KEY POINTS Federal prosecutors asked a judge on Thursday to remove five charges against alleged crypto fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried. California gave early release from prison to a reckless driver named Derrick John Thompson who had caused a crash which put an innocent person in a coma. Two men have been killed and three others were injured in a mass shooting at a Chicago Father's Day celebration.
