Mayo Clinic professor suspended after saying testosterone improves athletic performance

A Mayo Clinic College of Medicine professor was recently suspended — and remains under the threat of termination — after he told a news outlet his stance on trans-athletes in women’s sports and plasma treatments for COVID-19.

Administrators suspended Professor Michael Joyner without pay for a week, citing his “use of idiomatic language” and comments he made in a June 2022 New York Times article as justification for the disciplinary actions, according to a March 5 disciplinary letter that recently came to light.

The memo also told him to refrain from speaking to the media unless given permission.

The college expressed that Dr. Joyner’s opinions “proved problematic in the media and the LGBTQI+ community at Mayo Clinic,” according to a letter Joyner received from the college, which was recently published by the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression.

In June 2022, Joyner told the Times that, when it comes to telling the difference between biological males and females, “you see the divergence immediately as the testosterone surges into the boys,” he said. “There are dramatic differences in performances.”

True. I raised three sons. The surge of testosterone and its effects are amazing.

Speak the truth, and you get fired. This should not be tolerated in this country or any other! The moment a college fires a professor for saying something un-PC, the FBI should swoop down and arrest all those responsible for the firing.

Obviously never going to happen. The FBI would gladly swoop down on the professor and throw him into federal prison.

Free thought and speech are lost, in the USA, and essentially everywhere else.

“...testosterone improves athletic performance...”

That is a proven scientific fact.

Fire the administrators, but have them punished and tortured first. These insufferable woke a-holes must be taught a painful lesson. Show no mercy. They must be given the cat-o-nine-tails or the rack. /spit

Conformity is everything. Failure to conform is a crime punishable by shunning and stripping of professional credentials.

Ask college professors everywhere who have been stripped of their tenure and summarily dismissed from staff, their previous contributions notwithstanding, and those contributions removed from the literature and denied.

If testosterone doesn’t improve athletic performance, why was cyclist Lance Armstrong stripped of his trophies after it was discovered he used “performance enhancing drugs”, i.e. testosterone?

We raised two. Having an alpha hubby and two young men, all with great amounts of testosterone in one household was a challenge. All three wanted to be the “lead” dog. The boys bumped head with their father constantly.

An example of this forced “scientific” conformity, which led to some disastrous outcomes, was the adoption by Soviet Union dictator Josef Stalin, of a theory of genetics known as “Lysenkoism”.

Trofim Denisovich Lysenko was a Soviet agronomist and pseudo-scientist. He was a strong proponent of Lamarckism, and rejected Mendelian genetics in favor of his own idiosyncratic, pseudoscientific ideas later termed Lysenkoism.

In 1940, Lysenko became director of the Institute of Genetics within the USSR’s Academy of Sciences, and he used his political influence and power to suppress dissenting opinions and discredit, marginalize, and imprison his critics, elevating his anti-Mendelian theories to state-sanctioned doctrine.

Soviet scientists who refused to renounce genetics were dismissed from their posts and left destitute. Hundreds if not thousands of others were imprisoned. Several were sentenced to death as enemies of the state, including the botanist Nikolai Vavilov. Lysenko’s ideas and practices contributed to the famines that killed millions of Soviet people; the adoption of his methods from 1958 in the People’s Republic of China had similarly calamitous results, culminating in the Great Chinese Famine of 1959 to 1962.

We didn’t have these sorts of problems back when the crazies were put in nice padded rooms with the funny jacket that tied the arms at the back.

Lysenko was not wrong in believing the inheritance of acquired characteristics. Now that it’s been de-Russified and rebranded in the west as trans generational epigenetics it’s perfectly acceptable to believe and discusss.

If we want to talk about politicization of stifling free inquiry, maiming and killing people, and media airbrushing of scientists who don’t conform to the dominant narrative, the era we now live in has no precedent.

He was suspended for telling the truth? What next...
