The House on Wednesday voted in favor of barring the use of public schools and colleges that receive federal funds as shelters for migrants. The Schools Not Shelters Act passed the lower chamber in a 222-201 vote, with four Democrats joining all Republicans to vote in support of the legislation. The measure comes as New York City Mayor Eric Adams mulls whether to utilize public schools shuttered for the summer to temporarily house thousands of migrants. The legislation was sponsored by Rep. Marc Molinaro (R-NY), and co-sponsored by fellow New York Republican Reps. Anthony D’Esposito, Mike Lawler, Nick Langworthy, Brandon...

Where would you like to begin in counting all the environies in Scotland’s effort to destroy the environment in order to save it? Scotland has been busily erecting Stonehengian-like multi-story bird terminators — wind turbines — in deferential indulgence to the Green Gods. Now we learn that in addition to killing all manner of birds of prey living in the forests, the independent-minded Scots are killing forests to erect these largest of all virtue signals. The UK Daily Telegraph reports that nearly “16 million trees have been chopped down on publicly owned land in Scotland to make way for wind...

I was thinking of Presidentish Joe Biden on Sunday when I was filling my Jeep’s smallish 15-gallon gas tank to the tune of $50 when it still had a couple of gallons left. Remember (because maybe he doesn’t) when Biden was emptying our Strategic Petroleum Reserve to force down gas prices in time for the midterms , promising to fill ‘er back up once prices dropped low enough? Yeah, about that. The SPR is probably never going to be refilled, according to one expert, and maybe not even for the reason that first popped into your mind. Let me set...

CNBC recently released a remarkable ranking of “America’s 10 worst states to live and work in for 2023.”Unsurprisingly, considering the source, the list consists exclusively of red states. The rankings were purportedly based on crime rates, environmental quality, health care, quality and availability of childcare, and inclusiveness in state laws such as reproductive rights, protections against discrimination, and voting rights. Oh, got it. Guess we know how they weighted these factors. Access to unfettered abortion (“reproductive rights”), worship of the LGBTQ community (“Protection against discrimination”), and the “right” to vote sans identification, via mail, and early and often, obviously superseded...

Delegate Stacey Plaskett (D-VI) defended censorship on Thursday, arguing that certain views should not enjoy the free speech protections of the First Amendment, which she said was limited by the Supreme Court. Plaskett, the ranking member of the minority on the House Weaponization Subcommittee, attacked the alleged views of one of the witnesses, Democratic Party presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, calling them hateful. “This is not the free speech that I know of,” she said. She recalled a recent controversy over remarks Kennedy made about the coronavirus affecting some population groups more than others, among other past comments.

Researchers from Johns Hopkins and the Risk Management Foundation of the Harvard Medical Institutions looked at 15 diseases and concluded that 371,000 Americans died and 424,000 were permanently disabled as a result of misdiagnoses. About 795,000 Americans die or are permanently disabled every year due to misdiagnosed medical conditions. A new analysis led by experts at Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore looks more closely at diagnostic error and its impact. "Prior work has generally focused on errors occurring in a specific clinical setting, such as primary care, the emergency department or hospital-based care," lead author Dr. David Newman-Toker, director of...

In the interest of full disclosure, as they say, we have three sons and they were never into "Snow White." We were more of a "Power Rangers" or "Sandlot" family. But I remember that my sister and mother liked "Snow White." I'm sure that my five nieces watched and loved it, too. It's a nice Disney movie about a girl called Snow White and that's the story. The bottom line is that I never heard anybody complain about her skin color, the prince's kiss violating her space or that her seven friends didn't tell us about their sexual orientation. I...

Dr Jordan Peterson discusses how to win the culture war, with insights from Soviet and Nazi dissidents who stood up against tyranny and compares their struggles with clampdowns on free speech today. He sits down with The Telegraph’s Steven Edginton in a wide-ranging discussion from why Britain was a miracle for the world to if he is addicted to Twitter: On the culture wars: “The right lacks vision. They play a rearguard game. They don't have a compelling story to tell young people. And because they're conscientious, conservatives are conscientious, it's easy to hoist them on the petard of guilt....

President Joe Biden has threatened the “special relationship” between the U.S. and Israel if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu goes ahead with judicial reforms that are opposed by that country’s political opposition. As Breitbart News has noted, most of these reforms parallel existing practice within the U.S., and one that will go up for a vote next week is grudgingly accepted even by some members of Israel’s left-wing legal fraternity. Nevertheless, Biden has taken sides against Netanyahu’s government as it attempts to rein in the power of the most powerful judicial branch in the democratic world, fulfilling an election promise to...

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the...

Sheriffs in southern Illinois say they are bracing for more crime and more victims that result from the end of cash bail across the state. "Folks who live here are extremely concerned," Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon told Fox News. "It's an experiment on the backs of victims of crime. I have serious concerns and so do the people that live here." On Tuesday, the Illinois Supreme Court ruled in favor of eliminating the state's cash bail system. The ruling takes effect Sept. 18, making Illinois the first state to fully abolish cash bail.

A liberal college town in Idaho is paying $300,000 to three Christian churchgoers who sued the city after being arrested for not wearing masks at an outside service during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The city of Moscow announced this week that it would settle with Gabriel Rench, as well as Sean and Rachel Bohnet, who brought a case against city leaders in March 2021 that alleged their rights under the First and Fourth Amendments were violated when they were arrested at an outdoor "psalm sing" conducted by leaders from their church. Moscow, home to the University of Idaho,...
