The House on Wednesday voted in favor of barring the use of public schools and colleges that receive federal funds as shelters for migrants.
The Schools Not Shelters Act passed the lower chamber in a 222-201 vote, with four Democrats joining all Republicans to vote in support of the legislation.
The measure comes as New York City Mayor Eric Adams mulls whether to utilize public schools shuttered for the summer to temporarily house thousands of migrants.
The legislation was sponsored by Rep. Marc Molinaro (R-NY), and co-sponsored by fellow New York Republican Reps. Anthony D’Esposito, Mike Lawler, Nick Langworthy, Brandon Williams, Erin Houchin and Nicole Malliotaki

Listen to Scott Adams…
ILLEGAL ALIENS not migrants
They’ll just have to take over more luxury hotels.
Mr. Sanctuary City.
Mouth writing checks his tail can’t cash.
and I hope FL and TX send them 1000s more to deal with.
This means very little, so far.
Will the Senate also pass the bill?
If so, will Biden sign it?
Smack him on the back of his head and say , “TENTS”
Don’t those schools belong to the states? I’m thinking states rights....
>>Don’t those schools belong to the states? I’m thinking states rights....
Yes, but they’re funded by the fedgov. He who pays the piper calls the tune.

You bring up an important point, and I agree. And that’s the insidious thing about federal aid to states and cities. It’s like cocaine. The addict gets hooked on the first taste, then can’t let it go.
That puts the supplier in control.
I may be beating a dead horse, but I'm all for states rights and getting the fedgov behemoth out of our business, those damn busybodies...
those people will destroy everything in the buildings whose going to pay for the repairs and will they be ready for school openings?
They will STEAL computers, microscopes, and any other pricey equipment. They will trash the building as they did to hotels. They will coat every surface with TB and other pathogens they bring with them, endangering the kids and personnel. What a great idea, Adams! Not...
I think you make a good point...It’s the funding the Feds would supply that is the problem...cash starved schools would likely “rent” space to the Feds, tho...but local property owners who fund the properties COULD have a say, maybe.
> They will STEAL computers, microscopes, and any other pricey equipment. <
And not just the expensive stuff. A guy I know was an independent handyman of sorts. He made a pretty good living doing minor repairs in a government housing complex. The tenants would steal light bulbs in the hallways, copper pipes, door knobs, etc.
My friend would make the repairs. Then came more thefts. Rinse and repeat.
He finally quit. The money was good, but it became too dangerous for him to go there. I’m surprised he lasted as long as he did.
In a way. As long as states accept federal money, they are slaves to their masters.
