The familiar pop that comes from opening a bottle of Yoo-hoo is one of deep nostalgia. The drink is refreshing and satisfying, but one thing is for sure: It’s not chocolate milk. So, what exactly is in a bottle of Yoo-hoo? Yoo-hoo was launched in the 1920s by Natale Olivieri, a New Jersey grocery store owner. Olivieri had already created a line of fruit juices called Tru-Fruit and felt a chocolate drink would also be appealing to his customers. Knowing that chocolate milk was a popular drink at the time, Olivieri wanted to create an alternative that would, unlike milk,...

Actor Chris Rivas was in his early 20s when he found out that the inspiration for Ian Fleming’s suave, classic spy character James Bond was Porfirio Rubirosa, a Dominican diplomat, playboy, racecar driver and spy. The revelation changed his life. In his one-man show “The Real James Bond… Was Dominican,” Rivas explores identity, representation and the man with the ultimate cool factor. Porfirio Rubirosa was everything now associated with the James Bond character. He was charming, handsome, savvy and a quick draw. He played polo, raced cars and worked as a diplomat and spy under Rafael Trujillo’s dictatorship. In the...

PUBLIC DISCOURSE — When a child says he is transgender, we are expected nowadays to accept and celebrate this announcement. But there are many parents who are not celebrating. They are suffering in silence. They know their children were not born in the wrong bodies and that hormones and surgeries are not the answers to their discomfort and confusion. Their stories are heartbreaking. Here is one, in her own words. My daughter, at age fourteen, spontaneously decided that she is actually a male. After suffering multiple traumatic events in her life and spending a large amount of time on the...

Two weeks after the Hamas attack in Israel, the shattered sense of safety felt by Jews around the world hasn’t gone away. It’s the same ever-present insecurity felt by many people of color in the United States — including Jews of color. “I always feel like there’s a bright pink, fluorescent target on my back. I’m Black. I’m a woman. I’m Jewish,” said Debrosha McCants, a mother of grown children in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The difference, she says, between Jews of color and those who appear white — or who have embraced whiteness — is that people of color cannot hide...

[Catholic Caucus] US Apostolic Nuncio receives blowback for slamming the cassock, Traditional Latin MassAn anonymous priest of the Society of St. Pius X told LifeSite that Cardinal Christophe Pierre’s remarks exhibit an off-the-charts levels of cognitive dissonance as modern seminaries are floundering compared to their traditional counterparts. While confessing that young people today do enjoy attending the Latin Mass, Pierre condescendingly asked, “is the liturgy [only] something you like? Is it a refuge? Is the church a refuge? If you look at it as a refuge, you isolate yourselves.”“The church is missionary,” he said. “It’s not a reserve of people who...

Explanation: Last Wednesday the voyaging Lucy spacecraft encountered its first asteroid, 152830 Dinkinesh, and discovered the inner-main belt asteroid has a moon. From a distance of just over 400 kilometers, Lucy's Long-Range Reconnaissance Imager captured this close-up of the binary system during a flyby at 4.5 kilometer per second or around 10,000 miles per hour. A marvelous world, Dinkinesh itself is small, less than 800 meters (about 0.5 miles) across at its widest. Its satellite is seen from the spacecraft's perspective to emerge from behind the primary asteroid. The asteroid moon is estimated to be only about 220 meters wide.

It’s that time of the year again—November rolls in and with it comes “Transgender Awareness Month,” a creation of the activist class who have marked it as a time to turn the national spotlight onto what they perceive as the plight of the transgender community. They’re selling it hard as a stretch of thirty days dedicated to drumming up “inclusivity” and social justice for those who fall under the transgender label—a label, let’s be clear, that’s wrapped in a web of lies and deception. But let’s cut through the noise. “Transgender Awareness Month” is not a benign period of reflection,...

A common microbe found in sewage, marine sediment, soil, and the GI tracts of pets and farm animals may play a defining role in multiple sclerosis, according to a new study. The findings, published in The Journal of Clinical Investigation, suggest that a toxin produced by certain C. perfringens bacteria may be the long sought-after trigger that degrades the blood-brain barrier and kicks off the relentless inflammation and brain cell degradation characteristic of MS. “If this is the environmental trigger for MS, we can now start talking about a vaccine, monoclonal antibodies, or some other therapy,” says Rashid Rumah, co-author...

A senior aide to a Los Angeles councilman has resigned after being slammed for making Holocaust jokes about Amy Schumer. Josh Androsky, a top adviser to Councilman Hugo Soto-Martinez, made the vile comments on X during an exchange with the political podcast TrueAnon, the LA Times reported. The posts included puns about concentration camps and disparaging comments about the comedian’s weight. “Amy Schumer is particularly sensitive to Jewish deaths due to her experience in the Holocaust. The Nazis named a concentration camp after her. It was called Da Cow,” TrueAnon reportedly posted, apparently referring to Dachau, where tens of thousands...

Luke 14:1, 7-11 Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus notices people jockeying for the highest place at a banquet. And do you see what he does? He notices how this game interrupts God’s intention for his people and so he endeavors to interrupt the interruption. What he is urging in his parable is that we have the courage not to play the game of honor at all. When every instinct in your body says to take the higher place, you should in fact take the lowest place, the place where you are least likely to be noticed. What if you tried this...

Shocking video captured the moment a group of youths hurled antisemitic slurs on the Paris metro – including “– the Jews!” and “We are Nazis and proud!” The clip, which went viral after being shared on social media, shows commuters reacting in disbelief to the vile chants on the train. “– the Jews and – your mother … long live Palestine!” the youngsters, whose faces are seen, shout in French. “We are Nazis and proud!” On Wednesday, French prosecutors launched an investigation into the incident amid a surge in antisemitism since the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas on Israel and...

With auto loan rates at historic highs, rising payments, and mounting consumer debt, the auto lending industry is facing an inflection point. With lenders continuing to tighten restrictions and some even deciding to leave the consumer auto loans market, the stage is set for what could become a full-blown auto loan debt crisis. But how impactful such a crisis would be and how the industry can navigate its way out remains to be seen.

An enraged McDonald’s customer says the fast food franchise is no longer affordable for ordinary Americans, calling the company’s contemporary prices “crazy.” “So, I get there’s a labor shortage, I get there’s wage increases and a number of other things,” Idaho man Christopher Olive began in a viral TikTok clip, which has recently resurfaced. “But $16? $16 for a burger, a large fry and a drink? It’s just crazy!” the flabbergasted content creator complained, panning to his itemized receipt from a McDonald’s restaurant in the city of Post Falls. The video was original posted on social media last December, but...

A New York Times writer has “resigned” after signing a letter falsely accusing Israel of genocide against the Palestinian people — and denouncing her own paper’s coverage of the country’s war against Hamas. Jazmine Hughes, a staff writer for New York Times Magazine, left the publication Friday, the paper told staffers in an email obtained by The Post. “While I respect that she has strong convictions, this was a clear violation of The Times’s policy on public protest,” said magazine editor Jake Silverstein. “This policy, which I fully support, is an important part of our commitment to independence.” “She and...

A driver tried to crash through the exit gates of a South Carolina nuclear plant Thursday night about an hour after security asked the same car to leave when it tried to enter, authorities said. A pop-up security barrier stopped the car with an Arkansas license plate at the Oconee Nuclear Station near Seneca around 8 p.m., Oconee County Sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Watt said in a statement. The driver backed up and tried to drive down a dirt road as Duke Energy security tried to block him in. The driver tried to hit the guards, then drove through a fence...
