'The more a party makes inflammatory statements about this case … the greater the urgency will be that we proceed to trial quickly.’ U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan warned Donald Trump and his attorney Friday that repeated “inflammatory” statements about his latest criminal prosecution would force her to speed his trial on charges related to his bid to subvert the 2020 election. “I caution you and your client to take special care in your public statements about this case,” Chutkan told Trump lawyer John Lauro during a hearing. “I will take whatever measures are necessary to safeguard the integrity of...

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has reportedly kicked the Wagner PMC out of Belarus, after refusing to finance the Russian mercenaries. (snip) But reports have now emerged suggesting Lukashenko has refused to finance their stay in the country and the mercenaries are being 'bussed' back to Russia for a “vacation.” According to the VChK-OGPU Telegram channel, operations to remove all Wagner Group men began earlier in the month, with a second phase to remove the rest going into effect this weekend. Wagner’s services don’t come cheap. Putin recently admitted that the Kremlin has spent around $1bn on the private military company...

Former National Review columnist and unhinged Never-Trumper Jonah Goldberg recently claimed that small donors in the Republican primary were a problem “for democracy” and are “just venting their spleen” rather than acting strategically. The pompous neocon told “Inside Politics” host Dana Bash, “Small donors in Iowa are more important as an indicator of grassroots support than anything else. But I also think we’re dealing with a time where there’s a lot of people, there’s a lot of cheering and self-congratulations about the rise of small donors a decade ago.” He then added, “Now small donors are one of the biggest...

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — Members of Ethiopia’s LGBTQ+ community say they face a wave of online harassment and physical attacks and blame much of it on the social media platform TikTok, which they say is failing to take down posts calling for homosexual and transgender people to be whipped, stabbed and killed. A local LGBTQ+ support group, House of Guramayle, said that some TikTok users are also outing Ethiopians by sharing their names, photographs and online profiles on one of the country’s most popular social media platforms. In Ethiopia, homosexual acts are punishable by up to 15 years in prison....

After months of inching through minefields, villages and open steppes in grueling combat, Ukrainian forces are making somewhat bigger advances along two major lines of attack, according to analysts, Ukrainian officials and Russian military bloggers. Although Ukraine has not advanced more than 10 to 12 miles on either vector of attack, its gains are important in that it is compelling Moscow to divert forces from other parts of the front line, military analysts say. The Institute for the Study of War, a Washington-based think tank, called the advances “tactically significant,” saying Moscow’s redeployment would most “likely further weaken Russian defensive...

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal appeals court has ruled that drug users shouldn’t automatically be banned from having guns, marking the latest sign of upheaval in the nation’s firearm legal landscape and raising questions about a law cited in the case against Hunter Biden. The opinion overturns the conviction of a Mississippi man, Patrick D. Daniels of Gulfport, who had two guns found in his car during a traffic stop last year and acknowledged using marijuana regularly but wasn’t accused of driving under the influence. The appeals court cited the 2022 U.S. Supreme Court decision known as New York State...

It is a plan that is intended to give them more freedom than traditional detention, according to Axios. The administration is asking for the funds as part of a $40 billion emergency funding request to Congress. The request includes nearly $2.7 billion for the Department of Homeland Security's various border efforts. This request comes amid more bad news at the border for the Biden administration. Ten so-called "alternate electors" for former President Donald Trump and two of the former president's attorneys are facing a civil lawsuit in Wisconsin after a judge rejected a motion to dismiss the case. Two Democratic electors and a voter filed the case seeking $2.4 million from the two attorneys and the alternate GOP electors, arguing that the defendants were part of a pro-Trump conspiracy to overturn his 2020 presidential loss and seeking to disqualify the Republicans from serving as electors again. Dane County Circuit Judge Frank Remington scheduled the case for a jury trial in September 2024, just two months...

he American Academy of Pediatrics decided to "reaffirm" its stance on pushing child gender transition operations but ordered a "systematic review" amid a growing number of states outlawing the practice. The AAP's Aug. 4 decision to "reaffirm" its green light for child gender transition procedures is under the microscope as more than 20 states have outlawed the practice and European doctors have taken the opposite approach. UP FOR DEBATE: WHERE TRUMP, DESANTIS, AND REST OF REPUBLICAN 2024 FIELD STAND ON KEY ISSUES The AAP also appears confident the review will justify its current position on allowing children to pursue genital...

Rumors have abounded for the last two years that the former first lady was considering a run. In fact, I and others were convinced that she would have announced as we approach the 2024 Democratic Party Primary. She would be an unstoppable political force—especially against Donald Trump’s immovable political object. But...
