BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) – Hungary’s prime minister said Friday he does not support moving forward on negotiations on Ukraine’s future membership in the European Union, signaling again that his country could pose a major roadblock to Kyiv’s ambitions to join the bloc. EU leaders are to decide in mid-December whether Ukraine should be formally invited to begin talks to join the 27-member union, with Hungary seen as a potential obstacle. Unanimity among all member states is required to admit a new country into the bloc, giving Hungary’s prime minister, Viktor Orbán, a powerful veto.

(The Epoch Times)—Restrictions imposed by President Joe Biden’s administration on so-called ghost guns are illegal, a federal appeals court ruled on Nov. 9. The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), an Executive Branch agency that promulgated the rule containing the restrictions in 2022 with President Biden’s support, overstepped its authority, according to a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit. “The agency rule at issue here flouts clear statutory text and exceeds the legislatively-imposed limits on agency authority in the name of public policy,” U.S. Circuit Judge Kurt Engelhardt wrote in the ruling....

Left-wing American Jews feel betrayed by the Left. It’s a Left that remains anti-Israel even after the greatest single-day massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, and even though most Palestinians and their supporters explicitly call for the destruction of the Jewish state: “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” Progressive American Jews are shocked by their fellow progressives. But the only thing that is shocking is their shock. Here’s why: The Left has been calling for an economic boycott of Israel for decades and has labeled Israel an “apartheid” state. The Left labels America, the most tolerant,...

[Catholic Caucus] Cardinal Müller responds to Pope Francis’ dubia on ‘transsexual’ godparents, baptisms‘It is confusing and harmful when the Magisterium relies on the terminology of a nihilistic and atheistic anthropology and thus seems to lend its untruthful content the status of a legitimate theological opinion in the Church,’ Cardinal Müller writes. The task of the Roman Magisterium, be it directly the Pope’s or mediated by the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, is to faithfully preserve the truth of Divine Revelation. It is instituted by Christ and works in the Holy Spirit so that the Catholic faithful are protected from...

Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Former President Donald Trump's attempt to delay the Florida trial over his handling of classified documents was rejected Friday, at least for now. U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who was appointed to the bench by Trump, issued an order that the trial will move forward on May 20 as planned. However, she did not completely rule out moving the trial date to avoid scheduling conflicts at a later date. That date would be March 1, when a scheduling conference will be held, Cannon's order says. Trump's attorneys have continued pushing to move the trial until after...

Reader warning: This article contains images and concepts some might find disturbing. Reader discretion is advised. Fall is my absolute favorite season that brings a brief respite between summer's sweltering heat and winter's bitter chill. It's marked by colorful leaves and the cooling winds from the Arctic north. It is also the perfect time to discuss the obvious problem facing our nation and our world, which is the resurgence of paganism. While this has been seen in spectacularly disturbing displays at the CERN tunnel ceremony and the most recent British Commonwealth games, it has been a much subtler yet ongoing...

These Kmart stores in Australia probably had zero idea that this hilarious "Merry Ham-Mas" bag — an unfortunately punny bag meant for storing ham in the fridge — would get them in trouble. But one look at the bag and you'll shortly realize why they're pulling it from the shelves. "Yes, Merry Hamas from all of us at Kmart. Don't forget to search our kids' section for ammunition. We got some great deals back there. If you're looking for firearms themselves you'll have to head to the pharmacy and they'll help you out." Totally kidding you guys, I needed to...

Roughly $11.7 billion of that total came after July 2021, the report found, outside of the scope of the auditor general’s report, and largely through the use of federal funds. More than $17.6 billion of the money Michigan spent that qualified as “COVID-19 expenditures” came from the federal government, while the state spent less than $500 million from its own treasury.

This year is shaping up to be the hottest on record. And while carbon dioxide dominates the climate conversation, another powerful pollutant, methane, requires our urgent attention. In fact, reducing methane emissions is the single most efficient way to limit warming in our lifetimes. This means that as we curb methane emissions from the oil and gas sector, we can not forget to swiftly tackle methane emissions from landfills. At the end of the month, when world leaders meet at the COP28 climate conference, the United States can set an example by putting stronger landfill controls on the agenda to...
