruments remain in good health. NASA further explained that Hubble entered into safe mode automatically when one of its three gyroscopes provided faulty readings. For those that don't know, Hubble's gyro's measure the turn rates of telescope, which is a component of the telescope knowing which direction it's pointing...

OPINION: As the nation hurtles toward a critical election and the world confronts two wars, the fate of U.S. democracy is complicated by another pressure: the public’s low esteem of the media. Trust in the news is at record lows, especially among conservatives, and local news is at risk of dying out completely. Isn’t that the case, repeated in poll after poll and bemoaned by pundits? That sad state hangs over everything, because democracy depends on an agreed-upon set of facts, a free press to discover them and a public square where citizens can find compromise over their differences.

Thursday marks five years since the death of Maine’s most famous part-time citizen, former U.S. President George H.W. Bush. Bush was born in Massachusetts, grew up in Connecticut and made his fortune in Texas but he also had a life-long connection to Maine. Specifically, his family's home in Kennebunkport at Walker's Point. During his White House years, from 1989 to early 1993, he turned Walker's Point into his summer White House.

There have been more mass shootings with four or more deaths in 2023 than in any year since at least 2006, according to gun violence data. There have been 38 mass killings this year, up from last year’s previous high of 36, The Washington Post’s gun violence database shows. A pair of shootings in Dallas and Vancouver, Wash., on Sunday broke the record and pushed the number of deaths in such shootings to 197 — excluding the gunmen. Mass killings have been on the rise in recent years, especially since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. There were 21 mass...

Tuesday morning the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments pursuant to a case in which Charles and Kathleen Moore argue that an obscure provision of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is unconstitutional. This is not an “inside baseball” case that only compulsive Court watchers will care about. If the justices rule against the Moores, it will supercharge the government’s confiscatory powers by enabling its inclination to tax unrealized income. This will affect everyone reading this column, not just investors with large stock portfolios. It would, in theory, permit the IRS to tax an increase in the value...

…Former U.S. Capitol Police Lieutenant Tarik Johnson, who was present at the Capitol on that day, has been challenging the government narrative on the incident and has indicated that the authorities on the ground were ill-prepared for what happened. Now, he indicated that he would be releasing audio recordings that could further blow up the prevailing narrative and suggested a “set-up” and cover-up surrounding the issue…. The former police officer said he had entrusted the information to Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch and indicated that a journalist working with The Blaze “has permission to receive the info and do whatever...

Sometimes you get a wake-up call and realize that the world is, in fact, beyond parody. This Babylon Bee article went viral on X after a user screenshotted the headline (with the Babylon Bee URL in plain view!!) and posted it as a response to Disney pulling ads from X. It's satire! It's a joke about Disney and grooming. But apparently, it's just a little too close to reality. They had to fact-check a Babylon Bee story because it's too believable that Disney is grooming kids on X!!! Man, what does that say about Disney? They've absolutely tanked their brand....

he almost unbelievable atrocities committed by Hamas on Israelis continue to come to light and there are more to come. They almost appear to be something new under the sun. Consider, for example, Hamas’s the rape variations employed by Hamas as a tool of war. This morning the Associated Press provides a reported backgrounder on Hamas’s hostage strategy. Atrocities are implicit in the story. Today the Times of Israel adds that “Hamas drugged freed Gaza hostages to make them seem happy…” As I say, there is more to come. It is anticipated in State Department spokesman Matthew Miller’s observation yesterday:...

Man, I'm so out of the loop. I had no idea Oxford was trying to run with the cool kids now. The viral term was crowned 2023's "word of the year" by the Oxford University Press, which it lists as a "colloquial noun, defined as ‘style, charm, or attractiveness; the ability to attract a romantic or sexual partner.'" It is believed to stem from the word "charisma." OUP's decision comes after a year of rizz-related memes helped make it one of the most buzzy slang terms, particularly among Gen Zers … Not sure why the second-oldest college in the world...

Nov. 30. It is quite possible that a battle will have been joined on the field of Chancellors before these lines meet the reader's eye. Although Winter has evidently begun in Virginia, the Federal Government has decreed that neither rain nor mud shall prevent the "Army of the Potomac" from its last venture. The long lines of the old adversaries confront. The first blood has been draws, and the good omen has once more fallen in favor of the Confederacy. Gen. Meade is perhaps the best officer who has commanded his often beaten army since McClellan, but he has not...

In a recent development, The Gateway Pundit, one of the top conservative websites in the country today, reported that its access has been blocked on networks within both the United States House of Representatives and the Pentagon. On Thursday, sources from Capitol Hill informed The Gateway Pundit that attempts to access the website from the House network were unsuccessful. A staff member from Congressman Paul Gosar’s office detailed ongoing access problems for the past two weeks. “Wanted to notify you that I have been unable to access the Gateway Pundit on the House network for the past two weeks,” according...

SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco Mayor London Breed has given the go-ahead calling for $75 million in mid-year budget cuts. While there are no layoffs, the cuts would eliminate vacant job positions and scale back some programs that haven't even started. One of which is a new office that would have implemented reparations for Black San Francisco residents.

Mayor Eric Adams will travel to Washington DC Thursday for a series of meetings to discuss additional federal aid for New York City and other cities bearing the brunt of the migrant crisis — after his last trip was cut short by an FBI raid on his chief fundraiser’s home. It was not immediately clear whether Adams will meet with President Biden or any other senior White House officials during his visit. The mayor’s full schedule will be made public Wednesday. Deputy Mayor for Communication Fabien Levy wrote on X that the main topic of discussions in DC will be...
